A1 Matt Riggsby MAArchaeology, Boston University Thu The problem with cow’s milk is that it contains too much of somenutrients and not enough of others. However, since it’s in the generalneighborhood of what a baby needs, it can be used as an ingredient in infantformulas. It just needs some modifications. The formula needs to have somenutrients added and steps taken to ameliorate the excessive (relative to theirneeds) levels of minerals and proteins. If that’s done, the formula, as opposedto unmodified cow’s milk, is perfectly healthy, or at least as healthy as anysubstitute for mother’s milk is going to get. Q2 According to the Mahabhrata, didDraupadi had any daughters? Also, where was Draupadi daughters mentioned? No, Not according to Mahabharat. Droupadi only have 5 sons knows asUpa-Pandavas. Droupadi having daugters in folklore only as Vedvyas didn’t gaveany indirect mention about Droupadi having any child other than Upa-Pandavas Q3 If Duryodhana did not abduct Bhanumati, there is a high chance she might have garlanded Yudhishthira. What will be thechanges in the Mahabharata story if this scenario possibly occurred? A3 Lakshmi Telidevara StudyingVyasa Bharat again and again. Fri Vyasa Bharat did not mention the name of Kalinga princess whom Duryodhanaabducted. Vyasa Bharat did not say that Yudhishtir attended the Swayamvara OfKalinga princess. Narada narrated the abduction story to Yudhishtira after the war. IfYudhishtira attended the Swayamvara No need for Narada to enlighten him aboutDuryodhana’s abduction. There were amongst them Sisupala and Jarasandha and Bhishmaka and Vakra, and Kapotaroman and Nila and Rukmi of steady prowess, and Sringa who was rulerof the kingdom females, and Asoka and Satadhanwan and the heroic ruler of the Bhojas. Besides these, many others who dwelt in the countries of the South, andmany preceptors (in arms) of the mlechcha tribes, and many rulers from the Eastand the North, O Bharata, came there. Section IV Shanti Parva Narada did not mention Yudhishtir at all in his list of kings whoattended the Swayamvar. Furthermore marrying Kalinga princess did not impact Duryodhana in anyway. So what change is anticipated in case of a Yudhishtir even if he marriedher,I fail to understand. Simple Answer is “Yudhishtira did not attend the Swayamvara Of Kalingaprincess.” My Answer is based on Story Of Vyasa Bharat Q4 Is there a way to prevent nightmares,or is it completely out of our control? A4 Bhuvana Rameshwar FormerTeacher, Sat I feel nightmares are controllable. A few tips from my experience.. When I was in the college hostel we had a window facing the seaside. Sowe had cool breeze flowing in from evening onwards, daily . Everytime I leftthe window open at night I seemed to get nightmares. Actually one of us,usually me, closed the window by 6pm to avoid mosquitoes coming in. Sometimeswe forgot and as my bed was next to window I had bad dreams of ghosts in whitesaris walking in etc or someone walking in our room in white clothes, very hazyfigures with face not visible etc. The same thing happened whenever I slept next to an inflow of cold breezein other houses too. Sometimes it was dinosaur chasing me or a snake fat enoughto swallow me or a group of ghosts walking through a room. It was crazy and Igot up only to spend the whole night awake and scared. 1.Cold breeze disturbed my sleep and caused nightmares. So avoid directcool wind on face or body. 2. Eat starchy food at night for a good sleep. Rice is best. Otherwisehave one or two biscuits or a slice of bread before going to sleep. 3. Cover with a blanket or sheet when sleeping, a thin sheet in hotweather, thicker in cold or rainy weather. This covering of your body gives themind a comfort feeling of being safe, the warmth in the blanket reminds one ofcomfort we got as babies. So remember cover yourself. This also protects usfrom any insects like mosquitoes. 4. Sleep away from the bedroom door and windows for a feeling ofsecurity. 5. Be physically tired to get good sleep. Avoid afternoon sleep. Go for ashort walk after dinner. 6. Empty your bladder before you off the room lights. Often full bladdersgive a restless sleep with bad dreams. 7. If by chance you get up at mid - night drink some water with a smallpiece of biscuit and go back to good sleep. Ramadevi Gidugu Former Self Employed, Full Time Mother.June 14 Q5 Is it possible to trustyour mother-in-law? A5 No. Not only mother inlaw. Even mother. For that matter anyone. There are certain things in which You can blindly trust them. There arefew things better to keep to yourself. You should know thoroughly with whom toshare or not to share. Not because they are bad. They are mothers first. Not only to you. To alltheir children. I tell few examples. 1.My friend left her jewellery with her mom. Since in her inlaw's housethey have rights on Daughter in law's jewelry according to their familytradition, she feared they may take it away from her. Few years passed away. Her father got some loss in his business . Alongwith his wife's jewellry he sold his daughter's jewellery also. Later he saidonce his business improves he would buy back and give her back. She has twoyounger brothers. Slowly their education, their marriages become priority toher parents. They postponed. Never bought her jewellery back though they canafford. They know she can't demand since her inlaws didn't know about this. Finally they wrote their ancestral house also to her brothers only. Shewas not given anything. She couldn't tell this to her husband , relationshipwith her people would spoil she feared. But, she was very hurt because her momsaid itseems. ‘Your inlaws are well to do! Why you are crying for thisjewellery? These are given by us only naa?…etc.. You may tell ! She is working! she can buy on her own!… blah blah. It'sok. But..Should she trust her parents again for anything? 2. My cousin's elder sister's engagement is broken for some trivialreasons. Later she got married also. My cousin casually mentioned that in herin-law's house. That too to console her sister in law( her husband's sister)because her engagement also was broken. That's it. Her mother in law started taunting her. ‘Oh! In your family it's atradition aa? Just you stepped in to our house, our daughter's engagement alsois broken !!! Now did you understand? 3. Since we are more concerned about them we provided all latest gadgetsand comforts in my in-laws house. Every time we hear from them, ‘this thing Igave it to the younger one' or ‘ to ‘elder one!! After buying every thingtwice, we stopped buying the same item. Then they got angry and finallyunderstood. Is she selfish? No! She is just a mother in this matter. She can't seeher other children suffering while one son has enough. Being her children shecan't see them suffering with lack of facilities. I took care of that matter without hurting her, that is different story. She understood, they too are equally qualified, in well paid jobs. Justbelieve in only ‘present,'’ don't trust or fear about future.lot of falseprestige! Hard work never fails anyone, just they didn't realise at that time. That's it! she took care of them!! She too understood we are not suffering with excess money, just becausewe care for them, we are sacrificing somethings to provide for them. Then, really she started enjoying her comfortable life without any guilt. Still, at the end of the day she is more mother only to her children. Forme she is a mother in law howmuch ever she likes me. Then how can I trust her in other matters? I am cautious. I don't lie toher. Just I don't tell everything' blindly. 4. My friend’s Daughter and her husband planned to go on Europe tourafter ten months. Being naive she revealed her plan in inlaws house in a grandway!! Though they showed their “happiness” immediately, didn't leave any chanceto mess up her plans and peace of mind though the entire trip is sponsored byher and her company !! She was one and half year old daughter in law at thattime. Haha. Just think, if she has announced it just ten days before leaving ? If there is any emergency in the house that is different matter. In peacetime this much scene took place!! Is it required? So, what I wanted to tell is.. Once you become an adult, it's your wisdom and responsibility, whom totrust, whom to not trust and to which extent. First understand people. Motherin law, mother, not only they for that matter , anyone. Giving respect, loving them, taking care of them, everything are in theirplace and should be done honestly also. Being their children it's natural to usand our responsibility also. I am not telling to cheat anyone.Just in trusting part you follow yourmind than heart sometimes. Because, relations are delicate and have lot of dimensions. There shouldnot be any deceit or cheating. Just tell only whatever required. There will be always generation gap, differences in way of thinking andunderstanding. Q6 Is Quora a site basically for seniorcitizens who are eager to share their experience and philosophy of life? A7 In India, there are twoways the land ownership is determined as to when a block of apartments isconstructed on the plot. The flat/apartment owners must decide whether theywish to form: An association of apartment owners A Cooperative Housing Society. I think the rule is that if there are more than 20 apartments, a housingsociety becomes mandatory. Land ownership in case of “Association of apartment owners” (AAA) In case of this situation, every apartment holder has proportionalownership of the land. Sum up the total carpet area of the flat and divide eachflat carpet area by the total carpet area. Multiply that factor to the plotarea. That is the ownership for each flat owner. Example: Person A has a flat of carpet area = 960 sq. ft. There are 12 flats in the building of various sizes (carpet area). Thesum is 12,000 sq. ft. So the multiplying factor for Person A = 960/12000 or 0.08. If the plot of land is 8500 sq. ft., then Person A is the owner of 680sq. ft. of the land. Land ownership in case of “Cooperative Housing Society” (CHS) In the case of a CHS, the plot of land as also the flats belong to theCHS. The flat owner is really a bearer of the shares of the society. The flatowner has permanent residency rights, he can sell his flat by transferring hisshares to a new buyer, and so on. But the flat owner is not really the owner. If the society decides, the society can expel the member from the membership ofthe society and cease his/her residency rights. The plot of land belongs to society. Society decides the redevelopmentplan, etc. The rights of individuals is limited to voting on resolutions duringthe AGM. I talked about redevelopment. Often old buildings are demolished and newbuildings are constructed. From time to time, the built-up floor space index(FSI) rules, rules that determine how much construction can take place on aplot change. It varies from locality to locality even in the same city. So somevery old buildings may get extra FSI with the passage of time. This enablescurrent owners dual benefit: They can sell the extra FSI to new buyers. Typically a builder (redeveloper) enters into a redevelopment contractwith the current owners. He promises the existing owners new flats free of cost and they may evenbe bigger than size. The builder sells extra FSI to new buyers. That is how he makes theprofit. The existing flat owners get new apartments, maybe bigger but at leastthe same size as older. Now in case of AAA, all flat holders have to unanimously agree toredevelopment but in case of CHS, a 66% majority is sufficient to carry themotion thru. What generally happens is that 40+ year buildings have very oldresidents. They do not see the value in redevelopment and they are right intheir opinion: What attraction does an 80+-year-old couple hold for a new flat? There isvery little life left and for these couples (or even singles), their childrenhave moved far away, perhaps abroad. A typical redevelopment project takes 2–3 years. While the builders doprovide free rented accommodation during the period, imagine the pain ofuprooting! The property tax jumps up 10 fold after the new flat is handed over.
