Q1         Ismilk every night before bed bad for you?

A1          Andrea Clemens Lives inAnchorage, AK (2021–present) June 27

As it turns out, most of the web says a glass of milk before bed is goodfor
sleep. Some say because its packed with protein and will help you feel fullall
night long, resulting in a better night's sleep. Others say it hastryptophan
that converts into serotonin, which eventually increases the amountof
melatonin, and helps you fall asleep.

The only bad thing I could thinkof was possible weight gain from milk but my
opinion wasn't well supported on the web.

Most say as long as you don't exceed your daily calorie needs, a cup ofmilk is
fine.

Q2         Whatare wet-bulb temperatures, and why are they dangerous for humans?

A2          Geoffrey Widdison Beenlearning science since I was six, still
getting started. Sat

“Wet-bulb temperatures” is, at least for humans, one of the more practical
measures of humidity. The concept is pretty simple. When you have a thermometer
in the air, it willsimply measure the temperature of the air. But when you wrap
the bulb of that thermometer in a pieceof cloth, and keep that cloth wet (hence
the ‘wet bulb’) the temperature willbecome lower.

This happens because evaporation is a cooling process. Any time a liquiddries
up, it consumes heat as it does so, causing the temperature to go down. This
effect is particularly pronounced with water. And that’s why you feel coldwhen
you’re wet, and it’s why you get even colder when there’s a breeze(because
moving air makes the water evaporate more quickly). It’s why humanssweat:
spreading water over our skin helps lower out body temperature, due
toevaporation.

So, how much lower is thewet-bulb temperature than the actual temperature?

That depends on a number of factors, but the biggest is relativehumidity. At
any given temperature and pressure, there’s a maximum amount ofwater vapor that
can be present in the air. If the air reaches that maximumlevel of humidity,
nothing can evaporate any more. The closer you are to thatmaximum level, the
more slowly water evaporates. That’s why, when it’s humidand muggy, things feel
especially hot: your body can’t shed heat by sweating. That’s whypeople talk
about “a dry heat” not being so bad.

As long as you’re hydrated and your body is sweating, you can shed heat,so your
temperature isn’t as hot as the surrounding temperature.

Now, of course, there are limits to this. Lower humidity lets wetsurfaces get
cooler, but the cooler that surface is, the more heat it absorbs. At some point,
there’s an equilibrium, and that’s what’s called the wet-bulbtemperature. It
tells you, at that temperature, how cool a wet surface can get.

That’s useful, because it tells you, if you’re sweating and there’s agood
breeze, what temperature it will feel like. 90 degrees with 80% humiditycan, in
fact, feel much hotter than 100 degrees with 5% humidity. And the wet-bulb
temperature isthe simplest way to tell which will impact you more.

Q3         Whatif the kitchen is constructed on the first floor above the
bedroom on theground floor?

A3          Prasanna Bhalerao Lovesto cook; I am quite a tolerable cook Mon

You can construct the Kitchen on whatever floor you want. The only thingsto be
considered are:

Water supply plumbing-  Water proofing - Drainage

In a typical multi-storied apartment block, there is a kitchen on eachfloor.
The differenceis that all kitchens are placed in the same location, one on top
of another.

One person in our society purchased a flat in a second sale and wantedhis
kitchen to be in the South-East corner (Agneya) to be vaatu compliant. Weall
advised him not to because there are no drainage facilities. He wanted toput up
own drain pipe - the request was flatly denied.

Anyway, he still went ahead andconstructed the kitchen he liked. He made an
internal long pipe to the internaldrain. The result is that:

There is no slope-    The water clogs up and often overflows    Such a long
drain is an invitation tocockroaches and slime clogging

Looks like you are constructing a bungalow. So you can take care of
theseproblems and there won’t be issues in future. Have the advice certified by
aproper architect. Some architects just do as told and do not provide the
properguidance.

The kitchen is usually on the ground floor, with an independent backentrance so
that the maid or cook can come and do her chores. Of course, themaid visits all
the rooms to clean up so having a kitchen on the upper floor isnot the real
issue here. However, the kitchen is also the place where maximum garbage is
generated.

It is easier to dispose off the garbage from the ground floor itself.Think
these points over. There is a reason why the kitchen is usually on theground
floor in bungalows. It is not just a tradition.

Q4         Iwoke up and felt fine but then started to get dizzy and a few
minutes later Ifainted. Why? Should I see a doctor or tell someone?

A4          Milly StuchinskiI usedto read Journal of American Medicine
illegally. Tue

Yes, you should do both. I haveonly fainted a few times inmy life. The first
time was back when I was in school. The cause was low bloodsugar, hunger.

Another time was after I donated blood. I was pregnant.

Another time was when my sisters and I walked to a movie theater in theblazing
heat and when we got in, the temperature was about forty degrees and Ipassed
out from the change.

Fainting is pretty serious andyou should explore this with your doctor.

Q5         Isit true that Lord Parashurama held back and didn't teach it all to
Drona andKarna unlike he taught Bhishma?

A5          Kavana N Lives inBangalore, Karnataka. Mon

No , Parashurama taught eachperson according to their calibre .

Drona asked for complete science of Archery, which Parashurama gave himunbiased.

Drona said, “O descendant of the Bhrigu lineage! Give me all your armsand
weapons of destruction, especially the knowledge of releasing them
andwithdrawing them.”

Agreeing to this, the descendant of the Bhrigu lineage gave him all hisweapons,
especially all the mysteries of Dhanur Veda. Having received this, that supreme
among Brahmanas became accomplished in the use of weapons.

Karna also got divine weapons from Parashurama according to hisknowledge.

In overall matters Bhishmasuperseded them because he had other teachers like
Vasishta, Brihaspati etc who taught him many more things andmade him much more
accomplished.

Q6         Whydon't snakes have legs?

A6          Serge Elia Animal lover November28, 2020

Snakes made their first appearance on Earth around 340 million years ago,
longbefore the dinosaurs’ extinction – at that time, they were
probablyfour-legged, just like any other modern-day reptile
(lizards, crocodiles, turtles), but unlike any current snake. Scientists have
confirmed this via the remnants ofnon-functional limbs present at the base of
the tail in some species(mainly the constrictors like pythons, see below).

However, the legs in questionwere soon proven to be disadvantageous (even a
liability), especially when itcame to inhabiting the mud, the water or
underground burrows – as a result, individuals with shorter limbs(sometimes
paddle-shaped, ideally suited for swimming and steering[1]) and moretapered
bodies moved with superior efficiency, and reproduced more easily.

Overtime, the legs atrophiedand eventually disappeared, while the body
lengthened, resulting in theserpents we know and (wrongly) fear today.

Fun fact: snakes aren’t exactly the only reptiles to have lost theirlimbs
during the years of evolution, because that trait also goes to manyspecies of
legless lizards(see above and below), which are entirely distinct animals (to
tell thedifference)…

Q7          Ifyou had a new water heater installed, what was the entire
process, what informationdid you have to provide to the installer, and was you
able to finance the wholeproject?

A7          Gopala Krishnan, formerRetired Assistant General Manager 1996-2004
at Department of Telecom(1966-2004) Answered Wed

Normally the water heaters are installed by the civil engineer himself inbath
room. Provision ismade for power point outside bathroom. Holders for water
heaters arefitted. They should be strong to hold the weight of water plus the
weight ofwater heater. Power connectionis given properly. Reversal should not
happen.

Outlet from water heater is taken through a ball valve to the water tap/taps.

If bathrooms are close water heater is provided in one bathroom, andoutlet to
two bath rooms through ball valve.

I am repeating provision ofball valve.

It can stop the supply if the tap is not able to close. Budget would
bedepending on the cost of heater, quality of taps etc. Minimum expenditure
wouldbe above 10000–00 (Ten thousand). I hope I have fully answered the question

Q8         Isit bad to inhale water vapor from a humidifier?

Humidifier creates humidity in the surrounding air. Persons having skinproblems
may get benefited . If a healthy person inhale from it, there ispossibility of
irritation.

If you have problems with nose and doctors advise you may use steaminhaler.

Q9         Whatare the effects of excessive extraction of groundwater?

A9          2 Answers Adv. Sarika

, Self-employed at Adv. Sarika Khude (2014-present) Answered Tue

The extreme use of groundwater resources can have serious concerns, suchas
uplifting and seismic activities, ecological environment deterioration,
landsubsidence, vegetation degradation, livelihoods for rural poor, and
foodsecurity implications.

2nd answer Gopala Krishnan, former Retired Assistant GeneralManager 1996-2004
at Department of Telecom (1966-2004)Answered Tue

In a basic level thinking, water extracted is going back to ground. Butfor
returning it consumes time. The area from where water is extracted is notgoing
to the area.

The extraction or excessive extraction makes the ground dry. Crops cannotbe
grown, people would suffer for well water.

Q10              Whyis it better to take small sips of water?

A10        Laksha Narayan, Generaland Cosmetic Dentist at Shree Keshava Dental
Polyclinic Answered December 18,2020

Let me start off by giving an example, if you have observed, the streetvendors
who were keep a cart full of curry leaves and other type of edibleleaves, they
will keep sprinkling water on the leaves to keep it fresh. Theydon’t pour an
entire liter of water all together. If they do so, then the leaves might rot
away.

In the same way to our body as well, small sips of water is good for better
functioning of thebody. Do not gulp down an entire liter of water at a time.
One glassof water every half an hour is a good sufficient amount and will
fulfil thedaily requirement of 3 liters per day.

2ND ANSWER- GopalaKrishnan, former Retired AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004
at Department of Telecom (1966-2004) Answered Wed

The answer is simple. There are two pies from throat. One is the pipefrom
throat to stomach and another to lungs. These pipes are narrow (small)
indiameter. If more quantity is drank there is a possibility the drank water
canenter the pipe to lungs and suffocate you.

By consuming small quantity of water/any liquid over flow would not bethere.
Consume by sips avoid entering the liquid in the pipe to lungs. I hopethis
answer is clear.
