Q1              Recently I tend to get full afteronly eating a few bites. It's
very hard for me to drink a whole glass of water. Why is that?

A1              2Answers Robert Sinsheimer, former VP ofMedical Affairs and
Family Physician (1978-2017)Answered August 21, 2018

Getting full afteronly a few bites is called early satiety. Satiety means the
feeling of beingsatisfied after eating the right amount.

Here are somecauses of early satiety. Think of the less serious things first if
thecondition just developed. Think if the more serious causes if you have
weightloss and vomiting.

A viral illness such as gastroenteritis

The few days immediately after abdominalsurgery.

A severe illness not yet diagnosed.

Drugs: like amphetamine stimulants, someantidepressants, some illegal drugs,

Irritable bowel or other related conditionsthat cause gas and bloating.
sometimes irritable bowel is really a type ofcarbohydrate intolerance

Gastroparesis (poor emptying of the stomachdue to poor contractility or
sqeeze of the stomach). Think of this if thesituation is chronic.

    Gastric Ulcer

    GERD

Gastric outlet obstruction caused by anulcer or tumor or tumor that causes
and ulcer at the pyloric valve.

A tumor outside the stomach that putsexternal pressure on the stomach.

Keep thesepossibilities in mind when you see the doctor about this symptom.

My personal guessis that you are sick with something. But I also know very
little about you:age, sex, physical activity, medical conditions, living
environment, emotionalstress, usual eating habits, overall health, history with
these symptoms, workplace, allergies, or everyday habits you don’t even know
about- all ofwhich, might play an effect.

Few people will beable to give an exact answer to your question online. Talk to
a family doctor, close friend or even a relative. Try to determine what changes
in your lifemight be influencing your eating habits.

Q2              Why do people of African descenthave tightly curled hair
compared to Europeans? How would this be anevolutionary advantage?

A2              Claire Jordan Degree in biologyand folklore; programmer, shop
owner, secretary on newspaper July 30

Frizzy Afro hairwicks sweat away from the skin very fast, cooling the scalp and
protectingagainst sunstroke. This is very important if you live in a very hot
and sunnyarea.

On the other hand,if you live somewhere cold, you want to reduce loss of heat
from the head, sothen you evolve straighter hair.

Q3              When a jet aircraft flies throughclouds, how does the engine
keep running even though there's so much watervapor in the way? Doesn't the
water vapor weaken the combustion?

A3              Franklin VeauxProfessionalWriterJuly 28

Jet engines burnferociously hot, far too hot for water vapor to make any
difference. Like,“pushing the very limits of materials science to keep turbine
blades frommelting” hot.

And engines aredesigned to ingest massive quantities of water without flaming
out. And I domean massive.

This is a GE enginebeing tested by running with enormous water hoses spraying
high-pressure waterjets down its throat.

The engines aretested with water nets, with water and ice spray, with chunks of
ice, you nameit. It’s pretty cool:

Q4              What are some Dry Fruits that arebeneficial for Health?

A4              AnsweredbyApoorv AgrawalJuly 27 Answered byApoorv AgrawalJuly27

Dried fruitcontains no fat, cholesterol, or sodium. It also helps to sweeten
bland foodwithout adding refined sugars. Small bits of dried fruit can be added
to plainyoghurt, oatmeal, or wholegrain breakfast cereal, making it more
palatable toyoung children – and others who would not be able to stomach such
foodsotherwise.

Some Amazing DryFruits beneficial for our Health

Almonds are rich in vitamins and are eveneasier to digest than milk.

Raisins are actually dried grapes and havehigh nourishing qualities. They
have sufficient sugar content and thus higherfood value.

Cashew nuts are rich in mono-unsaturatedfat, thus useful for heart problems

Dates have natural sugar, are considered tobe very nutritious and healthy
dry fruits.

Pistachios are a good source of copper, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium,
and B6.

You can add theseamazing health benefits of dried fruits to your daily diet.

Note: since thesedry fruits skin or peels doesn’t easily get digested in our
body. So make sure you keep them inwater for at least 4 hours. This will help
to get more nutrition out ofthese in your body.

Q5              One of my answers on Quora wastaken down because some lines
were in Hindi. I had appealed but got rejected. Can I do something to get my
answers back? It was the most viewed answer ofmine.

A5              GopalkrishnaVishwanath I have been a member of Quora since
July2015 Wed

(366 words in this answer. 2 minutes to read)

Did you address thebasic issue before appealing? If the reason was the presence
of lines in Hindi(without a translation below) then you should either have
removed the Hindilines or added a translation before appealing.

Now that you haveappealed and it has been rejected then that is the end of the
matter. Quoradoes not consider multiple appeals.

Don’t be too upset. These “accidents” do happen. Several of my answers have been
collapsed. I justdon’t bother to appeal. I let them stay collapsed and I
proceed to write mynext answer or question.

But if you aredetermined to somehow get your answer back, here are a couple of
workarounds.

Shhh!!! Don’t tellanyone or Quora that I told you.

First method:

Share yourcollapsed answer with your followers. Request some of them to share
it further. This will bring it back on display and chances are the bots won’t
notice. Doaddress the issue that caused the earlier collapse.

Second method:

Rewrite thequestion in such a way that the question is the same but there are
enoughchanges in the keywords to hoodwink the bots that check for repetition
and makethe bots believe it is a different question. Change words like
“question” to“query”, “answer” to “response”, “ask” to “inquire”, “lift” to
“elevator”,“history” to “the past” etc.

Then answer yourown question by copy/pasting your previous answer. This time
address the issuethat caused the earlier collapse. Either remove the Hindi
lines or add atranslation. If those Hindi lines are vital to your answer, then
try writingthem in Roman script and put them in italics. Don’t use Devanagari.
Those wordsstick out and are easily spotted by the bots.

Of course, thiswill be a new answer with the same content and you will have to
get new views. But at least your answer will come out of Quora’s waste paper
basket!

This trick hasworked like a charm and one very popular writer has used it
often. The writereven announces in the shared answer that the answer had been
collapsed whenfirst posted! The shared answer sneaked past the bots and there
was no furthertrouble.

Best of luck, andremember your promise not to tell anyone that I told you.

Q6              I am planning to buy a home. Whichthings should I consider the
most?

A6     PrasannaBhaleraoI have some experience in real estate deals.July19

Vikas Khurana hasmentioned some excellent points. To those, I will add:

Be absolutely sure that the city where youare buying will be your city of
permanent residence.

Assess your job in terms of security andsteadfastness. You will most likely
go for a loan. You must be able to repaythe loan.

There is no need to hurry to buy now. Savefor the downpayment right now to
reduce the loan. It is a myth that goodproperty will be lost if you don’t buy
now.

Expanding on the above point - do not gofor a hefty loan with a 30-year
tenure (because it reduces EMI). The longer youpay, the more interest you pay
and the longer you are in debt. I always advise15~20 years.

Check out resale properties. A good bargaincan be had on resale - closer to
your chosen area, bigger, etc.

Vikas said that buy somewhere close to theoffice. That is something on
which I have a different PoV. Nowadays we oftenchange jobs. So today you are
close to the office. What about tomorrow? What iftomorrow, your office is a
good 30 km away? So looking at resale propertiessomewhere closer to the city
centre may be better.

Q7              Are toilet drains and showerdrains connected?

A6              2AnswersS. Damon, Medical Research Analyst

Answered TueYes,all the drains in your home are connected to the main drain
which eventuallygoes to the sewer. See diagrams below. The last two photos
diagram a multistoryhouse. In the first two photos, the black pipes are drains.

If the blockageoccurs at a place where the pipes are connected then the entire
home canexperience slow running drains. I learned this the hard way when I
flushed 2quarts of moldy strawberries down the toilet. My entire bathroom was
unusablefor a week. I spent over $200 in drain clearing chemicals and tools but
nothingworked (this was during NYC's COVID lockdown so finding supplies — or a
plumber— was near impossible). Plungers and snakes were ineffective because the
clogwas too far down. I finally found a place that had sulphuric acid, which is
sopowerful, it's illegal in some states. Horror stories about sulphuric
acidaccidents are littered through the internet. It worked like a charm, and I
gotmy bathroom back. A WARNING: Do not pour chemical drain openers down
thetoilet. They won't work because the toilet drain first goes horizontal
anddoesn't have enough vertical clearance for the dense chemical to reach
theclog. The chemical just falls back into the toilet bowl where the fumes
andchemicals can hit you if you later decide to use a plunger. In my case,
allchemicals were poured down the sink or bathtub.

For those who thinkI was an idiot … during the lockdown, our building had no
janitorial service sorotting trash was piling up in the building. And a few
strawberries, withmultiple flushes is no problem. Small pieces of soft food is
no different thanwhat comes out of your intestines. But I was in a rush and
stupidly tried toflush all 2 quarts with one flush.

2ND ANSWER- John Hogg, studied MaterialsScience and Engineering at San Jose
State UniversityAnswered Tue

Below the floor, yes. You can see this if the bathroom is above a garage or
crawl space. Alldrains finally flow to the sewer main. The water trapped in
P-traps/U-trapslocated below all sinks, showers and tubs (and associated roof
vents), preventssewer gases from entering the house.

Q7              In double-walled cups, such asthose made by Yeti, why doesn't
the heat from outside the cup conduct from theoutside to the inside around the
lip of the cup?

A7  2 Answers DavidThomas, Senior Engineer at Tetra Tech(2002-present)Answered
July 30

It does, but due tolong length of that heat-flow path, it’s a minor amount of
heat. Some morespecialized containers, like those used for liquid nitrogen, use
differentdesigns to lengthen that path and/or use materials that are less
conductive tominimize that heat transfer even more.

Q8              Have we evolved to perceive wateras tasteless, colorless,
odourless, etc. or is that just the way water is?

A8              2 ANSWERS Adam Wu, Evolutionary neurosurgeon Answered4h ago

This is actuallynot an issue of evolution at all but rather of chemistry and
abiogenesis.

Because we arose ascarbon based life forms reliant on aqueous chemistry, what
we call taste andsmell are ultimately the detection of substances that are not
water, dissolvedin water.

Water thus, bydefinition, HAS to be tasteless and odorless.

2NDANSWER- Gopala Krishnan, former Assistant General Manager 1996-2004
atDepartment of Telecom (1966-2004)Answered 3h ago

Pure water isodourless, colourless and tasteless. But the said pure water we
drink or usefor preparation of food items   contain many minerals and gives a
taste.
