I think you forget that USA should have withdrawn from Afghanistan many many years go. What is happening now is much delayed - and leave the Afghans to their own devices. The US had a simple mission there - destroy those who caused 9/11. That was done long ago - and the Taliban have agreed that they will not harbor any more terrorists.
Why should the US sacrifice any more of its people there? This is now a domestic problem that Agfhanistan should solve on its own. Pakistan, India and China may interfere - why should the US care?
