Q2           Giventhat humans have had a long history of hunting deer, why are
deer not domesticatedlike cows and pigs are?

A2           Donna Fernstrom Reptile keeper and breeder, wildlife observation
andecology hobbyist. Fri

Most deer are much more skittish than they are sturdy - theyeven die simply
from the stress of being restrained. But humans are persistent, so we did
domesticatedeer. Domesticated (or at least semi-domesticated) deer are called
reindeer.

Because they’re used to pull sleds laden with supplies, andare guided using
reins of course.

Reindeer were domesticated from Rangifer tarandus, and arenot differentiated
enough to have their own subspecies name yet.

Wild (non-domesticated) Rangifer tarandus are called caribou.

Reindeer weredomesticated over 1000 years ago.

Q3           Why domosquitoes often make noise right next to ears?

A3           Ken Saladin Purveyor of whimsy andsatire (2021–present)Thu

They don’t care about humming around your ear any more thanthey do around any
other bit of exposed skin. It’s merely that those are the ones you notice the
most. It’s a form of observation bias. It’s something animal behavioristshave to
be careful about in their research. If they’re not, it jeopardizes thetruth of
their conclusions, their ability to pass peer review, their chance ofgetting
published, and their careers.

Q5           What wasYudhistira's reaction on Seeing Duryodhana in Swargaloka?
How did Duryodhanaattain Swargaloka, while other great warriors including
Karna, Dristadhyumna,Drupada, Satyaki were in Hell?

A5           Tannistha Roy  Student September 14

Coming to your second question first -

Duryodhana attained heaven because he died in the battlefieldKurukshetra,
fighting like a true warrior should. He practiced Kshatriya Dharmaand that's
the reason he went to Swargalok.

The other Pandavas, Draupadi, Karna and all were actually notin hell. This was
just an illusion created by Lord Indra. Yudhistir needed tovisit hell for once
because he lied to Drona (about Ashwatthama's death).Similarly, others also had
to see hell, but they didn't stay thereforever.

Everyone merged with them finally, from whom they wereincarnated. For example,
Bheema merged with Lord Vayu, Karna merged withSuryadev.

Yudhistir saw Arjuna and Krishna in Vaikuntha. Krishna wassurrounded by all the
celestial weapons and Arjuna was also there as they'rethe incarnations of
Nara-Narayan.

Now about Yudhistir's reaction -

He was shocked to see Duryodhana in heaven, as he rememberedall their
sufferings caused by him. But, Indra explained him everything andasked him to
get rid of those emotions & feelings and meet Duryodhana. Profilephoto for

Q6           Whatclever act of a sales person amused you?

A6           Nelwin Jose Ex-Jobless July 19, 2019

I was travelling from Mumbai to Banglore when I met thisperson on train. He was
travelling to Banglore to write an exam. We both were18 and found it easier to
talk so.

The ice had been broken, and now we decided to know eachother more to kill the
journey's boredom.

Me: So what do you do in Mumbai?

He : In the day time I used to go to college and duringevenings, I help my
chacha(uncle) in his work. He has a small ice cream shop(cycle).

Me: Ohh so you help him in managing the customers during rushhours. That's good.

He: No, I help him byeating ice cream!

Me: Ohhh.. *laughs hard, considering it to be a sarcasm*

He: No seriously, that's what I do to help him.

Me: How is that helpful?

He: I just have to stand near the ice cream cycle and loiteraround, enjoying my
ice cream. I try to catch the attention of kids and otherpeople walking around.
These kids then cry to their parents for ice cream andthat's how we attract
customers. Since most of the times people are in a hurry,we need to resort to
some tactics like these.

Me: Oh wow! Do youhave a vacancy? *laughs*

He: I'll ask my chacha and let you know *laughs*

Q7           Are youa Quora+ subscriber? Why did you subscribe? If not, why
won't you subscribe?

A7           Prasanna Bhalerao Technology geek, Amateur Photographer,
Historyenthusiast9h ago

I am not a Quora+subscriber. I won’t ever subscribe. WhenWikipedia is free why
should I subscribe to Quora?

When there are lots of other sites that provide freeinformation, why should I
pay Quora and a few other writers in turn for theiranswers? I get all my
knowledge outside Quora anyway.

I believe that knowledge should be free. If someone wants toget paid for their
knowledge and research, they should publish books thatcan/will sell over the
counter or on Amazon Kindle, etc. Unlike monetarywealth, the wealth of
knowledge does not decrease because one shares it.Sharing knowledge brings
gratitude and that is the payment enough for me.

Since I believe that knowledge should be free, I may not sign up for Quora+ and
make my answers hide behind apaywall. All my content, however limited, is free
onQuora, at least for the time being. However …

There is a significant number of people who have createdspaces. They do nothing
on their own. All they doday-in and day-out is pick & share answers from all
over and share in theirspace. Their space earns money this way.

The original content writer gets nothing.

There are quite a few popular Quorans who I observed havesigned up for Quora+
and hidden their answers behind a pay wall, maybe becauseof this precise reason
- “Why should others earn money from myanswers?”. I can understand this. Maybe
this reason will force me to do thesame.

Quora has completely screwed up the monetisation program.First, they started
the QPP and that resulted in thousands of useless questionsbeing posted every
day. Then they started the Spaces program. Now, this. They should have remained
like Wikipedia. It is still not too late.

My note- Many interesting QA I am nt able to selectbecause  I am not a Quora+
subscriber.Once my answers go to SubscriptionI can pay it back asQuora plus
subsciber

Q8           Why dohusbands and wives fail to understand each other even after
twenty-five yearsof marriage?

A8           RamadeviGidugu Former Self Employed, Full Time Mother. September 7

The reasons are many.

My husband says,‘ while I am there with you, You should knowhow the world
functions, how things work, how to do things, you should be awareof as many
things as possible depends on the opportunities , it helps you togrow in life,
helps to manage our life, me, our family.

At the same time, youshould not have to do those things always when I am with
you. You can lean on me. I like to protect you. Notbecause you are not capable.
Just because I love to do it since you are mine.Hope you appreciate my efforts.’

Not exactly in these words, since we are desi couple, we talkto each other in
our native language. Simple and straight, not in a dramaticlanguage. This is
the message he tries to convey always in these many years. This is what I felt
from his words.

Really I appreciate him.

Being a wife I think,‘everything need not be expressed in words. Words convey
very little, sometimes just superficial also theymay sound.

With patience and calm mind we can understand not onlyhusband, the entire world.

For how many years you aremarried don't matter, how much you understand each
other do matter.

Why they fail to understand?

Because, they want to bother always about the thing that isnot conveyed. Want
to crib about what they don't have. Disappointed becauselife didn't meet their
expectations. After all! It's life. Not our maid, it'sour boss!

You may not get the best always but you can make whatever youget as your ‘the
best' if you wish. only thing you should have is maturity toaccept whatever
life offers . If not, you should be capable enough to createyour own history.

I am not talking irrational, cruel, sadistic, sick mindedpeople. I am talking
about normal people.

Some always prefer to walk on uneven rough pavements. Somehave to walk on them
because of their bad decisions or by fate. It's notbecause they love it, they
are pushed in to those situations.

Just because, they don't even try to lift their eyes up tosee the smooth road
passing by next to them. That much they are engrossed intheir lives without a
second thought. We can say to some extent they lost hope, become pessimistic.
They don't want to take a new path out of fear about newchanges.

Some run like sprinters on smooth road without understandingwhat they want in
their lives just to reach a dead end. May be a cliff?

Either you understand eachother or don't understand eachother. Length of the
time you spent with each other is not important.

What matters finally is how accommodative you are to eachother. Many say, we no
more love each other.

Love is not a season tochange. A fragrance that engulf around our lives. It's
ok, sometimes you enjoy, sometimes you don't notice, still it's there which you
are used to and fail to notice.

Love has many hues and many ways. Don't try to frame it undercertain
definition. Then life becomes easy otherwise looks complicated.

Many want to define love, wants to put it in particular hue, then obviously they
fail to understand each other.

Closed door means no hope.A door ajar will alwayslet fresh air, new hopes to
come in. Our mind is also the same, not muchdifferent from that door.

You may not be wrong but, may not be right also always.youmight have failed to
notice that. Then you may appear egoistic and adamant toyour spouse.

Same way, your spouse also may not be wrong always. Just youfailed to notice.

It depends on how we look at things.

The best thing a partner or a parent can do to their spouseand children is
staying healthy physically and mentally.

Getting used to each other increases the comfort level.Comfort level makes
eachother taken for granted. Then all the issues start.

My note- As I makeout as husband and wife grew older sex relation which bound
the couple together suppressed certain genes  before reappear.

These suppressed  genesstart to play with more vigour in old age .

In my home I knew grandparents in a matam, quarrel each otherfor anything just
like counter in my  boyhood days.

If one is ready to admit with conscious, husband tries tosuppress his genes
further to avoid family quarrel. Not because heagrees to his wife.

This suppression is shown as arguments with others sometimeseven in the groups
with others.

Many male members during old age may have meagre pension, meagre reserve money
and no pension or specified income. If the wife wanted to spent to her sick
people whichis non-returnable, husbandhas limitation to the quantity he can
spare- just an example.

Her reappeared genes become violent some times, forgettingher own essential
requirements.

Q10         Chickenscan't fly. What is the function of a chicken wing?

A10         Jordan Worked at National HealthService (NHS)June 15

Chickens are a domesticated form of an Asian pheasant calledthe jungle fowl; a
lean, fit bird which comes in a range of attractive colours.

Red jungle fowl 12 hatching eggs

Jungle fowl use their wings the way all pheasants do - to hopup into the trees
to roost, and to erupt out of the undergrowth and fly a shortdistance to evade
predators. As such their wings have evolved for short, poweful bursts of speed,
not for long-distance gliding.

Domestic chickenshave been bred and raised such that most are too heavy and out
of shape to getoff the ground, and somehave their wings clipped anyway - but
see Geoffrey’s answer for film of someleaner, fitter free-range domestic hens
flying very effectively.

They do so in the same fashion as their ancestors - to getenough lift to get
into a tree or onto a shed roof, and to cover shortishdistances faster than a
predator could chase them.

All the above QA are basedon Quora digest to me on 19-09-2021. Quoraanswers
need not be 100% correct answers
