Q1            What is behind Mount Everest?

A1            MarkGrace Building Physicist Updated March 22, 2017

It depends on whereyou are.

The image below istaken from Google Earth. If you look carefully, you’ll see
that the summit ofEverest lies exactly on the border between Nepal (to the
south) andChinese-ruled Tibet (to the north).

So, behind Everestfrom the point of view of someone standing in Tibet is Nepal.

And behind Everestfrom the point of view of someone standing in Nepal is most
likely Tibet.

If you're off toone side, it depends on your position, but you get the picture
:).

Incidentally, mountaineers climb Everest from both Nepal and Tibet.

The usual route onthe Nepalese side is often referred to as the ‘standard’ or
‘easy’ route, viathe Khumbu Icefall, Western Cwm, Lhotse Face, South Col and
South East Ridge.

The more difficultNorth Ridge route is the one attempted by George Mallory’s
expedition in 1924(the ‘Kingdom of Nepal’ was closed to foreigners at the time,
and until 1951).Sadly, their expedition ended in tragedy…. Not only did their
summit attemptend in failure, but George and climbing partner Sandy Irvine both
lost theirlives in a fall, high on the mountain, far away from help.

Q2            Is eating eggs good for your health?

A2            3Answers Anushka, BBA Marketing & Management, Symbiosis Centre
forManagement Studies (2023)

There is norecommended limit on how many eggs people should eat.

Eggs can be enjoyedas part of a healthy, balanced diet, but it's best to cook
them without addingsalt or fat. For example:

boiled or poached,without added salt

scrambled withoutbutter and using low-fat milk instead of cream

Frying eggs canincrease their fat content by around 50%.

Having highcholesterol levels in our blood increases our risk of heart disease.

Although eggscontain some cholesterol, the amount of saturated fat we eat has
more of aneffect on the amount of cholesterol in our blood than the cholesterol
we getfrom eating eggs.

If a GP or healthprofessional has told you to watch your cholesterol levels,
your priorityshould be to cut down on saturated fat across your diet. You can
get advice inEat less saturated fat

If you are eating abalanced diet, you only need to cut down on eggs if you have
been told to do soby a GP or dietitian.

There have beenimproved food safety controls in recent years. So infants,
children, pregnantwomen and elderly people can now safely eat raw or lightly
cooked hen eggs, orfoods containing them. Make sure that the eggs you buy have
a British Lionstamp mark.

But these groups ofpeople should still avoid raw or lightly cooked eggs that
are:  not British Lion stamped  not hen eggs (e.g. duck or quail eggs)    from
outside the UK

They should havethese eggs cooked through until the white and yolk are solid.
This is because thesegroups are more vulnerable to infection and likely to have
more serioussymptoms of food poisoning.

People who have aseverely weakened immune system and who are on a medically
supervised dietprescribed by health professionals should cook all eggs
thoroughly.

Q3            What are a few unknown facts aboutChennai that are hard to
believe?

A3            SubramaniamDuraisamy Lives in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, IndiaWed

Fact #1: KoovamRiver was once used for transportation and a public place

A very old photo ofthe river when it was a river like any others. We all know
how the same riverlooks like today. A sad remainder of what unchecked
urbanization can do.

Fact #2: Do youknow Chennai has a branch office of World Bank ?

Chennai’s WorldBank Office is one of the multi regional headquarters of the
main World Banklocated in US. It handles most of the backend operations from
2002 of the bankfrom here- Chennai chosen for World Bank back office

Fact #3: Chennai isthe second oldest metro corporation after London, ageing as
old as more than150 years old

Fact #4:Theosophical Society in Chennai houses one of the oldest Banyan Trees-
About450 years old

As a guy who lovesNature, this was one of my retreats in this city before the
pandemic.

Fact #5- Chennaiwas the ONLY Indian city that came under the line of fire in
World War 1

With CaptainKarl von Müllerin command, onthe night of 22 September 1914,
SMS Emden quietly approached the city ofMadrason the southeastern coast of the
Indian peninsula

. As he laterwrote, "I had this shelling in view simply as a demonstration to
arouseinterest among the Indian population, to disturb English commerce, to
diminishEnglish prestige." After entering the Madras harbour area,
Müllerilluminated six large oil tanks belonging to the Burmah Oil Company with
hissearchlights, then fired at a range of 3,000 yards. After ten minutes
offiring, Emden had hit five of the tanks and destroyed 346,000 gallons of
fuel, and the cruiser then successfully retreated.[1]

Q4            The Earths' gravity, as I understandit comes from the Earths'
rotation, do other planets rotate, do other planetsrotate and have gravity?

A4            Lucas Curtis Science teacher(2001–present)46m ago

The Earths'gravity, as I understand it comes from the Earths' rotation

Then allow me tostart by clearing up a major misconception: Earth’s gravity
does not come fromits rotation. Even if Earth did not rotate, it would still
exert agravitational pull on other objects. In fact, you’d weigh slightly more
on anon-rotating Earth than you currently do, because there wouldn’t be
any“centrifugal force” canceling out a tiny portion of your weight.

Earth’s gravity —and the gravity of every other object — comes from the fact
that it has mass.Rotation or no rotation… it doesn’t enter into the equation.

do other planetsrotate-Indeed they do.and have gravity

Indeed they do, butlet me re-emphasize this: their gravity is caused by their
mass, not by thefact that they rotate. Two separate ideas.

Q5            Why did Iran become a poor countrydespite having oil?

A5            AliBarghani Software Developer Updated July 10

Iran was a well-offcountry during much of the 2000s. Back then, Iranian
citizens lived verycomfortably, had lots of subsidies in housing, fuel, food,
and enjoyed luxurygoods, electronics, travelling, etc.

There are threethings, however, that caused the economy to deteriorate since
around 2012,unemployment to rise and inflation to go up:

Crash of global oilprices in 2014. The Iranian economy was still considerably
dependent on oil atthe time (though no where near as much as its neighbours),
so many jobs werelost in the petroleum industry. Furthermore, reduced oil
income meant thegovernment could not allocate as much money for welfare and
subsidies, whichwas confounded by,

Economic sanctions. Since 2012, Iran hasbeen the most sanctioned country on
the planet, having even more sanctions thanNorth Korea, Cuba and Venezuela
combined. Almost every industry you can thinkof is embargoed, from oil and gas
(which made the above event even more dramatic),banking, insurance, metals,
shipping, software, hardware and pretty much anyother industry.

Poor economic mismanagement. The governmentof President Rouhani since 2013
has been extremely neo-liberal oriented, andhas largely seen the lifting of
sanctions and economic liberalization hasIran’s key to economic success.
Rouhani has gotten rid of many subsidies thathelped the lower-income strata,
and has largely implemented privatizationpolicies that benefited the top ten
percent of the country.

Iran has a lot ofpoor people, but there are also many Iranians out there living
their bestlives. Despite sanctions and COVID, Iran has seen a huge increase in
the numberof millionaires this past few years, mostly due to a booming stock
market.Today, most Iranians cannot afford an iPhone with their monthly income,
yetTehran has some of the highest rate of luxury cars in the world. Thus, there
isa lot of wealth in Iran, but it is divided extremely unequally.

Such scenes are notuncommon in Tehran:

Having said that,it should be noted that these type of scenes can be viewed in
every country. There are worst images like this in New York, Riyadh, Los Angeles
and London.

Q6            What are a few unknown facts aboutChennai that are hard to
believe?

A6            T.M. Gautham Left Handed & RightMinded Updated Sun

Here's a fact thatis in front of you for years, but you probably did not notice.

This building inthe below picture Fort. St. George, Chennai, which is the state
assemblybuilding and the Headquarters of Government of Tamil Nadu
(தலைமைச்செயலகம்) is older than Taj Mahal.

The construction ofthe Fort St. George was completed in 1644[1] .

The construction ofthe Taj Mahal was completed in 1653 .

It’s important tonote that the construction of Taj Mahal was started much
earlier and gotcompleted after 21 long years due to it’s grandeur. During
1639–1644, Fort St.George was being being constructed, the main part of the
masoleum was beingconstructed in the Taj Mahal.

Usually, peopleassume that British architecture is newer when compared to
Mughal architecture.Of course, that’s true for most cases, especially in the
North, but not forChennai.

The Fort St. Georgeprecedes the Victorian Era. This is the place where modern
India was born.Heritage of Madras City along with Delhi (and may be Calcutta)
is the best ofall cities in India.

PS: I really wishfor the day when Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata gets renamed back
to Madras, Bombayand Calcutta. They sound much better than the newer names.
Especially Kolkatais a very horrible name. I think of Kolukattai when I hear
it. Kolukattai is agreat dish without a doubt, but when I hear ‘Kolkata’, I’m
supposed getreminded of city’s heritage and not a snack.

Q7   What are the most mysterious things aboutIndian temple?

A7            Sahil Phatangare·I believe in god September16

A short story aboutthe jewel of my city .The Invincible Shiv Mandir.

According tohistorians it was buit around 1060 AD. But there exist a popular
tale , thatthe mandir was built was built by pandavas . people's belief got
inheritatedand its carried till now. Although once i told my mom , that the
mandir wasn'tbuilt by pandavas it was the king who carved it .

And she straightaway declined the possibilty.

Seeing her rigidtrust and eternal faith , i hide the truth.

So whats themysterious thing about temples , for me its the divine hope that it
pours intothe Worshipers.

Hope that guidesyou , hope that warms you , whether you are overjoyed or broke
like hell chantof god sung so well.

A 20 step laddertakes you to shivling , its crowned underground inside the
dome. Wholearchitecture is made of stone , with status of god and goddes carved
on walls.a tortoise pool and 2 temples along , the whole complex resides at
bank ofriver.

Nowadays itslockdown , so the entry is restricted , but that doesn't concern
the inflow ofworshipers. Mondays when i visit there , i feel possitivity in
air, its magicaland mesmerizing too.

During last decadethe river alongside got polluted . when i see it , a thought
wispered my mind.

God boon us the heavenly earth ,

God blessed us with the mother nature.

Still we humanskeeps on missuing it , deteriorating the soil, polluting the
reservoirs ,mountains of plastic, depleting forest , hunting down animals .
isnt the godwho created us and created them same afterall .

Forest are created to serve as ecosystemfor species , not being grown to
cut down for a shopping complex .

River are created to river to drive ourthirst , and not being a dumping
ground of industrial waste.

Not only humanswalk on soil we share it with millioms of species on earth.

Thanking the sun for its light,

    Thanking mountains for its protection,

    Thanking rivers for its greatness,

Thanking winds for its clamnes ,

Are all form ofworship i do.

Days when i was sad, i was about to break ,

Your name restoredmy faith.

When people aredancing on your song,

I could see yousmiling behind the walls.

When fire arrows ,blocked my path,

Hold on buddy ,gods armour i got.

Hell and heaven letthe world decide,

I happy to be yourchildren, and all just fine.

Confessions andsins i pray to my gods,

I know it wont beout , you are High Father after all.

I dont carry therain or see the storm,

Just add colour torainbow's form.

There's a placeabove earth the divine sky we say,

Whenever i look up,i see you there.

Whether they areclose or far apart,

All of these thingmust be felt with the heart.

My every breathe isyour boon ,

My every step isyour wish,

I wont look back onproblems now,

Cause there's youto guide me ,

Guide me , motivateme in the worst of times , may it be a day or night.
