Q1 Why doesalternating current have low power loss factor when transmitted over longdistances? A1 Jon Watte Lives in San Francisco Bay Area(1998–present)Mar 10 The question assumes that alternating current has lower power lossfactor when transmitted over distance, than direct current. This is not actually true! Power losses in transmission come from reactive/inductive losses, andfrom resistive losses. The inductive losses are related to the frequency oftransmission, as well as the voltage being transmitted. The resistive losses are related to the resistance ofthe transmission. DC transmission has, by definition, zero inductive losses, because thefrequency is 0. AC transmission is beat, here. DC transmission andAC transmission at the same voltage level, have the same resistive loss. So, assuming the voltage used is the same, DC has less loss than AC intransmission. Why is AC used, then? AC is much easier to convert voltage, because all you need is a transformer — a bunch of copper wire woundaround a magnetic core. You can use a step-up transformer to make the voltagehigher, send it across a long distance, and then step it down again forconsumption. This is much harder to do with DC — the equipment to do so, efficiently,at high power and high voltage, has not been particularly practical oreconomical until the last 10–20 years. Also, because AC has a zero crossingover a hundred times per second, it means that any arcing that happens, willoften extinguish itself, whereas if you get arcing in a DC system, you have tomanually cut power to make it go out. Q2 What makesKanyakumari the richest district in Tamil Nadu over throwing even Chennai? A2 Ram Prakash Researcher Fri Kanyakumari is not richer than Chennai and Comimbatore asit lacks industries and job opportunities. You are more likely to become rich if you leave Kanyakumari. That said,Kanyakumari is better than all other Tamil Nadu districts in many ways. 1.Georgraphy Kanyakumari is surrounded by Indian ocean on the south, Arabian sea onthe west and tall western ghat mountains and forest on the east, so you alwaysexperience moderateclimate and good amount of rainfall through out the year..Climaticcondition prevailing there makes the district green and beautiful. 2.People Kanyakumari is aNadar majority district. Nadars are peace loving people who don't pickfights with other castes to show their caste superiority unlike some castes do.There are also Malayalis and people from fishermen community. 50% Kanyakumariansare Christians, so the environment in Kanyakumari tend to be more peaceful thanother districts. 3.Education Kanyakumariansgive importance to education. They even go to the extent of selling alltheir properties to get their children educated. As a result, literacy rate ishigh in Kanyakumari and female sex ratio is also high there. 4.Food Kanyakumariansenjoy fish everyday due to their proximity to sea. I would sayKanyakumarians are the biggest fish eaters in India. You hardly find people wearingglasses in Kanyakumari due to their food habits. Q3 If Arjunawas the best Archer and warrior of Dwapar Yuga, So why didn't Shri Krishna leftArjuna and his Chariot alone for a second in those eighteen days of war? Wasn'tLord Krishna insecured in leaving the Arjuna alone in battle field. A3 Bhanu Kiran Exploring ancient texts ofSanatana DharmaOct 14 On 14th day of Kurukshetra war, Krishna told Arjuna that the horses aretired and it needs rest for some time and also water. Hearing the words of Krishna, Arjuna released an arrowinto the ground creating a lake. ‘“In the battle, themighty-armed Janardana fearlessly addressed these words to his beloved Arjuna, supreme among men. ‘O Arjuna! In this battle, there is no well for the horsesto drink from. They desire water to drink, not to have a bath.’ Having beenthus addressed, Arjuna cheerfully replied, ‘Here.’ He struck the earth with aweapon and created a pure lake from which the horses could drink. Arrows werethe bamboos there. Arrows were the pillars and it was covered with arrows. Itwas extraordinary. Parthacreated an abode made out of arrows and this extraordinary deed was like one ofTvashtra’s. At this, Govinda laughed and spoke words of praise. In thatgreat battle, thus did Partha create a pavilion made out of arrows.”’ Source: Mahabharata translated by Bibek Debroy Jayadratha-Vadha ParvaChapter 1051(74) Krishna got down thechariot and freed the horses so that those horses can drink the water from thatlake. Though Arjuna fought on foot, his enemies were unable to counter him.Large numbers of enemies attacked Arjuna but still he did not exhibit slightestbit of fear. Sanjaya said, “The great-souled Kounteya created the water. Havingrepulsed the enemy soldiers, he then created a pavilion made out of arrows. Theimmensely radiant Vasudeva quickly descended from the chariot. He freed thehorses and removed the arrows tufted with the feathers of herons. On seeing asight that had never been seen before, a giant roar, like that of lions, arosefrom the masses of siddhas and charanas and all the soldiers. Though Kounteyafought on foot, the bulls among men who fought against him could not counterhim and it was wonderful. Large numbers of chariots and many elephants and horsesdescended on him. A6 2 Answers Nick RPh625, formerPharmacist Answered Oct 10 When actuating each pump to remove soap, a puff of air is drawn in toequalize pressure .A tiny amount of mold spores are in this air. It is not sterile. The microbes begin to slowly grow. The manufacturer puts in antimicrobialingredients, but by thetime most soap is used up, the protection diminishes. The emulsion formula ofthe soap base cracks, separatesand becomes watery. It does not harm the soap's ability to clean. It is good topour this out and rinse container before refilling. 2ND ANSWR-A . Waltman , Certified SurgicalTech, Engineer, [Ge][Ne][I][Us], handyman Answered Sep 3, 2019 If you mean that it’s watery in its dispenser at the end of the life ofthat dispenser, it could bethat the soap in question has deteriorated, or aged, in its container. If you mean that the thick liquid soap is thinner at the end of use, as in asolvent like water, it has dissolved to a point where it seems thinner. It really helps when we know which soap we are speaking of, and whatits age is, and what it is dissolved in. Otherwise, it’s just a swag(scientific wild ass guess). I hope this leads you to being more specific in your question. Q7 does itseem like lions are more loved than tigers, and lions get more credit andrecognition than tigers do when they're equally beasts? A7 Abdullahi Abdi Knows SomaliThu Your question is biased towards cultures where lions were known andrevered. In Africa,Europe and some parts of the middle east, lions were the largest knownpredators and therefore were associated with the King of the jungleor king of the beast e.t.c But in my own personal feelings, i think there is something that is just majestic aboutmale lion. its appearance and lustrous mane is unique among cats. Unlike tigers, it is not stealthy, elusive and solitary, it is not anunseen mysterious assassin that you need to flash out among thickets. Rather, the male lion stands tall and proud with acommanding stature, it is as if it owns the world. Q8 Whatevolutionary purpose do slanted/smaller eyes serve? A8 Nick Lilavois Former SeniorTechnologist at Educational Multimedia Technology (1985–2009)Oct 18 First- Asian eyesare not smaller. They just lack a crease in the upper eyelid, so theeyelid flesh hangs down. Second- Evolutionis NOT driven by purpose. Evolution is not a god, evolution does not design. Traits happen atrandom. If a trait prevents individuals from reproducing, it dies out.If a trait helps individuals reproduce, OR if it neither helps nor hinders, itgets passed down to the next generation. At some point, there was a mutation of the eyelid. It got passed down in that populationwith all other non-negative traits. Q9 Why domany laptops run on 19 volts? A11 Sangram SagarE Commerce Consultant atSelf Employed (Ecommrce) (2010–present)Thu I've been toDubai and found it a pretty boring city. Especially for people whoare not rich. We can't do anything there because the entertainment there is luxury and shoppingfor expensive goods. There is no view at all. Yes, only tall buildings and luxury buildingsare there to be the object of photographs, the rest is just sand. Yes, this is entertainment. Seeing the sand is the same as walking inthe sand. During the trip, the pavement is just sand, so if we don't live in a luxurious area. I like going to themall. But Dubai Mall is too big and in my opinion, it's monotonous. When I wentto Dubai, I shopped at a factory outlet or some kind of discount shopnext to the hotel. Lots of cheap branded stuff that is really cheap. Vans 300thousand, Balmain under 1 million, Tommy Hilfiger sweater 150 thousand. So my advice, if thebudget for traveling is not up to hundreds of millions/day/people, don't go toDubai. It's a loss, it's better to go on a road trip to European countries(during a road trip on the road, we can cry happily if we are in Europe, thescenery is good) Q12 What doMaharashtrians think about Tamil Nadu and it's people? A1 Rahul I live in Maharashtra.Updated Oct14 As a Tamil born and brought up in Maharashtra, I can convey whatMarathis think of Tamils. Generally Marathipeople don’t tend to differentiate between the Southern states. They too generallybelieve all of South is ‘Madraas’, and if specifically asked about TN they onlyknow 3 cities on an average : Chennai, Rameswaram and Kanyakumari. Marathis are greatfans of Idli, Dosa, Vada, Uttappam and much importantly, ‘Paniyaaram’ (inTamil) or ‘Appe’ in Marathi. They love South Indian breakfast recipes a lot,and often say they are envious of Tamils that they get to eat such a tastyeatable Idli/Dosa everyday. They seriously love South Indian restaurants. They oftenask me “Eh Rahul.. Tum log itna Masta Sambar aur Chutney kaise Banateho?” (Rahul, how do u people make so tasty Sambar and Chutney)?.. They produce ‘Saambaar’ as ‘Saambar’, ‘Dosa’ as ‘Ḍosaa’. Rajinikanth is theone of the first persons to flash in the mind for Marathi people when theythink of Tamils and Tamilnadu side. (Fun fact : Rajinikanth himself is aMarathi, though almost 90% Marathis are unaware of this). Some others include Abdul Kalam,Jayalalithaa, etc. ‘Oh Anna!’ isvery popular among Marathis to denote Southerners 😂. Indeed when we they address me‘Anna!’ it feels very dignified as Anna means ‘elder brother’ or ‘Apna Bhai’Gunda type! ‘Anda Inda Pundu Gundu’ is the expression that comes to their mind whenthey think of the language. Laddoo’ and ‘Jalebi’comes to their mind when they the scripts. People think we wear Lungi 24x7. Even if we wear Veshti, people mistakeit as ‘White Lungi’! They know wellthat Tamil people have serious dislike against Hindi imposition, they dislikeModi and regional politics is more there. (Sad fact : Most Marathis arein a false impression that Hindi is our national language, it should be ourfirst preference over mother tongue, it makes us more patriotic as they thinkIndia >>> Maharashtra). Marathis thinkBalaji (Lord Venkateswara) is the main God of South people including Tamils(which in fact isn’t true). Lord Balaji is quite popular in MH. O yeah, they do like some Southern movies too. Some songs like ‘ApadiPode Pode’ (Tamil ; Apdi Podu Podu), ‘Arrara Nakka Mukka’, ‘Why this Kolaa veriKolaa Veri di’ (Tamil : Why this Kolaveri Kolaveri di?) are very popular. Karnataka andTamilnadu are considered somewhat same as both are in South. Unfortunately, many Marathis do not know the history of the Maratha kingdom of Thanjavur inTamilnadu that ruled the region for almost 250 years and contributed highly tothe arts and literature of Marathi, Telugu, Tamil and Sanskrit languages.
