Pranam 1 PANCHA MAHA YAGNA 1. Deva-yagna : Worship of the Lord. Deva-yagna is worship of the Lord in any form: puja, japa, going to the temple. It is not meant for monetary gain, but for spiritual gain.
2. Pitr- yagna : Worship of parents and forefathers. Pitr-yagna is respecting our parents and taking care of them. Forefathers, alive or dead, should be treated with reverence. 3. Brahma-yagna : Worship of the scriptures and the rishis who gave us the scriptures. Brahma-yagna is ensuring that we treat our scriptures properly. It also means regular reading of the scriptures and studying and promoting them whenever possible 4. Manusya-yagna : Worship of or service to humanity. Manusya-yagna is performing all types of social services: taking care of the needy, the poor, the sick and so on. 5. Bhuta-yagna : Worship and service of all other living beings. Bhuta-yagna is respect towards all life. This includes animals, birds, plants; in a nutshell, the earth. 6. And not “The Sacrifice to Bhutas Feeding the creatures (Bali)Feeding poor, animals, birds "Bali Bhauto"// Feed someone poorer //Mere study or sacrifice as narrated. 2 Pancha Maha Yagna consists of the five yagnas to be performed by Grahastas or householders. People in other three stages of life – Brahmacharya, Vanaprastha and Sanyasa – depend on the fruitful completion of Pancha Maha Yagna by Grihastha. The Pancha Maha Yagna is also known by the names of Ahutam, Hutam, Prahutam, Brahmahutam and Prashitam. Those householders not performing these five yagna is equal to dead. A householder who performs the Pancha Maha Yagna is more pious than a Sanyasi. Every Family should perform the Pancha Maha Yagna every day. *yajnarthat karmano ’nyatra loko ’yam karma-bandhanah tad-artham karma kaunteya mukta-sangah samachara (B G 3.9)* *BG 3.9*: Work must be done as a *yajña* (sacrifice) to the Supreme Lord; otherwise, work causes bondage in this material world. Therefore, O son of Kunti, perform your prescribed duties, without being attached to the results, for the satisfaction of God. *saha-yajnah prajah srishtva purovacha prajapatih anena prasavishyadhvam esha vo ’stvishta-kama-dhuk* *BG 3.10*: In the beginning of creation, Brahma created humankind along with duties, and said, “Prosper in the performance of these *yajñas* (sacrifices), for they shall bestow upon you all you wish to achieve.” *devan bhavayatanena te deva bhavayantu vah parasparam bhavayantah shreyah param avapsyatha* *BG 3.11*: By your sacrifices the celestial gods will be pleased, and by cooperation between humans and the celestial gods, prosperity will reign for all. B G speaks about the Maha pancha yagna as the duty of the Grihastha for satsangha which is spoken, by author David in How God works. This was the way of life of Grihastha once; now we do the same thing; Reading; worshipping; taking care of elders; taking care of all other specie; and the service to humanity. Action is ultimate.
