 Q1 What was theorigin of meditation?

A1 All systems of Indian philosophy claim to be derived from the Veda butthe 
Veda itself are a record of the sages who realized the truth within. Tosolve 
life’s questions related to nature of life, death, birth, cosmic/individual 
existence, they started making rational inquiries, observations. Unable to find 
satisfactory answers,they discovered various methods of meditation that help 
one attain the higherlevels of consciousness in which one may have direct 
experience ofthe truth

Q2 What is thedifference between Asthika and nasthika?

A2 When a teacher advocates a new philosophical system, he citesestablished 
scriptures or the writings of authorized sages to support hisstatements. The 
Astikaor orthodox schools always refer to the Veda to support their theories.

 The Nastika orunorthodox schools do not accept the authority of the Veda but 
follow theauthority of their founder

Q3 Which are thefour maths organized by Sankaracharya?

A3 Establishment of Four Mathas at Joshimat, Puri, Dwarka and Sringeri.

With a view to promote cultural unity of India orBharat, passing on of the 
great wisdom of the Rishis through generations, heasked his disciples to 
establish four centers of spiritual learning in thecountry, Joshimat in the 
North, Sringri in the South, Dwarka in the West andPuri in the East 

Although Kanchi was not one of the four centres, theMatha at Kanchipuram was 
also founded by Sankaracharya

According to tradition Sankaracharya  brought five Lingas from Kailash 
andconsecrated them at five holy places. Kedarnath in U.P., Nilakantha-Ksetra 
inNepal, Cidambaram, Kanchi and Sringeri.

Q4 What is the comment on Vedas by Maxmullar?

A4 Vedas are the oldest,the most authentic and the most sacred scriptures to 
understand the mysteriesof nature. According to Maxmuller, a renowned German 
scholar of the Vedas, 'Vedasare oldestbooks in the library of the world.' 

Q5 What is1)PRARABDHA, and 2) ANARABDHA ?

A5 People who believe in destiny, have classified theKarma (action) in two 
parts (1) PRARABDHA,
2) ANARABDHA

Prarabdha means those actions, which were committed in the previouslife and the 
results of which one faces in the present life. 

Anarabdha means those actions, which are committed in the presentlife, or are 
about to be committed and the results will be faced in the nextbirth. 

Q6 Is there adifferent meaning than the demon for ASURA?

A6 YES YES .In the oldest parts of the Rig Veda, the term was used for the 
Supreme Spirit, the bestowed ofbeneficence to the world. 

Q7 How manyAswamedham by a king would enable a king to become Indra?

A7  It was believed that theperformance of onehundred such  aswamedha 
sacrifices wouldenable a mortal king to ascend the throne of Indra, and to 
becomethe ruler of the universe and the sovereign of gods.

 A9  The basic mantras for every dayrecitation and early siddhi attainment of 
one's mantras are 

 "Om NamoShivaye".

"Om NamoNarayane Aye Namaha".

"Om NamoBhagwate Vasdev Aye Namaha".

 Q10  What are the Mantras forwealth and success?

 A10  For wealth : "Omnamodhandaye swaha"

For successful completion of all jobs : "Om namo sarvarthsadhniswaha"

 Q11  Which are the simple mantras are given whichcan be recited by anyone?

A11  Some simplemantras are given which can be recited by anyone and help 
achieve what thesadhak wants. They have simple or no methodology associated 
with them.

Panch Akshari - "Om Namah Shivaye" - It fulfils alldesires.It leads to moksha 
and all sins are destroyed. It has no methodologyassocaited and can be recited 
by anyone anytime.

Asht Akshari - "Om NamahNarayanaya" - One can achieve and can be blessed with 
anything.

 Q12  Which are the specific manthras to Ganapathi,Hanuman and Saraswathi?

A12 GanpatiMantra -"Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha" - It not only removesall 
obstacles but also gives success in one's efforts. 


Hanuman Mantra - "Om Hoom Hanumate Rudratamakaye hoom phutswaha" - There is no 
favour that Hanumanji cannot bestow. Hanumanji is theembodiment of all good 
qualities which he freely gives to his devotees.

Saraswati Mantra -"Om Aim Kleeng Saum Saraswatiya Namaha" - Itmakes a person a 
learned scholar and he attains high profeciency in education.This mantra should 
be recited all morning pujas.

My note- I have just added the above question  answer. Always take  blessings 
and instruction of a guru beforereciting the above beejamanthras.

Q13 What istantric medicine?

A13  Tantra deals with themedicinal and other uses of plants. This is called 
'Kalpa Tantra'.Some of theimportant plants are

Vajara Danti : The plant is well known as its roots are used forcleaning the 
teeth. It is a herbal plant with a great medicinal and tantricvalue. If the 
root or skin is kept between teeth for 21 days, the teeth becomestrong.

Danwantri :The plant is available in Jammu-Kashmir area andbeing called as 
Dhanuri by the local people. The plant is about three feet inheight and its 
growth is about two feet. This plant shines and twinkles like a fire during the 
night. Its leavesare pointed and some thorns are found with its roots. The 
trunk, leaves and itsroots are very valuable and are used to cure many 
diseases. One does not feelhunger and thirst for 24 hours if one takes just one 
leaf 

For ladies, theplant acts like magic. The powderif taken by them for a month 
makes them beautiful and the body becomes lean andattractive

A14  The asterism occupying 270040' to 2800 54' 13" of the zodiac. It is 
represented by three stars, whichincludes Vega, thebrightest star of the 
northern hemisphere. A name of Vishnu, Krishna acknowledges it to representhim. 
Brahma presides over the star. It is important in Muhurtha(q.v.) determination

 Q15 Who is Aditi?

A15  ADITI-A Vedic goddess representing the primevalgenerator of all that 
emanated. The Rig Veda describes it as thefather and mother of all gods; it is 
named Devamatri, mother of all gods, or Swabhavat, that whichexists by itself. 
She is frequently implored for blessing children and cattle,for protection and 
forgiveness.

Q16 Who isAditya?

A16ADITYA-Meaning, born of Aditi. Born asVivaswan, a son of Kashyapa and Aditi, 
Adityas are divine intelligencesupervising and maintaining the cosmic 
evolutionary process. They are alsoknown as Suryas, Vasus,and by several other 
names

Aditi is said to have given birth to 8 Adityas, 7 of whom she gave to thegods, 
and they became different planets. The eighth one, named Martand, wasthought 
dead and was cast away. It became the Sun of the present solar system.

Q17  What are the details of sage AGASTYA?

A17  Traditionclaims sage AGASTYA to be still living in the South Indian hills 
where he wentto teach science and literature and to revive occult teachings. 
Many hymns in the Rigveda are attributed to him. He and Vashishtha are said to 
be the offspring of Mitraand Varuna .

In the Ramayana, he is said to have received Rama, his wife Sita andyounger 
brother Lakshmana at his hermitage and presented Rama with the bow ofVishnu, 
the arrows of Brahma, the quiver of Indra, and an invincible sword. Healso 
presented him with a rare jewel obtained from the dead king Sweta.

A18  Oneof the most ancient and most sacred objects of Hindu worship, Agni 
appears in threephases:G) as Sun in heaven, GO as lightning in midair, and

 Agni is one of the three great deities in the Vedas,viz., Agni, Vayu (or 
Indra) and Surya, who preside on earth, air and sky,respectively, and are equal 
in dignity. 

Agni is considered as the mediator between men and gods, as protector of men 
and theirhomes, and a witness to their actions 

Agni is one of the Panch Bhutas (q.v.) and represents the primordial firewhich 
carries forth life essence in all forms of manifestation. It exists in 
them,either in latency or expressed in their actions.

Agni hadthree sons, Pavaka, Pavamana, and Suchi, who were condemned by 
Vashistha to beborn repeatedly.

 The three sons ofAgni had 45 sons, so the family had altogether 49 
personsidentified with the 49 fires. They produced physical, psychic and 
spiritualenergies in men by their permutations and combinations 

 The seven flamesof fire are named Kali (black), Karali (fierce), 
Manojava(mind-swift), Sulohita (blood-red), Sudhumravarna 
(smoke-coloured),Vishwaruch-devi (universally attractive), and Sphulingini 
(scintillating). Theyare the seven channels of cosmic, mundane and human 
evolutions

AGNIVESHA-A sage, a son of Agni, and an ancient writer onmedicine.

The Sun is the visiblesymbol of cosmic fire functioning in the solar system; it 
vibrates atthe highest spiritual level in man. Mars represents fire at the 
physical level,imparting to it the necessary vigour, enthusiasm and initiative. 
Jupiterabsorbs the life force radiating from the Sun, and distributes it 
throughoutthe body for sustaining and protecting it from any untoward calamity

Q19  who is AGNIHOTRI?

A19  Thepriest who served the fire god and performed Agni Hotra every morning 
andevening as a duty enjoined upon the householders, offering Homa, oblations, 
toit.

Q20  who is Ahalya?

A20 AHALYA-The most beautiful woman created by Brahma and given inmarriage to 
Gautam Indra, in the guise of Sage Gautam, seduced herBut Indra once again 
seduced Ahalya and this time the sage turned Ahalya into astone This episode of 
Ahalya's seduction by Indra is explained mythological asIndra (Sun's carrying 
away the shades of night, as the name Ahalya also meansand signifies night. 


My note- There isversion that Ahalya sprang up as asmall girl during churning 
of milky ocean. 

Q21  Who was Aja?

A21  AJA- It is the name of a prince in the solar race of kings. He is said to 
bethe son of Raghu, in a Swayamvara (where a bride herself selects her 
husband). Whentheir son Dasharath, the father of Rama, grew up, Aja ascended to 
Indra'sheaven

 Q22 Who is  Amba?

A22   Ambais also the name of the eldest of the seven Pleiades, the heavenly 
sisters,each of whom was married to the seven sages of the constellation Great 
Bear.

Q23  Who is Angeeras?

A23  ANGIRAS-A Vedic sage, Many hymns of the Rig Veda are attributed to him. 
All Rishisaccorded him high status. He is included as one of the seven 
Maharishis, one ofthe ten Prajapatis, and a frequent companion of Indra.

Angiras is alsoconsidered an epithet for the father of Agni. He is connected 
with hymns addressed to Agni, Indraand other luminous deities

 His wives are Smriti (memory), Shradha (reverence), Swaha (oblation), andSad 
(truth). His daughters were Richas (Vedic hymns). His sons were the Manescalled 
Havishmats. Utathya, Brihaspati, and Markandeya were also said to be hissons

Q24 What isANULOMA and Viloma?

A24Anuloma refers to a Birh of a child of a motherwhose caste is inferior to 
that of the father. Viloma refers to the birth whenthe mother is superior in 
caste to that of the father. 


Q25  Who are APSARAS?

A25  -APSARASCelebrated nymphs of Indra's heaven. Literally the word means 
‘moving in thewater’; these nymphs are said to have emerged as a result of the 
churning ofthe ocean and are very fond of water sports. They are able to change 
their forms and arevery liberal in granting their favours. At Indra's instance, 
they oftendetract the sages from their austerities, specially when Indra feels 
his thronethreatened. They are denizens of Anatariksha (q.v.).

Q26Who were the wives and chldrens through them of Arjuna other than Panchali?

A26  Duringthe period of exile, he married Ulupi, a Naga princess and by her he 
had a son named Iravat. Healso married Chitrangada,a daughter of the king of 
Manipur, and from her he had a son named Babruvahan.He visited Krishna at 
Dwaraka and there he married Subhadra, the sister of Krishna. By her hehad a 
son, named Abhimanyu

belongto the Pitrs... when Sun moves to the North he is amongst the Devas while 
in Southamongst Pitrs". Pitryanagot confused with Daksinayana and Yama got 
shifted to the summersolstice in the tropical Calendar with the passage of time

 Q31 What is the importance of Abhijit Muhurta ?

A31 Abhijit Muhurta occurs when the Sun is inexact mid-heaven i.e. the 10th 
house (around mid-day) and all evils are destroyed atthis time

Q32  Is  there any reference to Buddaha gaya in Lyrics?

A32 Yes . The Srimad Bhagavatam written by Parasara’s son Vyasadeva states 
thefollowing about Buddha: Canto 1:1:24 “Then, in the beginning of Kali-yuga, 
theLord will appear as Lord Buddha, the son of Anjana, in the province of 
Gaya,just for the purpose of deluding those who are  envious of the faithful 
theist."
