Q1         What are the safety measures ofhandling electricity?

A1         Gopala Krishnan, former AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966-2004) Answered justnow

Three important safety measures 1.  Wear insulatedfoot wear or ensure rubber
mat is provided before the equipment to be handled.2 Wear safety gloves.  3 Use
of phasetester.

For the aged. If at all you were an electricengineer, call electricians for
work. Due to age one can forget things, handsmay shiver, fall from heights.

If more safety is required switch of electric supplymains and work. If
UPSsupply is there switch OFF UPS.

Personsnot knowing more about electric current should not touch electric
equipment forsetting right fault.

In Chennai, India, even electric line men switch offsupply to the area where he
is going to work, set right defects, then switch ONsupply.

Q2        Which among Andhra, Karnataka, TamilNadu, and Kerala has the best
dosa?

A2                                  KanthaswamyBalasubramaniam Lawyer Mon

TheTastiest Dosas I have Tasted in my life are :-

Ghee Roast Dosa -Jyoti Vihar Restaurant, Kolkata

Benne Masala RoastDosa - CTR Restaurant, Bangalore

Rava Roast -Adigas, Bangalore

Butter Masala Dosa- Krishna Restaurant, Chennai

Ghee Dosa - UnknownEatery, Srirangam, Trichy

Butter Masala Dosa-Forgotten the name of the Eatery, SBI Colony, Chennai (Near
Abhiramapuram)

Bangalore.

TheKey is not the State but the Restaurant

ADosa has to be perfect

Crisp throughout without any part being soggy but at thetime not too oily

When you begineating by tearing off piece by piece - the pieces should not
crack to pieces,it should be smooth and firm as you tear the Dosa.

Each Piece should be used to scoop Coconut, Pudhina orOnion Chutney and not
Sambar. Uthappam can beused with Sambar because an Uthappam can absorb the
Sambar but a Crisp RoastDosa should not be able to absorb Sambar in general and
is thus normally eatenwithout Sambar.

As you tear and eateach piece -your fingers should not absorb oil from the
Dosa. Melted Butter isfine but not oil    When you taste thedosa - there should
be a single blend taste and the piece should crumble inyour mouth and not crack
like Potato chips (Then the Dosa becomes Too crisp)

Today the Dosa is an Indian Dish and so you can no longersay which State has
the Best Dosa.

Every State hasexcellent eateries serving Dosa. Even Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai
have eateries thatserve very tasty Dosa.

Its just aboutwhich is the Best Restaurant in that City.

And Rule no 1 -ALWAYS DINE IN TO EAT DOSA - NEVER ORDER FROM SWIGGY/ZOMATO OR
TAKE AWAY

Q3         Do cheap car batteries give a carperformance asgood as expensive
ones?

A3          Gene Smith Associates in Business & Small Businesses, Greenville
TechnicalCollege (Graduated 1984)Nov 19

Ithas been my experience that they do.

I have soldhigh-end batteries, refurbished batteries, factory second batteries,
and usedbatteries.

Back in the day, the more expensive batteries actuallyhad more lead and did
perform better longer but currently I can tell nodifference.

I believe that themain thing you pay for is the warranty.

The only problem isthat the warranty on new batteries is “pro-rated” which
means that the longeryou get to use it, the less the warranty will pay for a
new battery.

So if you buy a 60month battery for $100 from Walmart and it goes out in 40
months, the warrantywill only pay about $65.

Look, almost allcar batteries will last 40 month and most will last 60 months.

I can afford a 60month battery but I run the factory second batteries that can
be bought for$60.

I get great servicefrom them and when I do need another one, it doesn't hurt
the bank accountnearly as badly.

Plus I don't haveto worry about keeping receipts.

Cows have to be milked every morning. Having fulludders would be painful to the
cows. A German woman once told me her mother hadrheumatoid arthritis. She had
to milk the cows, regardless of the weather. Before electricity, people worked
from sunrise to sunset. During the harvestmoon, they took advantage of the
moonlight to harvest crops.

Fun Fact: the acre is based on how much land ateam of oxen could plow from
sunrise to sunset. It's c.0.4 hectares.

A team of drafthorses could plow 1.5 to 2 acres per day.

Africa is where humans evolved, and the groups ofhumans who left Africa each
went through a genetic bottleneck. They were onlysmall initial groups, so they

Q9         Why does an 18 degree Celsius settingin an air conditioner feel a
lot colder than an actual 18 degree Celsiusweather temperature?

A9        4 Answers     Josh Velson , Chemical Engineer Answered Jan 21, 2015

Because an air conditioner doesn't output air at thetemperature it's set to.
That would be veryinefficient. It outputs air at a temperature well below that
which it is set toand depends on advection - heat transfer through mixing - to
get to the desiredtemperature. So if youstand near the vent of an air
conditioner, chances are you're not only feelingcooler than you would at the
same temperature the air conditioner is set to,the temperature is actually
lower than the set point. Thetemperature variation exists because the rooms we
air condition often have poorair circulation. If you stand directly in front of
the vent, then of course youfeel colder than the temperature setting, because
it is colder.

Humidity effects also matter, because cooler air hasa lower carrying capacity
for water vapor. However, most air conditioning unitsdon't include integral
dehydration, so this effect is only really discerniblein tropical regions where
it is both hot and relative humidity is well above50%. In addition, if standing
directly in front of the vent, you willexperience wind chill.

2nd answer- Larry Guthrie , works atRetirementAnswered Jul 4, 2018

Josh’s answer ispretty good until the last paragraph. All compressor type air
conditioners, which is a very high majority, remove water from the air. This is
one of the reasonsfor not getting a too large AC unit. You want the AC to run
for long periods oftime, not cool quickly and shut off, because then they don’t
reduce thehumidity, or as Josh says dehydrate. All AC units have water dripping
from them. That is the machineremoving water from the air.

Q10     Which is the worst South Indian food itemin India?

A10      Priya B Chander An Indian housewife Mon

Asa nine year old, It was my first trip to Guruvayoor (Kerala) for
ritualisticpurposes. We headed to the nearest restaurant once we were through
with theceremonies and what we see on our plate is this.

Kerala boiled rice (Matta rice).

Notsure if it was served as it was the usual rice served to everyone or it
wasbecause we didn't request for the regular variety.

Thesambar despite being okaaish, couldn't manage to push the rice down my
throatand there was no curd. Only buttermilk. So, I ended up eating nothing.

Thisincident taught me to check for the type of rice during my subsequent trips
toKerala.

Nooffence to the staple food of Kerala as it's more a matter of convenience
andbeing used to certain things since childhood. I prefer my comfort zone of
being able to eat the regularvariety (as in
Tamilnadu/Karnataka/Andhra/Telengana) to the boiled oneof Kerala.

Banana stem.

Handsdown on the loads of nourishments and its ease in digestion in lieu of
itsfibrous nature.

Yet,I can never being myself to have any dish prepared out of it without a
constantreminder of its benefits.

Unlikecucumbers and carrots, which I find easy to consume raw, banana stem is
taxing to eat despite beingfully cooked.

Andit's quite a task to cut it too. There are layers which need peeling
beforegetting to the edible part.

Vella seedai.

Evensnack is a food item, albeit not on a regular basis. This is a
traditionalsweet snack which is prepared in Tamilnadu during the Krishna
Janmashtamifestival.

Assomeone who prefers sweets to possess a soft and a melting quality, I find it
totally against myteeth and taste buds.

Iprefer the other salt variant though, which is the Uppu sedai.
