Q2 What is inside the digestive system while it's empty? A2 Ken Saladin Formerprofessor of histology (microscopic anatomy)Sun If it’s empty, then by definition there’s nothing in it. That’s whatempty means, right? But the tract is neverabsolutely empty. Even if it’s beena long time since any food was taken in—say, if we were examining the digestivetract when one first arises in the morning and hasn’t eaten yet—the stomach and small intestinestill have a watery, light yellow to yellow-green slurry of fluidcontaining mucus, loose and semi digested epithelial cells, and bile, and thelarge intestine contains feces, composed of food residue, mucus, and a massivepopulation of bacteria. Sat India of the 6th century was most developed and richer than all othercountries of the then time period, viz., the 6 th century. One cannot compare India of that period with India ofthis period. And of course not, India is much more developed today. It is just that, today thereare other countries that are much more developed. It's palm( Nonku in Tamil) , it's verydelicious 😋 and islike ice cubes in hot summer.Do , give it a try. My note- I have not seen nonkusold in Trivandrum/my home. Q8 Is it true that using hot water in the washing machine in place ofnormal water cleans clothes more effectively? If yes, why? A8 Peter Zasowski , studiedat Texas A&M University Answered Mar 30, 2015 The short answer is yes. Backwhen I was on the designteam for the high end whirlpool front loaders it was said that heating is cleaning...that said it is not always true. Some proteins can becomeharder to remove when heated (blood and some food stains). Modern washers use little water and are designed to be gentle on theclothes. This means that the mechanical cleaning action is superseded by the chemical cleaningaction (try experimenting with different detergents for reallytweeking your wash). This chemicalcleaning action is usually helped by higher temps. The solubility ofsalts and other polar molecules in water is increased and the ability of thedetergent to emulsify oils is increased (as well as the viscosity of the oilsbeing lowered allowing the solution to pull it out of fiber capillaries moreeffectively). The downside is that the supermajority of wash energy used is in hot water. Even a large washer tends to use only a fraction of a kWh for a load. 2nd answer HrishikeshAvhad, Freelancer, Tutor,EntrepreneurUpdated Dec 3, 2018 If you look at washing machine there's already option of washing certainclothes at particular temperature.. Certain clothes requirespecific temperature and good quality detergent to make them hygienic and clean. For example if you adjust the button to Baby clothes , cotton , synthetic, etc , machine shows temperature range 15 ,30,45,etc (in degrees ) So, choose the particular type of clothes ,and accordingly wash them atthe temperature shown by the machine by setting the range properly. 3rd answer- MikeDannheimAnswered Mar 19, 2015 Yes. Well, WARM water anyway -not necessarily HOT.Moderation is the safest answer. Warmer water melts more grease stains and bodyoils that would otherwise remain stiffer in cooler water, so you need lessdetergent and less mechanical effort. Less detergent in the waste water meanslower sewage treatment costs later. Less mechanical effort means lower powerrequired to run the process. HOT water might damage some fabrics, requires morepower to heat, and loses more heat while being piped to the washing location.Granted, a washing machine set on WARM or HOT still requires the same hot waterpipe, but on WARM that hot water pipe transports less hot water because thesame volume of water comes from a mixture of COLD and HOT at the machine, cutting the HOT water used in half, so the saving is real. My note- Washermen on thosedays used to keep clotheson steam produced from water added withwashing soda and washed in river water. Q9 When did people stop using bread boxes? A9 Bhuvana RameshwarObservehumans Updated Nov 25 I remember using bread boxessome 30 years ago. At thattime bread was bought from the local bakery. It was soft and even warm to touchif the baker had just then taken them out from the oven and baking room. It wasthen sliced by him and wrapped in old newspaper and given to us. So were thebuns. These we had on that day itself unless we bought two loaves. Then theremaining had to kept in air tight, bread boxes. We had one made of wood andone later made of plastic. This helped to keep away rats, mice or roaches. Itretained moisture too in the bread and would not let it become dry or get anymould if it was a rainy day. I But these bread boxes soon changed into medicine kits or thread boxes asbreads now come wrapped in good quality transparent plastic bags. They aresliced uniformly by machines. After use we can close them on the top with aclip or a rubber band. We then keep them in the fridge until next use. Factorymade breads are now popular, available everywhere and come with enoughpreservatives so stay longer too in the fridge. I still like the local bakerymade saltish tasting bread rather than the sweet tasting factory breads . Thebread made by our local bakers are softer, more aerated, light weight and smellgood of cooked yeast. My note- Bread box is a newinformation to me. Q10 Why do some people travel in 1A (first class) traininstead of taking a flight, which has almost same or slightly more fare? A10 Sangeeta Lives inChennai, Tamil Nadu, IndiaFri My father is a retired railway employee. I was born and bought up inMumbai and my native is down south. I remember the golden days when we use totravel to my native. The journey lasted for 2 days. It used to be a fun journey. Family time.Time for my mom to take some rest. Time for us to spend some time with myfather. The moving scenery from the train was mesmerizingly beautiful. The trees, the mountains, the farms, the dry lands, and the jungle. We use to sit anddiscuss all random stories without any disturbance (thank God, those days wedidn't have mobile phones). Mom cooks 365 days in a year and these two days, she use to take her rest. During those days, we use totravel by First Class (Non-AC).I still recollect the compartment forfour. We use to lock the door and spend some awesome family time. Now, coming back to yourquestion… These days, I travel by 1st ACfrom Chennai to my native. Its an overnight journey. I never prefer to take a flight. It is not aboutmoney. Since my childhood days, Iloved the train journey and now, I re-live it with little extra luxury. The comfort that we get in 1st AC is just unmatchable as compared to thecrunched sitting place in the flight (Yes, I cannot afford a business class). Me and my husband book a coup and just relax. He would just open to taband watch a movie. I would pull a book and start with my reading. Apart from the comfort that train offers, the flight is kind ofuncomfortable for me. I would prefer to sleep for 8 hours rather than sittingin a crumpled place for 2 hours. Down south is not well connected with the airport so from the airport, Ihave to take road for next 2 hours. On the other end, after getting down at therailway station, I can take a cab and reach my native in 30 minutes. Train journey is beautiful andis a way of creating memory. On the other end, I would opt for flight journey only when I need to travelalone or if there is an emergency.
