Dear friends, Wish you all a happy, prosperousand healthy new year.
Gopalakrishnan 31-12-2021 CULTURAL QA12-2021-31 BEING A COMPILATION THERE MAY BE ERRORS Q1 Why do SBI employeesstill behave like the 90s? A1 Sushanth Khatri SelfEmployed at Unemployment Bureau of India (2020–present)Sun I am not an SBI employee but a clerk in another public bank, but I willtry to give my 2 cents on this. Before the job I hated PSB bankers for their attitude and slow work. But when I joined one, I saw anotherdimension to the problem. Imagine being made to sit till 7 or 8 without overtime pay when it isclearly mentioned in the contract, your work ends at 5. The worst part is u rstaying late not because of more work in most cases. Server down (daily for at least30 min), out dated and slow computer(50gb storage 😂) and glitchy softwares, ATM/passbook machinefailure etc, u name it. Anything that can go wrong, does go wrong. And then there is circle management running some grandiose scheme whenthe basic banking itself is screwed up just bcz they can publicize themselvesas modern. Then there is the govt with its crowd pleasing policies all thewhile forcing banks to recruit lesser every year. Don't get me wrong, i don't mind doing these works. I may not love thisjob but gratitude ofcustomer when u solve their query is golden. I just hate being madea scapegoat for the infrastructure failure and sneaky way they force us to workovertime without pay. And if u try to fight for better infrastructure, u will be targeted andthey can make ur life hell. Besides problem won't be solved anyway. At the end u will realisesomething every bank eventually does. U need to be a dick to customer if u want to reduce ur work hours andhave a life. Q2 When should you drink lemonwater? A2 Lucia Garcia Worked atHospitals Mon Drinking a glass of lemon water on an emptystomach in the morning provides many great health benefits.Lemon water has anti-inflammatory and sterilizingeffects, which can accelerate gastrointestinal motility, enhance metabolism, and eliminate toxins and garbage in the body. Lemon water is rich in vitamin C. Vitamin C is a natural antioxidant thatcan scavenge free radicals, enhance skin metabolism, and increase skinelasticity and toughness. Lemon water contains a lot of organic acids. Organic acids can stimulatebrain nerves, help improve mood, relieve fatigue, restore energy and raiseenergy level. In the morning, thedigestibility and absorption rate of the gastrointestinal tract is thestrongest, which is the besttime for the body to absorb nutrients and transport them to the internal organsand tissues. Lemon water contains protein, fat, carbohydrates, cellulose, vitamin B1,vitamin B2, niacin, vitamin C, and minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, iron, and potassium. It is the best drink to supplement body nutrition. Q3 Do you get more ofyour mother's genes or father's genes? A3 Mats Andersson Parent Sun If you are genetically female, you get the exact same amount from both parents. If you are genetically male, you got the Y chromosome from your father, and thecorresponding X chromosome from your mother, so there is a slight overweight of genes from your mother.(Those tro are basically identical, only one of the legs fell off the Ychromosome, in a manner of speaking.) This doesn’t count mitochondrial DNA, which is all from your mother. Q4 Which city is suitablefor a North Indian to live in, Bangalore or Hyderabad? A4 Titus D'silva Lives inBengaluru, Karnataka, India Sun Depends on the specific area. In Hyderabad, I heard the old Hyderabad area near Char Minar has mostlyDeccani Urdu speaking Muslims. They all speak Hindi too since it is the samelanguage. In Bangalore too, there are the same North Indian Muslims who can speakHindi. Areas like Thanisandra, Shivaji Nagar, Muslim colony are dominated byMuslims and people arebilingual in Kannada and Hindi. In Karnataka, however, Kannada is thefunctional language and Urdu is isolated to specific areas, that too, with the Muslims being bilingual. Kannada is the primary language. Both cities will be comfortable since you could simply avoid languageproblems by using apps. Big Basket, Ola, Amazon and Swiggy. Nowadays, there is really nosuch things as language problem with respect to daily life. Thefunctional language is needed only in emergency situations and even then only‘escape level’ is enough. I too got stuck in an emergency situation and wasable to manage since I could communicate to the Marathi people in Maharashtrain broken Hindi. Overall, I feel Hyderabad wouldbe better since in Hyderabad you will find more Hindi speakers. Trying to adapt to the city rather than expecting the city to conform toyour expectations is always the correct approach. It shows intelligence. Q5 What fruits help youdigest faster after a meal? A5 Lucia Garcia Worked atHospitals Mon Many experts believe that apples are the best fruit for improvingdigestion. Apples are rich in dietary fiber. According to measurements, applescontain about 1.85% of dietary fiber, of which insoluble dietary fiber is 1.42%and soluble dietary fiber is 0.43%. It is worth mentioning that the dietary fiber content of apple peel ismuch higher than that of fruit pulp, which is 2 to 3 times that of fruit pulp. Dietary fiber is a polysaccharide, it can neither be digested andabsorbed by the gastrointestinal tract, nor can it produce energy. After the dietary fiber enters the gastrointestinal tract, it canaccelerate gastrointestinal peristalsis, enhance metabolism, and reduce theresidence time of food and feces. In addition, dietary fiberswells with water, can absorb toxins, fat and cholesterol in the gastrointestinal tract, and promote theirexcretion, which is very beneficial to the digestive system. My note- In Chennai quality applecost above 350-00 for a kg!!! Q6 What things shouldparents keep in mind after their son marries? A6 Ramadevi GiduguFormerSelf Employed, Full Time Mother.8h Should know their boundaries. Not because he is getting married, just because heis an adult son. Let him manage his duties, responsibilities in his style. Let him enjoy his rights. Don't interfere and give unsolicitedadvice. If you want, you can help him with few things but definitely don'ttrouble him with your over enthusiasm and excitement. In my case I took help from our daughters. What inconveniences they facedin in law's house I gathered information. So, I could be prepared.I took care to avoid those. Our daughters said, once they step in their in-law's house, immediatelyfrom towel to brush and tooth paste they have to unpack from their luggage.Already they are tired enough. They have to close the bags immediately sinceone or the other keep coming to see the new bride. It's really tiresome andinconvenient job. They need little time to set their things. So, I kept a room ready with acup board full of ready to use lady's necessary things. Like, four towels, tooth brushes, pastes, soaps, few nightdresses, comfy fits. Hair oils, perfumes, other toiletries etc.One sofa I added in their room so if anyone comes they don't sit ontheir bed directly. Room with attached bath. A small rack with ready to eatnight snacks, fruits, knife ,dustbin etc. New bride may hesitate to ask even ifshe is hungry. Understand yourself, your son is not bringing a rival to you, he isbringing his life companion. Your daughter in law, not only his wife. Understand he is your son, if you are right, you give him all rightculture and thinking abilities only, then he too would make right choice only.Don't have any prejudice about his choice. He is your blood. Why he would go wrong? If his choice is wrong anyway he comes to you, then take charge ofsituation, till then bless them with all the happiness. Pray God she should behis best choice. Don't eye her eatingquantities, other habits, remember your house is not a concentration camp. A happy home. Slowly she would observe andunderstand. Give her some time. She is new to your home. Lot of tension andnervousness she may feel. Make her feel comfortable. Till date we remember and smile, when I met my daughter in law for thefirst time in a fine dine restaurant after my son officially declared he isdating her and she is the one for him, with nervousness she hit the glass fullwith water in to my plate accidentally. My entire plate is submerged. My dressbecome wet. With tension she started eating first before every one. Foodchoked. She felt embarrassed almost teary eyed. My husband assured her it doesn't matter and served her some hot soup. Myson got up and wrapped his hand around her. I sat next to her so I held her left palm assuring her itis not a big thing. We all assured her with a warm smile ‘it's ok. You care for us that's whyyou are nervous. You want to impress us that's why you are worried and panic.’Now we all are impressed. You are our would be daughter in law. Okay? Now calmdown.’ they would change the table.’ We requested the waiting staff. They obliged with a smile. She slowlybecome normal. Gave me a warm hug while leaving. She is the darling of our house now. A loving daughter in law. What Iwant to tell all in-laws is, We lived our life according toour own terms, now it's children's turn. Don't try to live their life also. It's not correct. Advise if they are going in to a wrong path, if their decisions wouldburn them and ruin them. Because, you have experience of your age. otherwise don't interfere withtheir lives day to day. Until asked don't pour yourwisdom. There is a generation gap which cannot be ignored. Discipline and punishment, these two are different. House needsdiscipline. Not punishment. So, you can tell them the rules of the house, having said that, your home is not a royal dynasty to follow rigid rules.Update and improve, if necessary, amend the rules of the house. Instead of justa house it will become a happy home for every one. Make your entertainment and outings separate. Except occasionally don't join them always wherever they go. It's their courtesy to invite you. Show your maturity by genuinely and gently declining it.They need privacy to build their life. Finally, don't become theirGPS, don't become their spy camera, don't sit on their heads and later don'twonder why you are not becoming grandparents!! Obviously they don't want to bring children in to this house withsurveillance cameras. It suffocate them. Suddenly you need not borrow some extra qualities just because your sonis getting married. You are a mother already. Just become mother to another child. Then everything willbe fine. Remember! They are not your entertainment toys. Have your own activities, hobbies, don't complain they don't have time for you. You were also busy when you were building yourlife just like them. Now because you are free, time and people won'tstop for you. Home means accommodating and adjusting for each other happily. Notsacrificing and compromising with your happiness. All the best. My note- Really I enjoyed theanswer. But still many do notunderstand generation gap. Q7 Is it true that foodcooked in microwave could produce cancer? A7 Timothy Sly Epidemiologist, professor, RyersonUniversity, Toronto,Dec 25 We’ve been answering this for years. The answer is NO. Microwaveheating simply HEATS the food. That;s it. It’s not “radiation” at all. It’s a magnetic field that changes polarity very quickly. Magneticfields have no connection with cancer. They were first sold on theconsumer market around 1969–1970. We have seen in all that time (50 years), nota single case of illness caused by microwave ovens other than back straintrying to lift them into place on a high shelf. Q8 What is it that 99% ofIndia's people don't know? A8 Sangram Sagar Mon Do you know why plants and shrubs are grown along national highways andvarious roads? If you think it is to enhance the beauty or increase the number of trees, then friend, its use is much more than that. These shrubs or plants are usually thickets that block the glare of theheadlights. If these bushes were not there, one could be confused whether they aretraveling on the other side of the highway or on a wrong path, which may resultin an accident. In addition, the bushes perform anotherfunction. These bushes have sharp leaves and thorns which prevent the animalsfrom moving from one side to the other, thus they avoid accidents.Thisapplies to India and some other countries, although I don't know about othercountries. Q9 Why are most chemicalsstored in plastic containers instead of metal containers? A9 David Thomas Professional Engineer, Civil, Alaska Tue Because you can often select aplastic with excellent chemical resistance to the chemical you are storing. Sometimes much better than with metal. Forinstance, acids are can stored in many plastics but are highly corrosive tomild steel and many other metals. Iron and most steel rusts sothat is another issue, especially if salt water is present. Plastics aren’t as UV resistantas metal, so should be kept out of direct sunlight or have additives in them (like the carbon blackadded to car tires). Ultimately, because for most chemicals, an adequate or superior plasticcontainer can be made more cheaply than a metal one could be. Q10 If you have a bloodtransfusion, do you now carry the donor's DNA? A10 Mats Andersson Translator(1991–present)Mon No. Well, there areprobably a few random stray cells from the other person in there, but they’re goingto get mopped up by your immune system in an hour or so. What you want from the blood transfusion are two things, basically: bloodplasma, which contains proteins, antigens and all sorts of useful things, andthe red blood cells, which lack nuclei and mitochondria, and hence have no DNA. My note- After a bloodtransfusion of platelet cells in 2008, till date I have sniffing if I eat any fruit, come in contact withslight dust etc. When I contacted the doctor months aftertransfusion, I was told it is due to transfusion.
