BEING  A COMPILATION THERE MAY  BE ERRORS

Q1            Whyis an air conditioner so expensive?

A1            Gopala Krishnan, former Assistant General Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom(1966-2004)Answered just now

Because of the most important part compressor. Designing internal and
externalunit in split AC. The running capacitor, high quality copper tubing
also costs.

Normally a goodcompressor for 1.5 ton AC costs above 15000–00 during
replacement. Ihave replaced one compressor before 4 years.

Q2            Whatis the difference between boiling and hot water?

A2            Gopala Krishnan, former Assistant General Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966-2004)Answered just now

Simple question. Boilingwater is water at 100 degree centigrade hot. Hot water
is water atany temperature well above  roomtemperature . Mostly water at 40–50
degree centigrade we refer as hot water. Nohard and fast rule regarding hotness.

Q3            Whatfood item has the shortest expiration period?

A3            Ahmed Mustafa Lives inAlexandria, Egypt Updated 4h

If we consider natural beverages as liquid food, then fresh Sugarcane Juice is
the first thing thatcame to my mind.Justfood.tv

Although it is one of the most delicious drinks ever, it expires after
15minutes from its extraction, doesn't matter if it's served cold, as it
beginsto ferment and its color turns from light green to brown and its taste
becomespungent and may cause digestive problems. So whenever you crave a fresh
cane juice after consuminga spicy meal on a summer's afternoon, drink it right
away after it's juiced.

Q4            Howmuch fuel does Air Conditioning really consume in car?

A4            Roy Luger B.S. inAutomotive Engineering, Indiana State University
(Graduated 2010)Mon

Yes, it does…. According to a study published on SAGE journals, the use of
air-conditioner during the idling condition can increase thefuel consumption in
a vehicle by 90%.It's a pretty high percentage…isn’t it?

Here’s why that happens; In general the AC unit of a vehicle has thefollowing
parts;

Compressor    Condenser    Evaporator    Thermal expansion valve    Receiver or
Dryer

In addition to above said parts, it uses a refrigerant gas known asFreon.

They all works together to maintain your desired cabin temperature.

The compressor is the power unit of your vehicle’s AC unit.It uses
therotational energy of the engine to compress the refrigerant. It makes your
carengine work harder and consume more fuel.I hope my answer would help you…

Q5            Howlong can an electric water heater boil a glass of water?

A5            Venkateswara SwamySwarna, former Scientist, Metallurgist, Quality
/ NDT Manager at Department ofAtomic Energy, India (1967-2008)Answered 59m ago

Depends on the wattage of theheater and the volume of the water in the glass.
Pocket immersion heaters put in a glass of 200 mlwater can bring it to boil in
2 to 5 minutes. Be careful not to immerse the heater beyond a specifiedlevel
since short circult is possible.

Q6            Whyis there no bridge between England and France?

A6            Tony Bartlett Lives inAshford, Kent, England Updated Feb 8

The Channel is the busiest shipping lane in the world. So busy that the French
and UK authorities have toimpose a one way system on all shipping. Ships
travelling west to east use theFrench side and those travelling east to west
use thè UK side. In additionthere are inshore lanes on both sides for smaller
vesels. Final there areferries and other craft crowing directly across the
Channel

Given this amount of traffic itwould be extremely difficult and exceptionally
expensive to build the 30 milebridge. We have some furiousstorms in the Channel
in winter. I wouldn't like to be driving in one of those.

Q7            Canliquid or residue from leaking batteries cause serious harm?

A7            Gopala Krishnan ,former Assistant General Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966-2004)Answered just now

The electrolyte has 1.8 specific which is diluted acid. If one touch eye,
tongue etc burningsensation can occur. Washing immediately with plenty of clean
watercan reduce harm. Better use safety glass for eyes for protection and
gloves inhand for reducing injury. I am talking about car battery, UPS battery
etc.

Q8            Whyis a washing machine showing an error code?

A8            Sarah Jones, CountyExtension Agent, retired at Texas A&M AgriLife
Extension ServiceAnswered17m ago

Because something is wrong, that is: an error. (Hence the term)

You need to seek info from your machine’s manufacturer, perhaps on
theirwebsite, to solve this grave mystery.Yes, this was a stupid question.

2nd answer-GopalaKrishnan , former AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966-2004)Answered just now

I am answering to errors occurring with out error code. One of them is no
indication if cleaning liquid isnot added and washing cycle has started.

Second one is there is no errorcode if water inlet is blocked. Few cups of
water only may be coming from water inlet.

Once after observing motor in the machine heated more, water inlet waschecked
in my residence by the technician . Water was coming with very very lowspeed.
Block was removed in water line by a plumber , and machine functionedwell.

Q9            Whatare some unique physical traits humans have that most other
animals don’t?

A9            Gary Meaney Animal lover and zoologist Feb 11

Though there are many striking similarities between us and our closestliving
relatives, the chimpanzees and bonobos, there are also some veryconspicuous
differences. If an alien zoologist was to come down to Earth andobserve its
fauna, Homo sapiens would stand out as being anatomically weird, even if we
didn’t have much intelligence to speak of.

That said, it’s well worth noting that humans areindeed among the most
accomplished long distance runners in the animal kingdom. What’s more, horses -
perhaps the only mammals which could go toe to toe withelite marathoners - are
also the only other mammals which perspire to cooldown.

So, to me, it seems plausible if not probable that we became sweaty in order to
preventoverheating during long stretches of physical activity. If
you’rewondering, that milky lather in the photo above is indeed horse sweat -
formore on that topic, check out this ancient answer of mine.

Perspiration needs to evaporatein order to transfer the body’s heat energy to
the surrounding air. This, as I noted in the aforementioned answer, isno mean
feat whenyou’re covered in fur, since moisture clings to hair. This is partof
why hairier body parts, like the armpits, tend to feel sweatier. To
preventthis, horses secrete a soapy protein called latherin, which lubricates
theirhair and allows the sweat to slough off and evaporate.

Human evolution has opted for an alternative solution: most of our body hairs
are shortenough that they do not pose an obstacle to evaporation. They’re
soshort that humans appear largely hairless, but - interestingly enough - we
havethe exact same amount of individual hairs on our bodies as our
chimpanzeerelatives; approximately five million, that is.

That being said, humans do have a single patch of long hair on theirheads. This
is a feature that sets us apart from practically all other“hairless” mammals,
like naked mole rats, hippos, rhinos and elephants (thoughthe latter two do
have long hair on their tails). We’ve got hairyheads because, surprisingly,
thick hair can be an excellent means of coolingdown. In the equatorial noonday
sun, it helped for our ancestors to havesome fur on top, like a built-in helmet.

Q10         Iam married 6 months ago, my husband went to Dubai and I’m in a law
house. Mymother-in-law doesn't allow me to go my home. My husband is with her
side. Whatshould I do?

A10          D D Rishi Former IRS |Advocate | LL. M.,Ph.D. (Law) | Mon

If a woman gets married without being financially independent, she has tosuffer
such humiliation through out her life. It is not too late even now. Try to get
financially independent asearly as possible and live  a dignifiedlife.

Q11         Dodesktops last longer than laptops?

A11          Steve Baker SeniorSoftware Engineer (2013–present)Jan 25

Desktops - mainly because theyare VASTLY easier to repair and upgrade.

My Linux computer has been updated probably 100 times over the past 20years
(hmmm - maybe 25 years) - of course during that time, I’ve replaced everysingle
part of it (I often joke that the power cord is original - but I doubtthat’s
true).

I don’t know how many cases, mother boards, CPU’s, RAM sticks, powersupplies,
keyboards, mice, displays and graphics cards I’ve replaced - but it’sa lot. I
think it was originally a “GateWay” machine - but there is nothingleft within
it to indicate that. Most recently, I replaced the camera andmicrophone with a
Logitech and it treated it to a USB HUION pen tablet…but Isee a new
motherboard/CPU/RAM in my near future.

On the other hand, a laptop will likely go to it’s grave without beingupgraded
at all…and repairing even fairly simple problems can be a nightmare.

Every part of a desktop computer can be purchased separately from a
dozensuppliers - but laptopparts are generally only available from the original
manufacturer - and theyare generally unwilling to maintain supplies of spare
parts for long.

Laptops are so fiddly inside thatrepairing them is really very hard even if you
can get the parts.

Meanwhile, my desktop remains pretty much a mid-range PC - not cuttingedge -
but not obsolete either.

Q12         WhichMughal ruler follows the practice of monogamy?

A12          Austin Mahir YoungAdult | Hetero/Asexual | Music Lover | Asocial |
OCD21h

Monogamy was not a common thingin the medieval (late) medieval era. Even the
church could not prevent elite men from having secondaryspouses. Monogamy is
actually a Greco-roman [not biblical] tradition. So, it’dbe hard to imagine that
any Mughal emperor did not practice polygamy. I don’tknow any Mughal emperor
who practiced monogamy. But, therewas a Delhi Sultan who had practiced
monogamy. Its Sultan Nasiruddin MahmudShah. However, I don’t get it why these
Indian Muslim kings wearearrings.
