BEING A COMPILATION THERE MAY  BE ERRORS

Q1            What is Stabilizer Free Plus in LGAir Conditioners?

A1            LG India, Join the band of GoodLife. Wed

Acompressor is the most important component of an air conditioner, an
enhancedrange of stabilizer free operation prevents voltage fluctuation,
causing itdamage. Stabilizer free Plus protects the vital components of LG
AirConditioners from power fluctuations.

My note- Probably the person may bementioningbuilt in stabilizer. But one more
stabilizer outside is preferred more.

Q2            What is your favorite tier 2 city?

A2            Subramaniam Duraisamy IT Analyst Tue

Thanksfor A2A Sai Dileep. My favorite Tier-2 city is Tiruchy.

Itsthe core of ancient Tamil civilizations and has lots of history in and
aroundit.  My family [especially my mother] hasan ancient connection with the
Delta regions of Tamil Nadu- my mother did herschooling and college here, so
did my cousin who did his UG from REC.

Iwas invited by REC and BIM to present symposiums in their tech fests. For a
guywho is from a lower tier engineering college, this was an honour

Tiruchyis also a highly religious place littered with temples. Srirangam- one
of the favorite Divya Desamsis also close by. My favorite spot in Tiruchy..:)

Q3            Do all electric appliances havethermal fuses?

A3            Chris Woolf Answered 20h ago

By no means all do, although they are more commonthan many people think. In
general designers include thermal fuses or thermalswitches in anything that
might get hot through excessive, but predictable use.

Typical examples are vacuum cleanermotors. Iffilters get blocked, or if
domestic versions are used for longer than expected, then the motors can get
very hot. A thermal switch will allow them to recoverand live another day. Many
water heaters and pressing irons haveover-temperature switches or fuses to
prevent disaster.

The choice of fuse or switch - thelatter can be auto or manual reset - depends
on many things. The manufacturer may feelthat repair is economically pointless,
and provide a one-time fuse to kill itafter a major thermal “event”. They may
also chose such a fuse if they preferthe idea of a technician checking over a
device that has got too hot. However a resettable thermal switchis more
sensible for a vacuum cleaner motor that could just do with ashort rest.

Q4            How does a cat see at night?

A4            Ken Saladin Former professor ofanimal behaviour 12m

Cats have poor color vision but betternight vision than humans. The latter is
due to a mirrorlike reflective layer (tapetum lucidum) behind theretina that
gives light a second chance to pass through the retina and beabsorbed by
receptor cells. This is also what produces the “eye shine” ofnocturnal animals
seen when a light is shone on them, like car headlights.

Thefirst pair of photos below is a simulation of human versus cat night
vision. The second pair is a simulation of their day vision.[1] Not only is
thenocturnal scene brighter for the cat (because their pupils can open more
widelyand admit more light than a human’s), but it also shows two other
distinctivequalities: (1) greater resolution, because cats have a higher
density of rodcells; (2) wider peripheral vision. Note the black bars on the
ends indicatingthe lesser peripheral vision of humans.

Colorvision, human and cat. Note that cats have some color vision, but not the
fullspectrum of trichromatic vision than humans do.[2]

Eyeshine—light reflected from the tapetum lucidum.[3]

Thetapetum lucidum in a dissected eye.[4] This is cow eye, but except for size,
itlooks about the same in a cat (and in the sheep eyes I had so many
studentsdissect).Pictures not added.

Thebeige mass at the bottom is the retina, peeled back to expose the
tapetum.Normally the retina would be as clear as a sheet of cellophane (or
clearer),but in preserved eyes the fixative (such as formalin) turns it cloudy
so it hasto be peeled away to see the tapetum better.

Q5            Can a government employee selectedthrough the SSC CGL afford his
own car ranges between 15-20 lakhs?

A5            Vivek Sharma CGST Inspector, 2014batch Feb 6

Iam writing an answer after a long time. Thanks for asking this question.
Whether you can afford a car or not in thisrange?

Ans: Yes. You can buy the car by financingthe car. A car worth 16 lakhs would
result in your monthly EMI of around 32000 and some cash downpayment, which you
can manage from your own source or your declared source(family or relatives).
If you are selected in Group-B post, your salary shouldbe around 55–60k.
Therefore 70% of your salary would go in the emi.

2. Whether one should buy a car byspending 70% of the salary every month for
next 10–12 years?

Ans: A big No. Because car is adepreciating asset. Its value will depreciate by
8–10% every year. Once your loan will be over, youwill end up paying more than
22–25 lakhs to the bank and value of your car willbe hardly 2–2.5 lakhs.

Ratheri would suggest you to buy a second hand car in the range of 4–5 lakhs.
And buya flat or a house or land. It will give you benefit in Income tax also
and itsvalue shall increase over a period of time.

Please note: As per CCS rules, when ujoin a government job, you need to declare
your assets/bank balance(do declareif its a decentamount)/loan(if
any)/debt/money you gave it to anyone

Q6            Do Swedish towns and cities use salton their roads in the winter?

A6            Chris Ebbert Lives in Sweden Tue

Yes, unfortunately, road salt isbeing used here.

Notall the time, and not everywhere, because we locals are actually ok with
ourstudded winter tires and wouldn’t really need the salt. But there are trucks
coming upfrom Europe which don’t have studs, and it’s mostly for their sake the
roadsget salted.

Atleast where I live.

Wesometimes see trucks like that stuck on inclines that seem almost non
existentas early as September and as late as June. I honestly don’t understand
how theycan be allowed up here that way.

Well, anyway, that’s why we put out salt here and there, although there are
plenty ofinitiatives against it.

Thedesired alternative is a proper layer of powder snow to drive on, like this:

It’sdry and grainy and just blows away. Perfectly good to drive on.

Inthe cities, the roundabouts can be problematic, because the slow moving
carsare thawing the snow there, which then freezes over as an ice layer. So
thecity services bring out salt there at times, too.

Q7            Why doesn't the Earth go very coldduring night time, when there
is no Sun's light and heat like some parts of theMoon? I think this is because
Earth also gets heat from its core. Isn't it?

A7            Technological Ideas Stefan Hensel Feb11

Air stores heat. Land stores more heat.Water (rivers, lakes, oceans) store heat
even better and release it during thenight (and also during winter). Add
buildings, streets and plants to that(nights in the city are usually a few
grades warmer than in the countryside). If heat from the earth's core played a
significant role in that, the floorwould literally be lava.

Andby the way, in the desertyou might have 40 ⁰C in the afternoon and –10 ⁰C
before dawn, which amounts to 50 ⁰C(122 F) difference. That's pretty
impressive, don't you think?

Q8            Why do so many people care aboutrace when it really doesn't
matter?

A8            Claire Jordan Degree in biology andfolklore; programmer, shop
owner, secretary on newspaper Updated 13h

Humans are primates and primates don’tnormally live in groups of more than 200,
maximum. When we find ourselves livingin big crowds we start to make our own
smaller groups to belong to - clubs andmarching bands and churches and
whatever. Ethinicity is an easy, visible way ofidentifying “my people” out of a
confusing crowd.

Inaddition, the US in particular has an especial problem with
associatingethnicity with skin colour and making a huge deal of it. Here in the
UK peopleengaged in the slave trade because African slaves were poor and
foreign andavailable and they *could*, but all we needed to say to get out of
that was“The protections of the law should extend to foreigners and poor
people”. Butthe US made it an item of faith that “all men are created equal”
and entiled toliberty and the pursuit of happiness, and then wanted to keep
Africans asslaves, so it built up a whole philosophical reason to claim that
black peopleweren’t really human. It’s much harder to get out of that attitude
and say “Wejust made that shit up”.

Somethingsimilar happened in the sort of colonial country where European
settlers movedin en masse, as they did in South Africa and Australia (as
opposed to, say,India where it was more that they took over the top levels of
existing localgovernments). It was easier to justify taking the previous
inhabitants’ land ifyou could tell yourself they were just a sort of clever
wildlife.

Q9            Why does a person want to live inthe mountains and leave city
life?

A9            Naveen Subramanian Lived in Chennai,Tamil Nadu, India Wed

That’s fantasy - a beautiful dream - butthe reality is different. Ask any
realtor in India, and this is what peopledemand

Isthe site within a 1km radius of a super specialty hospital. Is the site within
a2 km radius from the metro

Isthe site walkable distance from a nearby auto stand, bus stand. Is the
sitesurrounded by apartments, easy to commute

Isthere an international convent/reputed school within a 2 km radius. Is there
apharmacy, restaurant, supermarket within a 1 km radius

Isthere a bank/ atm within a 1 km radius.   How safe is the neighborhood, is it
safe for women and pets

Ihave asthma, can I get a pollution-free flat on the 18th floor

Q10         Do you reuse washcloths multiple timesbefore washing them?

A10         Gopala Krishnan , former AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966-2004)Answered just now

Duringmy career period, I used to wear daily one set of dress. After
retirement, nowadays less travel, lesser period of wear, I use same dress,
sometimes three times. Difficultyof washing and ironing is the main reason for
repeated use.

2NDANSWER- Robert Goodman, lives in Andover, NJ (2016-present)Answered 11h ago

I do. As far as I can tell, it’s getting amore thoroughcleaning there in the
shower than it would in the washing machine. It’d be hardto soap up a washcloth
without scrubbing it the way one might to wash it byhand, and it’s getting a
much stronger soaping and rinsing than it would in themachine.

3RD ANSWER- Kevin Mcelroy Answered15h ago

No, i only use a wash cloth once. Why on earth wouldsomeone want to use a dirty
rag again.

Q11         What was the most important discoverymade at the bottom of the
ocean?

A11         Steven Haddock Lives in Toronto, ON (1959–present)Feb2

Thermal vents

Itwas believed that deep in the ocean where sunlight didn’t penetrate was
prettymuch a dead zone.

Not only did complex biological systemsaround thermal vents (which are much
hotter than boiling water at the surfacedue to the pressure raising the boiling
point) show that the deep ocean was teeming with life, itchanged the entire
science of biology by putting forward that the possibilitythat life on this
planet didn’t start due to lightning in the early atmosphere, but with the
creation of complex amino acids by these thermals in the deepocean. In other
words, theorganisms around these vents didn’t evolve from surface creatures who
felldown, we may have evolved from thermal vent creatures who rose up.

Asit turns out, they looked at the first experiment showing amino acids
beingformed by the early atmosphere and electricity. The same scientist tried
to dothe same thing with thermals in a deep ocean environment, but found no
aminoacids so came to the conclusion that this couldn’t be the source of
life. However, he saved his samples and analysis using more sensitive
equipmentshowed that these experiments also created amino acids, just in very
muchsmaller quantities

Q12         Which soil has the least water holdingcapacity?

A12         Rajesh Joshi ,Blogger/InfluencerAnswered 29m ago

Sand has the lowest water holdingcapacitybecause they have coarse particles
that leave a huge gap between the particles. Thus, a large amount of water and
nutrients easily escape from the soil and cannotbe retained within the sand.
