The stem of the Spinal cord could distinguish among 50,000 different smells. It did not have eyes that restrict seeing to less than one percent of the electromagnetic spectrum. Its self identity was not limited to the body, with which we identify ourselves today. In fact it could not even conceptualize itself as a physical body. It identified itself with the ever changing smell communications. Every life form lived and participated in the common perception of the Biosphere as a whole, and the Biosphere was one’s self identity. Every life form was a sprout of emotional interaction. Old sprouts faded (death) and new sprouts of life (Births), emerged- a continuous symbiotic process.
The Biosphere perceived as one organism, as the macro perception-as God. Gaia was real and there was Gaia alone, all organisms functioned as the components of the Living Gaia, just like the bacteria in us today. Every organism was bound by the clear self identity as nature, via smell interaction, inhalation and exhalation, and with the Universe via quantum entanglement, as part of the gigantic cosmic interaction. The reality then was the feeling of the macro identity with the Biosphere as a whole and with cosmic identity with the Universe, by being part of the nervous system of the Universe, via the quantum entanglement. And there were no eyes to mislead into the impression that you are a physical body. Lynn Margulies and Dorian Sagan, in their monumental work ‘What is Life’, have written that 98% of the atoms in you now, leave you within one year and new atoms take their place. It is not cells, but the millions of atoms in each cell that leave. Same is happening in every bacterium in you. Actually you are feeling and developing emotions, because you are breathing and smelling. If you make your mind blank and close your eyes, then brilliant ideas will flash into you, as the hormones do not merely respond but create ideas from nature. We have to first accept or realize that air flow is thought and emotion flow. The planet earth thinks and perceives. Your telescopes cannot locate emotions and thoughts. In fact they cannot locate the present situation. If your telescope sees a Galaxy a billion light years away, you are just learning that that galaxy existed one billion years ago. Only after closing your eyes and after making your mind blank, you can live in the present and feel your partnership and partisanship with nature. You need freedom from Books and Technology.
