Q1         Where did mangoes originate from?

A1         Lucia Garcia Worked at Hospitals Thu

Mangoes are native to India and have a history of morethan 4,000 years.

Currently, Indiaremains the world's largest mango producer, accounting for
42.2% of the world'stotal production.

Mango is known as the "King of Tropical Fruits"due to its delicate flesh and
unique flavor.

Mango trees canlive for hundreds of years, and trees that are 200 to 300 years
old can stillbear fruit. A single mango tree can bear hundreds of fruits each
year.

Mango is one of the fruits with the highest vitamin Acontent, and its vitamin A
content is as high as 3.8%, which is twice as muchas apricot.

Vitamin A is essential for eye health and is key toenhancing and protecting
vision.

Vitamin A hasantioxidant properties that boost the immune system, speed up
metabolism, andslow the body's aging process.

Mango is also rich in natural vitamin C, 100 gramsof pulp contains 120 mg to
130 mg of vitamin C

Vitamin C is known as the "beauty vitamin"because it promotes the formation of
collagen, enhances skin elasticity andtoughness, and improves skin wrinkles.

Mangoes are verysweet and their sugar content is high. A medium-sized mango
weighs 150 gramsand contains more than 20 grams of sugar, so eat up to 2
mangoes a day.

use to make sure they don’t lose money?

A2         Bhuvana Rameshwar married for threedecades Thu

Some tricks in India to reduce food intake

Juice, soft drinksserved as soon as we sit down at our table. Some serve soups
at the table toowith toasted bread or garlic bread.

Fritters both non veg and veg served as starters. Thesefill us up due to the
fat content

Buffet starts withChinese noodles and Italian pasta if it is an inter
continental spread. Thesetwo are hunger spoilers as they fill our stomach.

Some keep buns, bread too. No Indian prefers buns, bread and bakery products for
lunch anddinner. Some keep crossoint too!

Only then come the biryanis, fried rice and curries.

Dessert is notserved until guests are done with main course.

So nobody can skip other food and head for dessertstraight away. Dessert
helpings are too small andmostly served individually by hotel staff.

Q3C             My AC is getting repair most of thetime, which is the best AC
service in Chennai?

A3C             Anonymous Answered Mar 10, 2021

Which is the bestA/C service, I would say a general service ?? where do you get
the bestprofessional to get a A/C serviced so that you don’t have to deal with
a A/Cbreakdown now and then!! is the question. You can book online
professionals toget your A/C serviced.

Finding a perfectprofessional who can do it might be a challenge , having
booked a A/C servicemyself I would recommend “HomeTriangle”they provide the
best service when it comes to A/C service and installation

My note- The QA is added for the information about Hometriangle and in no way
recommending them.

Q4         How did our ancient ancestors keepthemselves sane when the only
thing they could ever do was survive, hunt, gather, and reproduce?

A4         Matt Riggsby MA Archaeological Studies,Boston University Mar 11

Those are, for astart, pretty comprehensive areas of activity. How much time do
you spend working at your job, shoppingfor food, and cooking? That’s probably a
substantial portion of your day, which is equivalent to that whole hunting and
gathering thing. How much time doyou spend on doing things around the house
like laundry, tidying up, and homerepair? That’s more or less equivalent to
other daily “maintenance” tasksperformed by hunter gatherers. And how much time
do you spend looking afterkids? (Or, if you’re not a parent, how much time do
you see parents spendlooking after their kids?) We’re all busy with doing stuff
just to get throughthe day and the year, just different tasks. That said, hunter
gatherers could have a lot of leisuretime. In relatively comfortable times of
year, when edible plantsare growing nicely and game is plentiful, the average
hunter gatherer spendsmaybe a couple of hour on subsistence tasks, and they’ve
got the day to…well, just kind of hang out. Theymight sing, tell stories, play
games, pursue romantic entanglements, and so on.And really, that’s what most of
humanity has done with their free time throughhistory. Certainly, there were
also times of year when it was much harder tomake a living, and there was less
leisure time then, but it wasn’t just aconstant grind to survive.

Some detergents provide good fragrance afterwashing. I suggest such detergents

Q6         Why don't whales or other large animalsget cancer? Can we be
"inspired" by this phenomenon to treat cancerin humans and other creatures?

A6         Ken Saladin Former professor ofhistology (microscopic anatomy)1y

At first I doubtedyour premise, but I poked around a bit and found it’s
correct—large mammals such as whales andelephants do have a significantly lower
incidence of cancer than would bepredicted from their body size.

The chance of acancer developing increases with number of cell divisions and
length of life, both of which favor the occurrence of cancer-inducing mutations.
The large size of whales and elephants is because of a lot of celldivisions,
and they also live much longer than most mammals—so you’d expectthem to have
more cancer. Yet they don’t; they have significantly lowerrates than other
mammals. This is known as Peto’s paradox.

Geneticists havefound that some parts of the whale genome, especially genes
concerned with cellproliferation and DNA repair, have evolved faster than
others. Many forms of cancer in humansresult from mutations in protective
tumor-suppressor (TS) genes. Thehumpbacked whale genome has evolved multiple
copies of these genes—maybe acting like backup if oneor more of them mutate and
lose their protective function.

That may give theseanimals a level of protection we don’t have. The extra
protection afforded by these redundant genes isperhaps necessary for the
animals to grow to such sizes; they perform anecessary “housekeeping” role.
These animals’ unusually low level ofcancer may be a side benefit of this.

So yes, this hasexcited a line of research looking into anticancer mechanisms
in whales andother long-lived animals including sharks, bats, tortoises, and
crocodilians.

Thanks for thequestion. You turned mycurmudgeonly skepticism into interest on
this point and I’ve sparedyou the barbs of my sometimes half-baked cynicism

Q7         Are tomatoes good for weight loss?

A7         Lucia Garcia Worked at Hospitals12h

Tomatoes are one of the best weight loss foods.

Tomatoes are extremelylow in calories, with only 18 calories in 100 grams of
tomatoes, much lowerthan most vegetables and fruits.

Tomatoes are rich in citric acid. Citric acid canaccelerate fat burning,
inhibit fat accumulation, and promote caloriemetabolism.

Most importantly, tomatoes are the best source of lycopene, and 100 grams of
tomatoes containabout 3 mg to 4 mg of lycopene.

Different varietiesof tomatoes have different lycopene content. The redder the
tomato, the higher its lycopene content.

Studies have shownthat lycopene can stimulate the secretion of adiponectin in
the body. As aspecific adipokine, adiponectin plays a key role in increasing
the rate of fatburning.

Clinical studies have found that obese people have muchlower levels of
adiponectin than ordinary people.

The journalNutrition published a study in which 25 Taiwanese women drank 280ml
of tomatojuice every day for two months.

The results showed that after two months, the women's waistcircumference
decreased and their adiponectin levels increased significantly.

Q8         Can someone be born without pituitarygland?

A8         Ken Saladin Former professor ofhistology (microscopic anatomy)Oct 25

Yes—this is acondition called congenital panhypopituitarism—congenital meaning
present from birth, panmeaning “all” because all of the pituitary hormones are
lacking.

My grandson wasborn with this. He’s now 7 years old, very healthy, lively, and
smart, but hehas to take daily injections of growth hormone and others such as
thyroidhormone orally, with the regimen to be changed atpuberty (testosterone,
for example) and in adulthood. He has to have anemergency cortisol injection
kit close on hand at all times (and his teachershave to be educated on its use)
in case any stress brings on an “adrenalcrisis.” Without immediate treatment,
that can be life-threatening. He’ll haveto live with this his whole life.

Q9         Why is evolution referred to as ascientific theory and not a fact?

A9         Claire Jordan Degree in biology andfolklore; programmer, shop owner,
secretary on newspaperThu

Evolution is anobserved fact, and the Theory of Evolution is our current
bestunderstanding of what drives evolution and how it happens. In thesame way,
gravity is an observed fact, and then we have a theory about what’sgoing on to
cause it - except that we understand evolution *much* better thangravity.
