A1It is believed that Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswathi come to Cauvery during
themonth of Iyppasi every year to get rid of their sinsthat are collected from
the pilgrims who take a holy dip in them and rechargethemselves for the next
year. The wholemonth of Iyppasi is the festival period and is called Thula

dip.

Thelast day of Iyppasi called Kadaimugam and the next day, i.e., the first day
ofKarthigai called Mudavan Muzhukku are the most sacred days. The day
beforekadaimugam, car festival (Rath) is┬аcelebrated where cars from Vallalar
temple,Mayuranathar temple and Parimala Ranganathar temple go around in their

 Q8 What ischidambara rahasyam?

A8The only ancient temple where LordNataraja is the presiding deity is located
in Chidambaram and the uniquefeature of that temple is the famous "Chidambara
rahasyam" (Cosmicsecret) that is written in the Bilwa leaves kept in the
sanctum sanctorum.Nobodyknows the details of the inscriptions.

Q9 Where isuttatha Chidambaram?

A9By the directive of Kanchi Mahaswami Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati
Swamigal, a replica of this temple was built in Satara in Maharashtra
called"Uttara Chidambaram".

Greatcare was taken to ensure that every bit of it looks similar to the
original andthen came the most important step.

Q10 How theChidamabara rahasyam was replicated at Satara –Uttara chidambaram?

A10  Nobody knows the details! Except of course, the all-knowing Almighty!
Mahaswami came to the rescue.

Hedictated the entire rahasyam to a Panditji who wrote it on the Bilwa leaves
andthe moment the job was done, Mahaswami said "May you forget the
Rahasyamright now!" and lo!The Pandit forgotthe whole thing. Clearly, it is God
who gives us remembrance and removes ittoo.

Periyaval istold as an incarnation of Lord Siva. Based on a posting by cnu pne
