Q1              Willit help in faster cooling if we run an exhaust fan in a hot
room beforestarting an air conditioner?

A1              Chetan Vaze , MechanicalEngineering Automotive Industry &
Heating, Ventilation, and AirConditioning (1997)Answered 19h ago

Yes. It would help in reducing the heat load tomuch extent. Same as when the
car is parked in sun, we usually open the carwindows for a few minutes while
starting the journey.

My note- A doubt- Whether we provide exhaust fanin bed rooms, halls?

Q2              Whattime do you go to bed and wake up?

A2              Ray Schilling Blogger, retiredphysician and cancer researcher.

The best time to fall asleep is between 10 and11PM, because this fits into the
diurnal hormone rhythm.Sleep for 7 to 8 hours every night. Sleeping less
shortens your telomeres andtranslates into a shorter life expectancy. Sleeping
longer also shortens yourtelomeres: Ray Schilling's answer to What is one thing

Q3              Whyaren't engineering graduates getting much paid?

A3              D D Rishi Former IRS | Advocate | LL. M.,Ph.D. (Law)| Apr 23

Not onlyengineering graduates but also law graduates, science graduates,
commercegraduates, history graduates, archeology graduates etc are all also not
gettingmuch paid. The reasonis that the market needs skills to help it generate
more money. Itis not bothered about your educational degrees. If you are a
class 10 pass witha diploma in engineering but know how to handle machines, an
employer will bewilling to pay you more than what he would bother to pay to
even apost-graduate or a doctorate in engineering who can't make the factory
machinesrun.

The education given in our colleges or othereducational institutions does not
seem to have any practical utility in actualworking conditions. Therefore, one
needs to havepractical knowledge to get paid decently.

My note- Not exactly correct. Those studying inIIT’s get study tours and even
during studyselected by companies in campus selection.

Q4              Whydoesn't the Kaalahasti temple have Malayalam signboards? Why
must theSabarimala temple have Telugu signs hereafter if we remove it?

A4              Atheeth V Lives in South Indian(2021–present)Updated 1h

Hey.. Well I answerit in a nutshell tbh.

Kaalahasti templedoesn’t have Malayalam signboards because the number of
Visitors or Pilgrimagefrom Kerala to there is comparatively less. So there
wouldn’t be the need ofthat. And again mostMalayalis know some sort of Telegu,
Hindi, English or Tamil.

But on the other handSabarimala temple is visited by a large number of Telegu,
Tamil, Andhra people. So there definitely we need these respective language’s.
And most of them won’tbe able to read or speak Malayalam unfortunately.

Swamiye SaranamAyyappa

Edit; Sorry to useTelegu and it seems many are offended by that. And thank you
to bring Teluguinto notice.

Also I believe thatIndia is one of the most diverse country with 1000s of
languages (official andunofficial) many religions, castes, sub castes,
communities and whole lot ofthings! At the time of independence everyone
thought this country would justbreak apart. But we proved that wrong during
Indo-Sino war of 1962, Indo-Pakwar (1971,1999) and in every tough times all of
us Bharatiyans stood togetherand overcame this situation. So please let you be
a South Indian, or NorthIndian, from Kerala or Andhra Pradesh, speak Tamil or
Malayalam or anything, weall are from the mother land of Hindustan. Let’s not
let some languages andother cultural differences cause hatred on each other

Q5              If Ihave to use a public toilet, where would the cleanest one
most likely be, i.e.,in a fast food restaurant, gas station, supermarket, etc.?

A5              Chris Harper Biologist,Astrophysicist and all around seeker.
Apr 19

Best place to go isa hotel. I’m not kidding. Some of the cleanest bathrooms are
in hotelsespecially on the floors where they have functions. And the best part
is mosthotels don’t care if you actually have any business there or not. You
walk in, check out therestaurant, wander around a bit, head to the floor with
the functions and findthe washroom.Half the time they’re empty but clean.

Q6              How doyou deal with slowly losing friends as you grow older?

A6              D D Rishi Former IRS | Advocate |LL. M.,Ph.D. (Law) | Apr 23

You keep losingfriends and also gaining friends as you start growing older. You
tend to stickaround more with your school friends as compared to your college
friends andprofessional friends. Thenin the last stage of your life, you tend
to be closer to friends of your ownage and social setting. It is a normal
process oflife and we have to live with it.

Q7              Why dohorses never lie down or sit on the ground to sleep?

A7              Kathryn Berck Alpha to mustang,Arab, AkhalTeke, and their
wise-ass childTue

All horses lie down to sleep for as much as anhour at a time, but only as long
as there are other horses around keeping watch.A group of horses will take
turns: a few sleep while others watch, then theytrade off. The rest of the time
they doze while standing, but they need thedeeper sleep too. A lone horse might
not be able to sleep properly - anothergreat excuse for having a few more
horses than one actually needs.

Q8              Howmuch power does an air conditioner consume when the door
connecting the roomthat has AC, to another room (without AC), is kept open?

A8              Devendar Singh, HVAC SalesEngineer (2014-present)Answered May

First Take a Case that door is closed.

Power consumptionof 1.5 TR Split AC - 1500 Watts, You can check this power
consumption of yoursAC Model on BEE sticker pasted on Indoor unit.

Now consider yourAC running time is 8 Hrs Daily.

Total unitsconsumed - 1500 Watts or 1.5 kw multiply by 8 Hrs

= 1.5 Kw * 8 Hrs =12 kwh

This is the totalamount of units AC going to consume but compressor of the AC
is not going torun 8 hrs daily, its going to shut down after desired
temperature isapproached.

Consideringcompressor going to run 70% only then total units become

= 70% *12 kwh = 8.4Kwh

Total unitsconsumed = 8.4 KWH

Now you canmultiply this factor by price per unit in your area.

I am Living inPunjab, where Electricity costs Rs 8 / Unit

Than total amountgoing to be =Rs 8 * 8.4 kwh = Rs 67.2/- for running AC 8 Hrs
Daily.

SECOND CASE - When Door is open

In this casedesired temperature not going to achieve as all cooling going to
loss in secondroom, So compressor not going to cut off and will run on full
speed throughout. You can take 12 kwh units consumption in that case.

Q9              Doeskeeping the windows open increase an air conditioner’s
power consumption evenwhen it’s set to a fixed setting?

A9              Vivek Choubey (विवेक चौबे), B.Tech ElectricalEngineering,
Narula Institute of Technology (2018) Answered Mar 17, 2019

An air conditionercontroller is a simple feedback controller. You set a
temperature through yourremote now the controller within the air conditioner
compares the differencebetween your set temperature and the room temperature
(measured throughthermostat, a temperature sensor). The controller aim is to
reduce this difference to zeroso that the room temperature equals the set
temperature. So based onthis difference, it controls the speed of the fan and
compressor.

Now if you set your AC at a temperature and keepwindows open, the difference
never goes to zerobut remains almost constant because the window is open and
surrounding area ismuch larger than your room. Also surrounding temperature is
high and hence thecontroller will find the temperature to be constantly high.
As a result, itwill drive the compressor and fans at high speed to reach the
set point(assuming set point to be lower than the surrounding temperature). As
a result, these components will draw huge power and result in power loss.
Infact, it candamage the compressor as well.

Q10            What isa "knacker" in the UK? It was used as a noun.

A10            Claire JordanDegree in biology andfolklore; programmer, shop
owner, secretary on newspaper Apr 24

Originally, a knacker was a slaughtermanwho put down worn out horses and other
largeanimals not intended for human consumption, and then turned the carcases
intoglue and pet food. To be knackered, as an adjective, is to be so tired that
ifyou were a horse they might have to shoot you, or - when said of machinery -
tobe broken down and probably beyond repair.

“Knackers”, plural, and the variant “nadgers”, is slang for testicles.
