CULTURAL QA 05-2022-30 BEING A COMPILATIONTHERE MAY BE ERRORS
Q1 Whatis the best vegetable? A1 LuciaGarcia Worked at Hospitals Sat Broccoli is one of the vegetables with the highestnutrient density and is known as the "King of Vegetables". Broccoli containsalmost most of the nutrients needed by the human body, and its nutrients arenot only high in content, but also very comprehensive. Broccoli mainlyincludes protein, carbohydrates, fat, dietary fiber, carotene, vitamin A,vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, B vitamins and minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, iron, potassium, zinc, and manganese. 100 grams ofbroccoli contains 3.5 grams to 4.5 grams of protein, which is 3 times that ofcauliflower and 4 times that of tomato. 100 grams of broccolicontains nearly 90 mg of vitamin C, much higher than most vegetables. Most importantly,Broccoli is an Excellent Source of Sulforaphane. Scientific research has foundthat sulforaphane has a broad-spectrum anti-tumor effect and can effectively prevent a variety of cancers, such as breastcancer, stomach cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, rectal cancer, coloncancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, skin cancer, leukemia, glioma cancer, nasopharyngeal cancer, etc. The newsurvey found that those who ate broccoli at least once a week had about a 30percent lower risk of cancer comparedwith those who didn't eat broccoli. Broccoli is one ofthe foods with the most flavonoids, which are biologically active polyphenols. A growing body ofresearch has proven that flavonoids have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial andantiviral properties that reduce the risk of various diseases. Q2 Whyare spiders more likely to be on the walls or ceilings rather than the floor? A2 Ken SaladinEmeritus professor of biology Sat For starters, Idon’t think that’s true. Butyou might notice them less on the floor because: Those on the floorget stepped on and obliterated. Spiders are thigmotactic—meaning they prefer spaces wherethey bodies are in close contact with their surroundings, rather than open spaces like the middle of a room floor. In a house, they tendto be found in corners and along baseboards where one might not notice them. Q3 Whydoes the water in wells dry after a long period of time? A3 GopalaKrishnan, former Assistant General Manager 1996-2004at Department of Telecom (1966-2004)Answered just now The question is notcentpercent correct. In many temple wells for hundreds of years good water isavailable. Springs do not go dry. This is an informationtold by elders. We live for maximum a hundred years. I don’t understandwhat is meant by Longperiod. When springs dry upwater becomes dry. In recent decades most dry wells are closed and new openwells or maximum bore wells are dug. We don’t know what technologycomes next, how water is going to be drawn from underground. Recently I heard anews when most wells went dry in Kerala, in a certain place an old not used well was found having full water, itwas cleaned and motor installed and waterwas drawn and carried in lorries- of course Good water. It is a mystery how anot used well had good water from springs, and had nourished springs Q4 Even though Chennai is the medical and automobile hub ofIndia, why do cities like Kolkata, Bangalore and Hyderabad have higher GDP thanChennai? A4 VivekTuruwar Guy who witness cavery die slowly Updated Fri Answer is simple TN as a whole are moving towardsinvesting economy than gaining investment economy. Where as if youcompare rest of India with TN its totally different. All TN governmentshas given policies and investments to varied sectors unlike other states(Banglore - IT & Electronics major, Hyderabad - IT major, Cochin - Shipbuilding and (IT recently from 2010), Vizagh - Ship repair (IT afterseparation) Manglore - Ship building and service. As of India TNattracts most foreign and national tourist in India (Most of them think it'sKerala and Goa, but almost zero advertisement on international front, TN is theleader in tourism for Indians and world citizens even fellow Malayali brotherswill accept this). TN has the highestmedical tourist from world wide to India as well as Indians. ** TN medical infrastructure is so good and only Kerala isjust little bit above in medical infrastructure in entirecountry). My note- Thisis not correct. Many from Kerala come to CMC Vellore for better treatment Chennai - Worldsbest known and cheapest medical tourism in India (No state even Kerala won't beable to compete to medical facility and advancement of Chennai (mostly),Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy), Auto hub of India, IT sector (which Bangloreover took because of geographical conditions in last 10 years). Detroit ofIndia (BMW, Hyundai, Ford, CAT, Ashok Leyland, Bharath Benz, Royal Enfield,Renault, Nissan, dissfunctioned Standard auto pre 1980’s India's one only 3companies along HM and PAL from 60’ to 80’s manufactured LMVs and ICF Asia'slargest rail coach manufacturing unit till date, Kalpakkam India's first indigenous buildnuclear power plant, Two India's major and busiest ports Kamarajar port and L&Tport. There so much micro business that take Chennai to great heights.Mahabalipuram 45km from Chennai one of oldest ruins left in India 7th centuryBC) UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE. Also emblem of TN tourism board. Chennai haslarge number of famous cookware brands in India. (Preethi, Butterfly, Prestigeetc). Coimbatore - (Manchester of South India) besttextile industry in south India equal to Ahmadabad and Mumbai + blooming ITindustry right from late 90’s. Kovai as we fondly call it is a major turn aroundfor TN in textile industry post independence. This district got the most ofcotton production in south India because of predominant black soil. They haveauto axilery units like Pricol (Produces speedometer production unit mostly allauto manufacturers in India purchased speedo from them and “Rollon” highperformance auto parts. India's first F1 driver Narien Karthikeyan was fromCoimbatore second F1 driver Karun Chandok is from Chennai. They produce largequantity of electrical pumps and motors for various application like waterpumps, Grinders mixers etc. India's 80% or even more pumpsets are produced inCoimbatore. They have GI tag for grinders as well. Trichy - (Heavy electrical capital of India till 2010almost all thermal plants in India have boilers from BHEL Trichy), OFT Trichy& HAPP Trichy produces guns, bullets, missiles and weaponry for Indianarmed forces with that it's has countries most efficient banana, sugarcane, paddy (Sirag samba, Machanallur ponni most famous) producing district in India,Golden Rock service station is the oldest railway service station in India andtill date its the best diesel Loco station in India, Trichy has airport whichhas the highest international passenger growth in the country also the fifthlargest in south India for international traffic (Chennai, Hyderabad, Banglore,Chochin, Tiruchirappalli) (AAI is constructing new terminal and runway tohandle more international planes) also its one of oldest run ways of India usedby Brits in WW1. It also have great granite resource in Tuvarankurichi,Keeranur and Paalayam. Salem - They produce high quality steel which is exportedto Europe and US (probably best in India equal toJamshedpur) and puts Chinese steel to shame with its quality, most desirablemangoes in India. Salem Malgova mangos are as famous as Nagpur orange. 120 MWMettur power generation and Mettur dam largest dam across Kaveri river. Theyhave large range of agriculture based industry as well large scale limestoneand bauxite mining. Madurai - Heavy metal and forging industry started inMadurai for the first time in post independent era, vast agriculture which include (Jasmine GI tagged for India, Paddy, Sugarcane, termaric etc), Madurai district has most working class citizens in TN who shedtier sweat for work. Ghandhi got inspired from seeing farmers of Madurai andstarted to go shirtless. Granite is major income for Madurai and leads to heavycorruption among political groups in Madurai. Major tourism puller to Maduraiare Meenakshi Amman temple and Jallikattu. World famous Allanganllur Jallikattualong with Paalamedu and Avaniyapuram are all in Madurai district. Tirupur - This is the textile capital of India they havegone past the likes of Mumbai, Surat, Ahmedabadfew years ago (Tirupur manufactures almost 60% of India's ready made textileswhich includes shirts, pants, T Shirts, shorts, innerwear for men and women).Apart from this large scale poultry in TN after Namakkal is done in Udumalaidistrict of Tirupur. Erode - Turmeric capital of India no other district inIndia produces more turmeric than them. They also have vast textile industry. They have vast production of paddy and sufarcane and vast network of rice millsto process paddy from field they GI Tag for Turmeric. Also Kicadi samba,Kicahdi ponni, Famous Kangeyam calf bread is all from this district. Erode alsohave Electric Loco Shed most Southern railways electric locos are from thisshed. Tuticorin - Port city which is also known for its highsalt production just after Gujarat in the country andhighest curry leaves production in the country (Mostly exported). Koodankulamnuclear project satisfies 25% of Karnataka and 18% Keralas and 12% Andharselectricity needs apart from protest from district people the project wentahead which enshoures atleast 50% to TN promised by union to TN in 2012. Alsoit has Spic and dissfunctional Sterlite copper plant which was closed afterseveral years of protest and police firing and killing 13 innocent non -violent protestors including 16 year old school girl. Targeted and shot fromshort range as well as long range by snipers. Krinagiri/Hosur should have been capital of thisdistrict, but unfortunately due to some political turmoil least grown was madeKrishnagiri as capital. Nothing less to say about Hosur, it was earning morethan Banglore in 90’s and before IT revolution. Hosur has a great manufacturing sector for TN forthe past 60 to 70 years. TVS group, TITAN, Ather, OLA electric all have theirplant at Hosur. Most importantly Ather and OLA electric have their headquarters at Banglore which takes all income from both these successfulcompanies to Banglore. Apart from this they have south India's best graniteresource. Most of granite used in Banglore are from Krishnagiri district. Cuddalore - Neyveli they produce 35% of electricity toKarnataka. When ther was agitation by some fringe groupsin KA to not give Kaveri water to TN. There was a mass protest organised byworker unions of Neyveli, CPI and CPM TN, DK and it's associated groups also bySouth Indian actors association in Chennai to deny electricity to Karnataka.Thank got that didn't happen because at that time almost 50% of Karnataka'selectricity was supplied by NLC. Karnataka would have submerged into darknessconsidering recent power cuts because of coal shortage. Nilgiri - Attracts most tourist to South India. Mosttourist who visit south India because of Nilgiris orKerala's back waters. Others are mere formality they used to say in 90’s. Apartfrom tourism Tea almost equivalent to Dargiling Tea in popularity and they haveworld wide recognition just after Dargiling and almost equal to Assam andCeylon in world wide market. Potatoes , carrots , elachi are few other spicesare great contributors to Nilgiris. Please don't miss the Mettupalayam to Ootymountain train (Via Conoor , Love dale) UNESCO WORLD HERISTAGE SITE.. Nagercoil - Kanyakumari : Most of Indians dream is tovisit tip of south India. Kanyakumari is top most destinationin every north Indians wish list. North Indians target destination as it isnear to Trivandrum, Kochi, Kumarakom and travelling distance to religiousRameswaram for Hindus. Apart from this this district produces largest wind energy in Asia. This district is along with Ramanathapuram solar plant and (Udumalai to Palladam(Palakam gap) is sole responsibility of producing 18% of TN's energy need fromrenewable resources. A new port is planned in this district by Union gov totackle the Hampantotta port (Run by Chinese in Sri Lanka). Thanjavur - Do you know Brihadeshwara temple. Its one ofworlds monuments (UNESCO Heritage sites) and with many moreChola museum and late Maratha palace this district is older thanChennai,Mumbai,Delhi, Patna and even Varanasi .This with Tiruchirappalli andnewly formed Tiruvarur district is called as rice bowl of TN (probably India aswell). This district alone is capable of competing with likes of united Andhraor Karnataka on a good monsoon year. They have some of worlds most efficientfarmers. They are settled in this region of TN called delta district as riverKaveri diverges into 2 two from Mokomb(Approx 50km from Tanjore in Trichydistrict as Kaveri and Kollidam and further 35km it diverges into 4 more majorparts forming triangle like (Delta) highly rich cultivatable land. This districthas an history of more than 3000 years of cultivatable land. TN gov begs tosibling Karnataka for water on dry monsoon for this district alone. Mettur dam(Salem), Bhavani sagar dam(Erode), Grand Anikut or Kalannai (Oldest surivingdam belongs to this district). This is historical district of India. Ramanathapuram - Rameswaram - This is a expirence of lifeof every Indian. As a south Indian I have always wantedto visit Wagha border, where I am just 100m away from Pakistani siblings. Samewill for a north Indian when he realizes he is just few Kms away from Ceylon inDanushkodi. Also the so called Ram bridge theory and one of holy places forHindus this a great tourist attraction for entire India on any regular day youcan numerous cars from KL,KA,AP,PY,TS,GA,MH and all with that you will see somany bikers all around the country. They have one of the best fishiniers inIndia, but often they are interfered by Sri Lankan navy which is great problemin this region. They have small boundary to fish about 12 to 16 km from landwhere the international maritime borders are they are often taken away by hightide and wind into Sri Lanka waters and also most often Sri Lankan forces strominto Indian waters to arrest them and capture their livelihood. Its much betterbecause before 2008 bloody Sri Lankan navy killed as many as 700 Indianfiaherman nether Congress(DMK ally) nor BJP(DMK & AIADMK) voiced for them. Naamakal - Very business minded town yes you heard meright. It's just a small town compared to likes ofBanglore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune or Coimbatore. But the businessthey are associated with them is mind blowing for a small town. I will assureno small town with population of Namakkal in India will get near them inbusiness. South India's best large scale poultry (Chicken and egg) they supplyegg for entire TN almost most of Banglore, Kerala all from Naamakal andUdumalai .Numerous bodyconstructions for trucks in South India (1 of 5 lorry's in TN are registered inTN 28). They rule truck transport in TN. Karur - Just likeNaamakal this is a business hub. If Namakkal is known for truck body buildingthen Karur is TN'sfavourite for bus body building. Apart from this they are known fortextile deying industry. Didugal - Industrialised town, major agro industrieswhich are in famous in South India (Brands like Anil, Naga etc) are from thisdistrict. Rich in minerals and processing industries. Major hill stationof South India next to Ooty is from this district. Granite is also a majorincome for the city. I have onlymentioned handful almost all districts in TN are self sufficient that's a majorfactor for development of Chennai to stagnate. KA GDP is 240billion US $ TN GDP is 300billion US $ Major difference ismore 75% of KA GDP is from from Banglore and almost 50% of its GDP is from ITsector. Where as TN GDP is well diverse within its districts and almost coversall sectors. That's why TN have the status of most urbanised state in India.Technically there is no rural TN within 15 to 30 km of any district capitalapart from Nilgirs district. TN GDP is spreadall over the state we thank the Dravidian ideology of DMK and AIADMK forachieving educational and capital freedom of TN state. We also Kamarajar aswell for his beyond the presence thoughts in post independent era. Q5 What will happen if I don't eat sugar for 3 weeks? A5 Li PengiiFormer Import company owner (2000–2017)May 23 A couple things: Your brain gets ahard reset. When you consume something you build up tolerance to it so you seekout more of it. Like scentedcandles they ‘stop smelling nice’ after a day or two, or cat piss. Cat pissstinks, but that’s not because the scent goes away but your brain filters itout as it gets used to it. So anything sweet you eat will taste incredibly sweetafterwards as you’ve reset your brain and you cantaste the fistfuls of sugar in it. I quit sugar for a year. I still have theodd bit of chocolate now and again. I lost tons of weight. I then tried to drink a can ofcola 140 calories fist full of sugar. It was overwhelming and ittasted horribly sicky sweet. I tossed it away after a mouthful and spat it out. Second: You get thinner, sugar has enormous amounts of caloriesin it. It’s also not veryfilling. Years ago I was fat. I hit the gym like crazy. I was undercountingcalories due to underestimating the amount of sugar I ate. I ate these instantoatmeal packages. 20g they were 50% sugar but taste so good. I now eatsugarless oatmeal 40g and it’s got less calories than the little instantpackages. My note- Diabetic patients should eat atleast oncea week coffee with sugar and fruits with sweetness. It is the advice of mydiabetologist. All the above QA are from Quora website on 29-05- 2022. Quora answers need not be 100% correct answers . Compiled and posted by R.
