BEING  ACOMPILATION THERE MAY  BE ERRORS

Q1            Is it safe to put clothes covered insawdust in the washing
machine?

A1            S. Williams, Former Peer Support atGeorgia Pines Behavioral
(2010–2012)16m

First, you should try rinsing them outside with awaterhose to remove most of
the saw dust. The sawdust probably couldcause clogs or damage to your washer.
After using hose outside to rinse most ifpossible all sawdust, proceed with
laundering clothes. Wash clothes withdetergent and use fabric softner in rinse
water as usual. Hope my responsehelps.

My note- The question must be from a wood sawer. In Kerala they wear only a
single dhothi in villages, but in saw mills theyhave upper wear like T shirt.

Q2            Why is washing fruits and vegetableswith water considered
sufficient? If there is bacteria, will rinsing with wateronly actually help?

A2            Joseph Reinemann, Computer Scientist+ Author of Rarely Read Books
Updated Thu

No, it will definitely not help the bacteria.

You need tounderstand the relative scale between us and bacteria. To us,
running somethingunder water for a few seconds seems very gentle. To a microbe,
it's the motherof all tidal waves. Mostbacteria aren't equipped with anything
that would let them actually hold on tothe surface of a carrot or piece of
lettuce, so when the wave hits they justget swept along with it. That's also
why you can often drink fromclear streams or rivers, but trying to drink from
standing water will almostalways make you sick.

The reason we need soap to clean our own hands is becauseour skin is covered in
a thin layer of oils that will provide a barrier betweenthe water and whatever
bacteria may be thriving in it.The soap creates an interface allowing those
oils to bind with the water as itpasses, stripping off the barrier. Fruits and
vegetables generally don't havethe same kind of barriers to contend with, so
water alone is sufficient.

Q3            How are Indian Railways quartersgiven to Indian Railway employees?

A3            Shishir Chandra,Former Dy. Station Superintendentat Indian
Railways (2017–2019)Updated 10h

I don't know aboutothers, but the railway quarter allotted to me was a
nightmare for me…

I worked as amiddle level employee of railways and expected a good lifestyle as
being thehead of the station. I worked as deputy station superintendent on a
bigjunction station and was allotted a railway quarter the next day of my
joining.

Basically operatingstaff is forced to live nearby the station as they are
deemed to do therostered job with 24*7 culture. Hence, even if you deny the
quarter, you wouldbe allotted the quarter forcefully.

Here I am givingyou a glimpse of my bungalow provided by the railways and the
world classamenities in the quarter.

Edit:— zoom thefirst picture and see the demolished roof of the kitchen… it's
the OPENKITCHEN… offered by the railways.

My note- Probably the case could bedecades back. Now for essential staff
newquarters are built, others live in flats/homes purchased in southern states.
Wecan see newly appearing track regulating buildings are abanded   due
totechnical changes. I have seen the quarters of my relative and two
friendsliving in railway quarters in somewhat better conditions decades back. I
agree the condition ofquarters were such that they could better facilitated and
modern facilities introduced

Q4            Why are there no trees in Antarcticawhile other very cold places
have trees?

A4            Hand Maiden to Horses,Human Being,Attempting to be Rational Jun 21

“Why are there no trees in Antarctica whileother very cold place have trees?”

Trees require soil (and water and light) to live andgrow. A very large
percentage of Antarctica is very deep ice over sea water,or very deep ice over
rock or permanently frozen rocky soil.

There are no trees on Svalbard. There are no trees abovethe tree lines on
mountains ranges

The conditions inAntarctica, like above the tree lines of high altitudes, are
not sufficient to supportthe growth of trees, regardless of temperature
comparisons with other coldareas. There is more to this question than simple
thermometerreadings.

Q5            What happens if I eat too manyprunes?

A5            Lucia Garcia, Worked at Hospitals Jun25

Prunes are a type of dried fruit made from fresh plumsthat have been
dehydrated, but prunes only come fromcertain plum varieties.

Compared withplums, prunes are more concentrated in sweetness, and taste
sticky, chewy, andjuicy have a pleasinglytart aftertaste.

Prunes arenutritious, which is a high-calorie, high-sugar dried fruit.

A prunes weighsabout 9.5 grams, contains about 25 calories and 3.9 grams of
sugar,

Eating too many prunes may lead to increased blood sugarand weight gain, so it
is recommended to eat no more than 10 prunes a day.

It is worthmentioning that prunes are an excellent source of polyphenols.
Polyphenols areactive plant compounds with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory
properties.

Inflammation andoxidative stress are among the main causes of bone loss and
osteoporosis.

Clinical studies have proven that prunes are the bestdried fruit for
maintaining bone density. Eating someprunes regularly can protect bones,
promote bone health, and prevent the riskof osteoporosis.

Q6            If heat in tropical regions to makepeople lazy, how were tribal
peoples living in these regions able to do thingslike take care of livestock
and crops, build houses, make tools, fight othertribes, etc.?

A6            Ernest W. Adams, Child of ananthropologist; grew up around the
field. Fri

It doesn't make people lazy. That's a misconception thatEuropeans got when they
visited Africa because they saw people not working inthe afternoon. But what
they didn't realize wasthat the Africans were going to work at dawn andresting
in the hottest part of the day. You have to adapt your lifeto the climate.

Q7            Why is paneer so expensive?

A7            Anbazhagan Ambrose, M.Phil. inLiterature & Linguistics,
Jawaharlal Nehru University (Graduated 2000)Wed

Because it is a reliable profit center for the dairycompanies :) Milk does not
have much of a margin.

Take TN forexample. The procurement price of buffalo milk is Rs. 42 a liter.
Rs. 6 will bespent on chilling, pasteurization, packaging and transportation
costs. So itbecomes Rs. 48. Now add Rs. 3 as distributor and shop owner
margings. So Rs. 51per liter. Then the companies have to account for spoilage.
Finally they willbe left with Rs. 5–6 as profit per liter. Like I said milk is
not thatprofitable.

Buffalo milk hasminimum 6% fat and better solids not fat. Hence buffalo milk
will yield anywhere between 200 - 220grams of paneer per liter of milk. So
buffalo milk procured at Rs.42 will yield 200 grams of paneer at the minimum.
Other costs are the sameexcept for higher distributor margins. So dairy company
will spend max. Rs. 55per 200 grams of paneer.

Paneer sells for Rs. 90–100 per 200 grams in TN. As youcan see, it offers these
advantages:

Much better profitmargins.

Extended shelf lifeand hence spoilage will be very less compared to raw milk.

In TN,people think paneer is some exotic product, so no issues paying Rs. 90
per 200grams while Haryanavis will laugh if someone sells paneer for this
amount :) Great quality fresh paneer rarely costs morethan Rs. 300 per kg in
Haryana. But then they have their black gold calledMurrah ;)

In TN, you will seeHatsun paneer everywhere but in the same fridge you will not
see Arokya milk. Reason - Hatsun can leverage itsbrand and push paneer than
selling milk with low profit margins.

For the record,Aavin full fat milk costs Rs. 48, Rs. 2 worth of lemon juice and
30 minutestime will yield 200 grams of fresh paneer :) OK, not 30 minutes, more
like 3hours including pressing time.

Q8            What precautions should be observedwhen handling a capacitor?

A8

Never ever touch a live capacitor terminals or wires.

Never exceed ratedvoltage across its terminals. Beyond a small temporary
overvoltage, it cannotbear it and gets damaged.

Nevershort the terminals. This can create heavy spark , damage its terminals,
sometimes burn theterminations and wires, and even cause welding at terminals

Whendischarging, short the capacitor terminals through a resistance first, then
short them directly by a wire. Only after this you can handle thecapacitor
safely

If case is of metal container, it should preferably beearthed.

Power capacitors atsupply voltage usually always have discharge resistors
permanently connectedbetween terminals. Allow at least one minute to allow
terminal voltage to fallto safe level. Then short the terminals of all three
phases together. Afterthis you can handle it or remove from system.

Never connect an electrolytic capacitor in wrongpolarity. This can damage is
irreversibly, and can even cause explosion.

good engineer. Initially I missed to copy the name ofthe person answered.

Q9            Why are trains more expensive thanplanes in Europe?

A9            Dick Polley, Lives in Rochdale, UK(2015–present)5h

You are on thetrain for longer so you are paying to rent your seat for perhaps
five times aslong. Railway track is expensive, just to install overhead
electric lines onstandard track costs about £1m per single track kilometre in
UK and Europe. Forthe price of your ticket you may have made use of billions of
pounds worth ofinfrastructure.

My note-Railway fare more than airfare in certain countrieslike Europe  is a
new information to me.

Q10         Why does my stomach hurt every morning?

A10          Lucia Garcia, Worked at Hospitals Thu

The most commoncause of stomach pain on an empty stomach in the morning is a
duodenal ulcer, while stomachpain after a meal is a symptom of a stomach ulcer.

The duodenum is thefirst part of the small intestine, which is about 25 to 30
cm long. The smallintestine is about 500 to 600 cm long.

About 95% ofduodenal ulcers occur in the duodenal bulb. The duodenal bulb is
about 5 cmlong and is the portion of the duodenum closest to the stomach.

People with duodenal ulcer usually have symptoms ofabdominal pain in the
morning on an empty stomach, and the symptoms can be relieved after eating
something.

More than 80% of duodenal ulcers are infected with Helicobacterpylori bacteria,
a bacteria that causesinflammation of the lining of the duodenum, which can
lead to ulcers.

Inaddition, some anti-inflammatory drugs, such as aspirin and ibuprofen, as
wellas smoking and heavy alcohol consumption can also cause duodenal ulcers.

Duodenal ulcer is acommon disease that can usually be cured with 1 to 2 months
of acid-suppressingmedication.
