1. News paper

Whether weread fully, or glance or read front page alone, still most of us wait
fornewspaper delivery man in the early morning. We are happier in the morning
ifmilk has put milk in bag/box, newspaper kept on gate grill, making it
holdthere when we go to open the gate itself. Nowadays both do their jobs
silently. If I am nearthe gate or doing some work, paper is given in my hand
itself. Whatever TV newsis watched even in late night, I cannot stop glancing
headlines in the firstpage of English paper.

My wife gothrough the Tamil newspaper almost fully and the books coming along
with it100%. The cartoons and one or two sentences jokes in Tamil paper was
anattraction to me also at one time.

Dispose valueof newspaper is also good, about 20-00 rupees now per Kg. Most
does notconsider the monthly subscription amount as high at any cost.

Nowespecially English newspaper on some days or some pages on any comes
withglazed pages. Most preserve them for home use, before disposing the paper.
Thepaper used for printing is called News print. We do not use it for writing.

2. Bond Paper

Bond paper isused in executing bonds, writing WILL etc. In telecom department
lease deeds ofbuildings taken on rent were executed in bond paper. The paper is
distinguishedby thickness, very light green color and watermark.

3. Stamp paper.

Stamp paperis crème color and thick and having water mark. Stamp papers are
issued by vendorsand they make a note of it in their register with the name,
amount of paper, and ask the person to sign on purchasing on it. In stamp paper
also the vendorenters the name of the person to whom they issue it with their
signature.  Stamp paper is used not only for property registrationpurposes, but
also for issuing marriage certificate, birth certificate etc.also. Advocate use
stamp paper for preparing WILL.

Stamp paperis issued by state government for different values, starting from Rs
10-00 toeven up to 25000 rupees.  I have confirmed this by Googlesearch.

4. Wrapping paper

Normally thewrapping paper to cover text books is slightly brownish. Earlier it
was notwaxed on one side, now it is available only waxed in one side. Not only
textbooks, most costly books, practical record books, account books etc. are
also wrapped.

Usingwrapping paper at one time covers were common, now such covers are rarely
available.

5. Blotting paper.

Still thereare many using ink pen to write. At one time government cheques were
only wrotewith ink pen. I am not sure of the present condition. Blotting paper
is used toabsorb excess ink from paper, cheque leaf etc. Actually blotting
paper piecewas fitted to a holder and it was slowly pressed to absorb excess
ink withoutspreading.  If it was not readilyavailable white chalk is used
instead.

5. Binding paper

Binding paperis thin and comes in attractive colors and prints. Such paper is
pasted overthe hardboard sheet. One can see such paper used with printing in
the outercover of diaries. This is also used over hardboard cover of registers.

6. Glaze paper.

Forpacking   compliments such paper isused.  Some types are waxed and most are
notwaxed.

7. Glittering paper

Rose colorglittering paper is mostly used by jewelers to pack silver items.
Rarely greenis also used.

8. Decoration papers

Decorationpapers are very thin and available in different colors.  They are cut
to sizes for decoration. Thesepapers have short size.

Writing paperthin is used to prepare note books, and available as full size or
half size, ruled or un-ruled. Only major stationery shops have them nowadays.
Thick onesare used for diaries, record books etc.

10. Xerox paper.

After the appearanceof Xerox, thick writing paper is used to take Xerox. Two
sizes are available-Full size and half size.  Normallyavailable ones which can
be used in home/office printers is half size or A4size. Nowadays if we ask for
writing paper most stationery shops give A4 thick Xeroxpaper.

11. File cover papers

For preparingfile covers thick papers are available in different colors. One
paper can beused for 2 file covers. Details of contents are written on it.
These files aretagged in the corner. On the left side few note sheets and on
the right sidepapers received are filed with index number. Index number is
entered in note sheet with details of the paper receivedfor orders. Government
offices cannot afford files with punching and insertingtype ones. Mainly Note
sheet provision is not there. However confidential filesare prepared using
readymade files. For personal use readymade file covers areused by most of us.
However private firms and companies have readymade filecovers and they punch
and insert papers and held by holders.

Present dayfile cover paper is also glazed. However most prefer non glazed ones
on whichinformation can be written.

12. Paper for covers

Normallythick quality paper is used for making covers. For more strength,
loosely weavedcotton is pasted inside the thick cover is used.  Such covers are
used to send costly items.

should not getdestroyed in one’s life time. So thick special paper is used for
