BEING  A COMPILATIONTHERE MAY  BE ERRORS

Q1           What is the life of a loco pilot inIndian railways like? Do they
earn more than an IAS officer?

A1           Harish Solanki, Informartics assistant 2018 batchSat

My best friend is aloco pilot so my review very genuine.

No comparisonbetween IAS and loco pilot “kaha raja bhoj kaha gangu teli" yar
IAS grade pay and its perks equal to 3 loco pilot salary.

My friend gotaround 60–70k including all running allowance. But an IAS officer
starting salary 50–60k and perksexcluded. If we include all perks like gadi,
banglow, nokarchakar and mali its around 2–3 lack minimum. So you can assume
what isis reality of loco pilot job.

Loco pilot life very hectic and more responsible eventhey don't have toilets in
train engine and imagine in summer time which levelof temperature in train
engine but IAS sahab AC se bahar hinahi niklte hai garmi me.

My note- The senior  loco pilots gets good pay and over time andstay in
comfortable quarters. The class 1 officersin railway are paid equal or more
than IAS officers with almost similarfacilities. But it is a fact they have no
power like an IASofficer functioning as a District collector.

Q2           What proven strategies do companiesuse to get you to spend more
money?

A2           Rini George, Qualities in humanbeings Sat

Not a company but all pavbhaji joints do this. They serve us a plate like this
on ordering bhaji pav.

Now you all knowthat two pav won't beenough to finish that big serving of
bhaji. You end up buying morepav. And from where I have pav, extra pav is
charged Rs. 50/-

Another example is:

Amazon's eligible for free delivery for purchase over 499: The problem with
this is wheneverI search for things that i need to add to cart to get to 499 /-
those items arenot eligible for free deliver they already have Rs50-60/- as
delivery charge. So you end up buying other items which are eligible for free
delivery over499/- which sometimes you don't even need that much.

D-mart offers.. they are so damn good nobodybothers to check the list they
actually came to buy and end upoverspending.

Q3           Why are Idlis and Dosas considered asbreakfast mostly in South
Indian families when they are traditionally eaten anytime of day?

A3           Gautham Sampath, Former SoftwareTester Tue

To confirm myanswer, I just again reenquired now with my 87 year old Grandma
about the points I am going to tellhere.

Idlies and Dosasbecame breakfast and dinner in Southern Indian families only
after Independence becauseof the changing work conditions. They were not eaten
traditionally daily noreaten any time of the day!

My grandma tells that they used to eat Idlies and Dosasonly on festivals or on
special occasions and it was not a daily food.

They used to make Idliesand Dosas on the morning of festivals as light
breakfast as the festival meansits celebrated in afternoons and evenings and
thus Idlies andDosas were special and special foods need special attention and
day.

Also during marriages, they used to serve in the early morning marriages that
happens in Tamil Nadu.

They mostly ate Ragi, Rice and other millets everyday (even wheat was rarely
eaten and still wheat is not eaten in many homes).

Nowadays we haveMixies and Grinders and preparing batter is easy but those
times they used tohand grind in stone grinders and it’s not a eat task.

One has to sitat least 1 hour to grind some 2 kg soaked rice and as majority
wereagriculturists its not some easy task to do daily, so theydid the batter
preparation only before the festival or function time.

But as timechanged, when Hotelsand restaurants sprung up, they heavily
advertised Idlies and DosasThe taste is special na but if I just deliver the
same millets that is eaten ishome, it will become boring .

So they started tosell Idlies and Dosas with varieties of Chutneys. Also Dosas
and Idlies aresoft and you know it can be eaten very easily with minutes but
millet foodstake time to eat.

We still in homes don’t do so much variety of Chutneys ina single day right?

But with thechange in lifestyle and heavy intake of rice, Diabetes have become
a hugeproblem in Southern India.

Probably we shouldgo back to our age old millet foods!

My note- Is there heavy intake? Normally growingchildren and youngsters eat a
little more and aged eat less or very less.

When one elderlyclose relative ten years elder to me told  about 10 years back
that he eat about ahandful of rice and fruits, it was strange to me. But now I
eat the samequantity only. Eating more  rice is not the reason for
increasingdiabetics

Q4           How often do you clean your house, and who is typically responsible
for cleaning what areas?

A4           Gopala Krishnan, Former AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966–2004)Just now

I am answering fromChennai, India. Myself and wife are aged above 70 and a lady
servant clean thekitchen vessels, inside cleaning and moping and front of home
in the morning. In the night I take meals lateand I make sure kitchen is
cleaned, vessels in sink are given a primary cleaning and diningtable is kept
cleaned.

Small outsidecleaning and watering plants in the compound is done by me. Wife
takes care ofall cooking jobs, and prayer room upkeeping.

Once a fortnight skilled workers are deployed for neatcleaning outside, and
disposing items like dried leaves, putting in fire and making to ashes and put
it as manure to plants.  A special circular enclosure  ready made using RCC is
used and available inChennai. It is called Ura inTamil.

Once a quarterwater tank and sump are cleaned. Cobweb removal, window cleaning
etc are doneby me, as part of my exercise.

Who is responsible is a confusing question.Whoever has more aptitude and
knowledge carry out/ supervise respective jobs.  Generally lady servant jobs
are supervised by my wife and others by me

Q5           What is the difference between an ACchair car and a non-AC chair
car on an Indian Railways train like the Shatabdior Rajdhani Express/Mail train?

A5           Sanjiv Mitragotri, Railways user andoperations 2h

Rajdhani or Shatabdi express trains are Fullyair-conditioned trains. So the
question of non ACcoaches is irrelevant.

Moreover Rajdhaniexpress trains no longer have Chair car coaches and they are
fully sleepercoach trains. Earlier Rajdhani express used to have AC chair car
coaches, however they have been discontinued long back (around 1995).

All the AC chair car coaches in Rajdhani express trainswere replaced with AC
3Tier coaches.

My note- All satabdi are having AC chair car.Inexecutive class they are more
comfortable and charged more.

Non AC chaircars are there in express trains running in daytime. They are
cramped. When general class is crowded  many passengers enter  and sit at
windows and toilet areas. TTR checking is in effective in myexperience in
Chennai- Bangalore section.

Q6           What is the most popular medicine totreat a type 2 diabetic person
nowadays?

A6           Dr.Vignesh Basaviah (Kodiak Bear), Physicianat Margosa Road
(2020–present)Sun

Fasting Sugar levels of 180 or below can be managedwithout medication if the
patient is less than 55 years of age.

High Fiber LowSugar Diets, More Meals a day in smaller portions, Stopping all
alcohol, caffeine, cigarettes, Fruit juices instead of milk, Egg Whites, Fish,
Chappatisinstead of Rice, Kerala Rice instead of White Rice, No Pasta or White
Bread

If FBS is above 180 mg/dl then

First Line :-Metaformin + Glimperide if FBS > 180 but <= 250 mg/dl

This is a combination of targeting your liver to manageglycogen conversion and
reducing insulin resistance and increasing insulinproduction

Typically Metaformin comes in1000 mg, 2000 mg or 500 mg per tablet dose and
Glimperide comes in 1 mg and 2mg per tablet dose. Its usually enough

Second Line :- AGIs or Alpha Glucosinase Inhibitorsif FBS is more than 250 but
less than 340 mg/dl

They promote rapidconversion of carbohydrates

Typically ends in‘ose’ like Edibose orVoglibose

Third Line:- Pioglitazone

I hate thesemedicines personally. Loads of side effects

Fourth Line:- Insulin Therapy for consistent FBS > 350mg/dl

My note- Ihave specifically included this answer for present view and treatment
by doctors. Periodicconsultation with doctor is required if one is prescribed
metamorphin. If the blood sugar level is reduced, metamorphin mg has to be
reduced.Other wise it may affect kidneys. Please look at the FBSlevels told.

Q8           What is the most badass moment ofIndian bureaucrats to Indian
politicians?

A8           Swatanshu Shekhar Singh, StudiedPolitics of India & Political
History of India Updated 2y

The man who pulled a biscuit from Rajiv Gandhi's mouth, saying that the Prime
Minister should not eat anything that has not been testedbefore.

He was IAS topperof 1955 batch, was the Chief Election Commissioner of India
from the year 1990to 1996. Though he was labelled as a Congressman, but later
the Congress itselfused to be troubled by his decisions.

TN Seshan oftenjoked that I eat politicians in breakfast. In India, hardly any
bureaucrathas earned more names than TN Seshan in the last three decades. In
the nineties, there was a joke in India that Indian politicians areafraid of
only two things - one is God, the other is TN Seshan.

He was also thehighest rank cabinet secretary of the Indian bureaucracy with a
clean image. After dissolving the BJP governments in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan
and Himachal Pradeshat one time, the then Minister Arjun Singh said that
elections in these stateswill be held after a year.Seshan immediately issued a
press release reminding that the ElectionCommission fixes the date of the
election, not the minister.

There is also avery interesting story of TN Seshan becoming the Chief Election
Commissioner ofthe country.

At around 1 o'clockon a cold December 1990 night, Union Commerce Minister
Subramanian Swamy's white ambassador carstopped at a government house on
Pandara Road, New Delhi. This housebelonged to the then Planning Commission
member TN Seshan. He had arrived thereas the messenger of Prime Minister
Chandra Shekhar and on arrival he gave hismessage, "Wouldyou like to be the
next Chief Election Commissioner of India?"

After Swami left,Sheshan got a call from Rajiv Gandhi and said he wanted to
meet himimmediately. When he arrived , Rajiv Gandhi was waiting for him with a
littleeagerness in his drawing room. "

After a while,Rajiv Gandhi gave his consent to Seshan to accept the post of
Chief ElectionCommissioner. But he was not very happy with it. When hecame to
leave Seshan to the door, he teased him that This bearded man will curse the
day he decided tomake you the Chief Election Commissioner. "By bearded man,
Rajiv Gandhimeant Prime Minister Chandrasekhar.

Once on August 15,Rajiv Gandhi was about to run from Vijay Chowk to India Gate
with a lot ofpeople. He was wearing a track suit. TN Seshan at a short
distance, all in aclosed-neck suit and trousers. Rajiv joked by looking at
them, 'How in suit but are you standingthere? Come, run with us too. Your
fatness will be reduced slightly.'

Seshan repliedwith a sarcasm, "Some people have to stand upright so that the
PrimeMinister of the country can run".

After a while, thathappened, which Rajiv Gandhi was not expecting at all. He
must have run for afew minutes now, that thesecurity guards surrounded him and
brought him to a place where a car wasparked and whose engine was already on. "

In a minute, theytook him to his house. Seshanwas instructed that there should
be no messing with the security of the PrimeMinister. "

Once SheikhAbdullah was placed under house arrest in Tamil Nadu in the sixties
when Seshanwas the collector of Madurai.

It is a matter ofthose days when Nehru put Sheikh under house arrest in a hotel
'LaughingWaters' on the banks of the famous Kodai lake in Tamil Nadu in the
sixties.

Seshan was thecollector of Madurai district at that time. He was given the
responsibility toread every letter sent out by Sheikh. Sheikh Abdullah did not
like this thing.

The next day whenSeshan went to meet Sheikh, the letter was ready. The address
on the envelope was written,"Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, President of India. " It had
no effect on Seshan.Sheikh looked at Seshan in a winning posture and said, "Do
you still wantto open it?"

"Seshanreplied," I will open it in front of you. The address has no meaning
forme. " One day,Sheikh announced that he would go on a fast unto death in
protest of the badbehavior being done to him.

"Seshan said,'Sir, it is my duty to take care of your every need. I will ensure
that no one comes even before youwith a glass of water.'"

TN Seshan wasappointed to the post of Chief Election Commissioner by
Chandrasekhar'sgovernment.

The first exampleof his independent tendency was found when he postponed the
Lok Sabha electionsafter the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi without asking the
then government.

Why should TN Seshan be remembered, NOW?

Not because he wasECI but also because when both BJP and Congress influenced
and forced him tofight Presidential Election in 1997 on their Symbol. In spite
all these he said“I had been on a constitutional post, will not join anyparty”
and fought 1997 Elections independently.

My note- Readagain  the great words of the election commissioner-“I had been on
aconstitutional post, look at the past tense used. Any post after retirementis
no more. He is ordinary citizen of India, other than the perks he gets

Q9           Is the street food businessprofitable in India?

A9           Prasanna Bhalerao, M. Sc. inElectronics & Physics, Fergusson
College, Pune2h

Generally speaking, the food business is alwaysprofitable. It is also quite a
recession proof businessand only a severe condition like a pandemic affects
this industry.

Street foodbusiness is less capital intensive because one doesn't have to buy
or rent a huge place, buyexpensive gadgets, spend on furniture, decor and all
that is required in a restaurant. There will not be a lot of employees; most are
home run initiatives. Majorexpenses are raw ingredients, coming gas, and such
consumables plus hafta. While the restaurant will have to maintain food and
hygiene and routineinspections, as long asthe street food vendor maintains food
taste and quality, it is enough. There is a lot of profit by means of markup. A
simplecutting chai will cost ₹1~2 to makeand sells at ₹6~8.

All that said … Street food business is veryhard, exhausting and demanding. The
least of the effort, trouble, pain, etc., is standing for4-12 hours or whatever
is the business period. During peak hours, customers can get demanding. The
space where the shop is set up comes after a lot of “effort andunderstanding”.

Q10         How do I drink plenty of water? Ialways forget to drink water
because of laziness.

A10         Gopala Krishnan, Former AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966–2004)Just now

A questionasked for asking a question. When one is thirsty, he willrun to drink
water from somewhere.

Many cannot takeTiffin, snacks or meals without drinking water in between.
There will be constipation and youwill find difficulty in passing stools if one
does not drink water.

In toilet, whileexperiencing difficulty for passing stool, and force to exert
for pushingstool, experiencing a situation like life may end, your laziness
will go and automatically drink water asrequired.
