Q1           Which is the mostscenic highway in India?

A1           Rupesh T, Writer since(2021-Present)Tue

NH66 Expressway, Karnataka.

The ArabianSea on one side, the Souparnika river on the other and thedrive
along NH-66 at Maravanthein Udupi could be one of the most scenic. This unique
combination ofsea and river on each side of a highway is hard to find elsewhere
in India.

My note- The NH from Ambalappuzhato Alleppy is also verybeautiful, no
curveswith Arabian sea very close to NH all along.

Q2           Why is the Tirupatitemple closed for 12 years?

A2           Er. Rajiv Ranjan, FormerSoftware Engineer at Star Intertainment
Production (2020–2022)Mon

A strong belief on a legend about the actual existence of Swamy is foundin the
region. The incident goes like there was a king of unknown name who killed 12
people for acrime they committed and hanged them on the gates of this temple.
The templegot closed for 12 years and Swamy made an appearance.

Q3           What is your experiencein a long journey by train?

A3           Prasant Tiwari

I recently completed my 10,000 kms train trip in 14 days of journey & 250+hours
on board. It started from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh followed byVaranasi, New
Delhi, Chennai, Rameshwaram, KanyaKumari, Dibrugsrh, Varanasi& end at Lucknow.

During this trip I got an opportunity to cover India's Longest trainroute
Kanyakumari-Dibrugarhby famous 15905 Vivek SF Express. It took almost 83 hours
to coverthe distance of 4154 kms ( Train reached Dibrugarh with a delay of 6+
hours).

In this post, I'll share my experience in Vivek Express and review thetrain for
your convenience. Let's take a look into it.

As a railfan, This was one of my dream journeys which I was planning foryears
and finally I did it. My experience in Vivek Express was exceptional as I met
manypeople from various states during the journey. It is truly said that if
youwant to experience the real India, its diverse culture, beautiful
landscapes, feel the smell of every state then you should travel by train.

I decided to complete this journey in AC two tier of Vivek Express and Ibooked
the tickets 3 months before my journey date still I got RAC and herewe'll take
a look at first point i.e.,

1.Availability : As of myexperience, availability in thistrain is poor. You
need to book your tickets well in advance otherwise you aregoing to receive a
waiting list. Many of my co-passengers booked tatkal ticketto get a confirmed
seat but there is a good news for us. Looking at the demand& long waiting
lists, Railwayshas decided to increase the frequency of this train. From Nov
27,2022, this train is Bi-weekly. Hopefully, it will solve the problem
ofavailability.

Let's move to the other crucial point because of which everyone on
boardsuffered i.e.,

2. Punctuality:Being India's longest passenger train, it doesn'tget any
importance on its route. Train started getting delayed as soon as it departed
Ernakulam andcouldn't manage to cover its delay throughout the journey. At
last,it reached Dibrugarh with a delay of 6+ hours. Many co-passengers had to
book hotels as they werereaching late at night and travelling on roads at
midnight in North easternregion is not that safe.

3. Cleanliness: I have a seriousconcern on this part as the train was not clean
at all.I will not blame the on board cleaning staff, They did a good job but
due topoor rake maintainance & not cleaning it at properly at washing line,
washrooms were at pathaticcondition and this condition was of AC two tier.
Can't imagine thecondition of sleeper class washrooms.

4.Food :( Food ordered throughe-catering)

Food served on board is notrecommended at all. You canorder food through
e-catering to get at least better quality. Pantry car people were
servinghalf-cooked rice, which eventually can make you sick.

5.Safety & Security: There isno problem in terms of safetyand security. I
always foundRPF walking through coaches and ensuring the safety and security of
thepassengers. The only thing to keep in mind is that local travellers and
waiting-list passengers board the trainfrequently, even in AC two-tier. TTEs
were sending them to sleeper class, but you need tokeep an eye on your
belongings as we never know who is a thief.

6.Staff Behaviour : Behaviour ofthe staff was really good. They were doing their
job really well. They also shared some valuableinformation about their places
and invited me to visit their hometowns soon.

Overall, I've had a greatexperience. Throughout thejourney, I made a tonne of
new acquaintances and encountered a lot of people.I loved the food I got
fromdifferent stations, and I was utterly enthralled by some breathtaking
sights.

Q3           Should you use your airconditioner unit if it needs a new filter?

A3           Gopala Krishnan, FormerAssistant General Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966–2004)Justnow

Yes is my answer subject toconditions. I have three SamsungAC units in my home
in Chennai. After 4 years of installation, I found the filter units in 2
unitstorn here and there. The company had no stock. After four months suddenly
servicepeople appeared with a filter and ensured it was fitting. Next day
theyreplaced all.

Recently again I found thefilter damaged at two places in one unit. Since the
tearing is not big I wash and reuse. I find the AC is working perfectly.

If the spare filters are  notavailable we have to reuse slightly damaged
filters .

If not possible to reuse, even acut fiber filter sheet can be used, as told by
technician.

Q4           Which is the firstairport in India?

A4           Curious Traveller,Answered by Mohd Arshad Dec 10

Yes, the first airport in India was built way back in 1930. It was builtby
J.R.D. Tata in Nashik, Maharashtra.

However, in the initial days, there wasn't any runway and it was just a landing
strip. This strip however, was very helpfulin flying in and out aircraft. With
time and as the number of aircrafts flying in and out grew, itwas converted
into the first airport in India in 1932.

A few years later, in 1937, the Indian Airlines started its operationsfrom this
airport.

Q5           What is the best foodto eat on an empty stomach?

A5           Suraj Kumar,ComputerSc. Diploma 2015 from GP Dumka (Expected

1). Yogurt

Yogurt is a great food to eat on an empty stomach, especially first thingin the
morning. It’s packed with probiotics that help maintain a healthydigestive
system and robust immune system. Try adding some granola or berries;it’ll give
you more energy when you need it most.

You can also try eating yogurt right after working out—the protein willfuel
your muscles without weighing you down. If you like smoothies, mix yogurtinto
your next one! Or, if a smoothie isn’t enough to fill you up, try
makingparfaits at home using yogurt as your base.

2). Banana

Bananas are one of nature’s most perfect foods, with a healthy dose offiber,
vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Eating a banana or two first thingin the
morning will help you start your day with extra energy. Thecarbohydrates will
also give you a boost when your blood sugar is low. Inaddition, bananas contain
tryptophan—the amino acid that helps make serotonin(your happy hormone).

Serotonin makes us feel relaxed and happy. The more serotonin we have inour
bodies, the better we feel overall. And it all starts with eating a bananaon an
empty stomach! So if you want to kickstart your day with better staminaand more
energy, eat a banana before breakfast.

3). Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a top source of slow-release energy; it also helps stabilizeblood
sugar levels. The soluble fiber in oatmeal helps keep you full untillunchtime.
A good tip is to opt for steel-cut oats, which have been minimallyprocessed and
have less sugar than their instant counterparts.

Oatmeal maximizes your body’s ability to digest food and absorbnutrients; eat
your oatmeal without cream. Top with nuts or seeds for addedprotein and healthy
fats. Also, make sure to add cinnamon: Research shows thatconsuming cinnamon
may help control blood sugar levels and reduce inflammation.Another study found
that those who ate cinnamon foods felt fuller longer aftereating.

4). Eggs

Eggs are…

5). Almonds

Rich in vitamin E, almonds can give you more energy to kickstart yourday. Add
these nuts to a salad, eat them alone or throw them into a proteinshake. You
can also drink almond milk as a coffee substitute.

The unsaturated fats found in almonds help boost stamina and keep hungerat bay,
while their high fiber content will make you feel full longer. Duringworkouts,
add roasted almonds to your post-workout snack mix if you want extraenergy.

6). Green Leafy Vegetables

Vegetables have a lot of great benefits, but one of our favorites is thatthey
can help boost energy. That’s because green leafy vegetables are loadedwith
magnesium. Without enough magnesium in your body, you may experience lowenergy
levels.

Green Leafy vegetables are also high in vitamins A and C, which willprovide
even more energy-boosting nutrients. You can eat these veggies raw
orcooked—either way, they will give you a boost of energy when eaten on an
emptystomach. Examples include spinach, kale, romaine lettuce, mustard seeds,
andkale.

A7           Er. Rajiv Ranjan, FormerSoftware Engineer at Star Intertainment
Production (2020–2022)Dec 10

The so-called “22 rooms” inthe basement of the Taj Mahal are not really rooms,
rather a long arched corridor along which doorswere fixed so the space could be
utilised better, sources in the ArchaeologicalSurvey of India (ASI) who have
seen the basement area on several occasions, said.

Q8           Why do carnivoresstarve instead of eating plants to survive? For
example, strict carnivoresdon’t eat plants even if they are starving. The same
goes for strict herbivoreswho will not eat meat if they are starving. Why?

A8           Claire Jordan, Degreein biology and folklore; programmer, shop
owner, secretary on newspaper Mon

Obligate carnivores such as cats and weasels can’t extract much nutritionfrom
plants, especially raw plants. Their guts are too short and don’t have the
right bacteria.

There are very few strictherbivores: nearly all herbivores will eat some meat,
or at least insects, if they can get them. The few that don’t tend to havevery
delicately balanced gut flora and can easily die if that gets disrupted.

Q10         Are there any agerestrictions for children travelling on Indian
Railways?

A10         Meditation Bst, Lives inGorakhpur, India (2022–present) 23h

There have been some recent media reports that claim that Indian Railways has
changed therule with regards to booking of tickets for Children travelling in
the train. These reports claim that now children between the age ofone to four
years will have to get a ticket for traveling in the train.

These news items and media reports are misleading. It is informed that Indian
Railways has notintroduced any changes with regards to booking of tickets for
childrentravelling in the train. Onthe demand of the passengers, an option has
been given to them to buy a ticketand book a berth for their under 5 year old
child if they want. Andif they don’t want a separate berth, then it is free,
same like it used to beearlier.

A Circular dated 06.03.2020 ofMinistry of Railways states that Children under
five years of age shall becarried free. However, separate berth or seat(in chair
car) shall not be given. Therefore purchase ofany ticket is not required
provided separate berth is not claimed. However, ifberth/seat shall be sought
on voluntary basis for children of age below 5 yearsthen full adult fare shall
be charged.
