Q1         Why are the names of railway stationswritten on yellow boards and
black colors only?

A1          Manoj Kumar, Editor/Graphic Designer,A Youtuber &
Blogger(iv4public.com)Tue

The reason behindwriting the names of railway stations in the whole country
with yellow color isthat the yellow colorattracts you from a distance. In such
a situation, it is visible from adistance to the loco pilot moving towards the
platform. At the sametime, the bright yellow color is clearly visible both
during the day and at night.Due to which the drivers see it from a distance and
they get the signal tostop.

Apart from this, it is believed that yellow coloralso gives relief to the eyes.
Due to which yellow colored signboards give you some relief at crowded places.
At the same time, it also warnsthe loco pilot to be alert. Evenif the loco
pilot does not have to stop at the platform, he alerts the peopleby blowing the
horn right from entering the platform till leaving it.Let us tell you that
often the name of the station is written in black on theyellow board because
only theblack letters on the yellow board are visible to the farthest.

Q2         My mother's HBA1C level is 6.9. Is it adangerous level?

A2          Parthajit Misra, Former Lawyer,Consulting and Life Coaching Tue

Hello, i willanswer it in 2 parts

Is it higher than normal — yes

    Is it dangerous — no.

The basic premiseyou have to understand is that most autoimmune diseases are a
function ofincorrect diet intake. Diabetesis a prime example of food disorder.
It's not a disease. You correct your food, your timings, fasting schedules, it
can be 💯 corrected in 15/20 days.

I know of patientswho were on insulin and have now completely stopped meds
after following theregimen.

My note- It is an individual opinion, though life style has an effect in
reducing blood sugar levels. Tension, nomental peace, quarrel etc. affect blood
sugar level.

Q3         Why did India decline so rapidly afterthe end of British Rule?

A3          Balaji Viswanathan, History buff10h

Due to the freedomof people and an independent political system, many factors
saw a decline after the end of British rule.

Forinstance, famines drastically declined to 0.

British Raj and theEast India Company that preceded that were notorious in
agricultural managementof the country. They forced farmers to grow cash crops
like indigo in place offood crops and destroyed the traditional reserves &
surpluses.

This caused massivefamines from 1780s to 1940s. Some of these famines took
millions of people. Thelast famine India saw was in British Raj. Independent
India brought itdown to 0 to the point that India is food surplus country
despite having 1.3billion people.

There was a rapid decline of illiteracy. In 1947, Indiahad less than 25 million
literate adults. That number is over 700 million [thisis only including adult
population — nearly all children are enrolled in primary school and should
beliterate].

There is a rapid decline of unnecessary wars &conflicts India took part in.
During British rule this was the situation: someSerbian guy would kill an
Austrian guy in some random part of Bosnia andmillions of Indians would be
taken to fight in that pointless war. No sir, nomore.

Decline in untouchability and ostracising of specificgroups. When Britain left
India in 1947, the system was mired in a lot of crap.Untouchability was
legaland many castes were deemed as criminal by the penal code. LGBT
wasillegal. Since 1947 we madeuntouchability illegal and later made
Homosexuality legal. While castediscrimination still exists, it is a long way
declined from 1947 when onlyupper castes could hold in any major posts of
British Raj.

Many other things declined.

For instance, the process of ignoring India inglobal fora declined. In 1945,
India was denied a seat in UNSC on thebasis of it being a British colony,
despite contributing significantly to theallied victory. In the past few
decades, India has been steadily growing itsglobal stature — becoming a key
leader in fora such as the NAM, G20, Quad, SCOetc.

British Raj inone line: it killed your family, but provided you with a new
railway line toattend their funeral, say the eulogy in English and sip tea on
the way home.

Q4         What is the impact of aging on an olderperson?

A4          Aging with an Attitude, Answered by BruceHyland Tue

I’m 91 and I cansay that one of thebiggest effects is the physical limits you
have to face. You can’trun, your balance deteriorates, and you can’t pick up
anything heavy any more.I still do a round-the world trip every year,
participate in the local amateurtheatre and get to a ballet, an opera or a
concert about once a week, but I have to have a businessclass seat on a ‘plane
and I’m not up to climbing pyramids any more.

The worst is beingalone. My wife diedabout five years ago, and most of my old
friends are too frail to join me inmost things these days. Doing things alone
isn’t even half the funof sharing with another person. I do have the pleasure
of rereading books that I’ve completelyforgotten, and I can remind people of
how we lived during WW2 (mostpeople can’t believe it). Luckily, I can still
drive but I had to give uptennis many years ago (apart from attending
Wimbledon).

I know theoretically that I’m near the end, but itdoesn’t feel like that. I
still think that I’m goingto edit my thousands of coloured slides or finish the
novel that my wife almostcompleted. Of course, I don’t give a damn about
politics any more, except forthe occasional Letter to the Editor, and I can’t
get worked up about thegeneral stupidity of people and bureaucracies. I just
wish it was a fair world, but it isn’t.

My note- This isa better response about old age feeling by a person having some
will power.

Q6         Why does Russia have so many lands butit is not a country of
exporting vegetables?

A6          Ivan Novoselov, Russian, interested inworld history and politics
Dec 13

11 percent of Russian territory looks like this all yearlong (tundra)

The rest looks likethis just 6 months in a year with the exception of a few
southern regions that produce most ofRussian agricultural yield.

That said, Russia can export vegetables butit cannot compete with exporters
that have three-four crops in a year. Grain isRussian traditional
specialization and it’s just fine.

Q7         At what stage is a banana mostnutritious to eat, green, brown,
yellow, or fully ripe?

A7          World Health's, Diploma D.ED from SaiMohan Collage Wed

There are fourtyped of banana as per their ripening process- green, yellow,
spotted and brown. All of themhave different health benefits. Take a look and
decide which one you shouldeat.

As the banana ripens, the starch in it turns into sugar. For this reason, unripe
(Green) bananas high in are starch and resistantstarch, while ripe (Yellow)
bananas contain mostly sugar. Bananas also containa decent amount of fiber, and
are very low in protein and fat.

Green Banana

Unripe green bananaare full of resistant starch which gets a little harder on
your stomach as itis difficult to break them down. It is not easy to eat green
bananas though, asthese taste awful as compared to its ripe versions. Green
bananas have a waxytexture due to the high starch content which sometime may
make you feel bloatedor gassy.

The best thingabout green bananas is their low glycemic index. The starch is
converted intoglucose which keeps blood sugar levels in check. Green bananas
are best eaten as a curry or fried chips.

Yellow Banana

While green bananasare high in starch and low in sugar, it is why these
pleasant-looking bananasare soft and sweet. This variety has a glycemic index
but easy on the stomach. The nutrients are quickly absorbed by the body due to
low starch content. Also, these are loaded with antioxidants which are good to
boost your immunity. The only unfortunate part is that nutrient level decreases
as a bananaage this means green bananas are nutritious than yellow bananas.

Spotted Banana

Spotted banana aresweeter, older and wiser. The spots on them indicate that
they are aging andwhat amount of starch is converted to sugar. These brown
spots are similar tolittle sugar freckles which means higher the spots, higher
the sweetness.

Spotted bananaare better immunity boosters as these have higher antioxidants
which are linkedto prevent cancer as well!Thesebrown dots are linked with tumor
necrosis factor which has the potential to kill the cancer-causingtumor. So, or
you avoid eating spotted bananas or their appearance, time to rethink about it,

Brown Banana

This is the final stage of a banana, right before it isdeclared rotten. These
bananas have a mushy texturedue to the extreme sugar content present in it. As
all the starch that wasthere in its unripe green version has now converted to
sugar. But this alsoincreased their antioxidant level which means out of all
the four versions, fully ripe brown bananas havethe highest antioxidant value.

While it is hard toeat them like the regular ones, these are perfect to be used
for baking-baking.

A9          Priya Sahota, Senior Assistant atLovely Professional University
(LPU) (2019–present)Dec 17

A medium papaya has even more fiber than a mediumapple—enough to satisfy about
20 percent of your dailyadequate intake. Add papaya to a salad with sliced
jicama, cucumber, limejuice, chili powder, and salt. This relative of the apple
is denser and moretart

Q11                      What was one of the firstuses that humans gave to the
animals that they were able to domesticate?

A11               Matt Riggsby, MA ArchaeologicalStudies, Boston University Dec
17

The very first animals we domesticated were dogs, with the process starting
perhaps as early as 30,000 years ago. This was probably to some
extentaccidental, with wolf-like ancestors slowly getting used to approaching
humansmore and more closely.

What we probably used them for was as an alarmsystem. Wolves and dogsreact to
unusual sounds, sights, and smells by reacting noisily in order togive their
pack a heads up. Having increasingly dog-like wolvesaround would allow humans
to take advantage of those same warnings, making itvery hard for other
predators or human enemies to sneak up on them. They may also have been used
insome way to assist with hunting, since they’re superior scent trackers and
arevery good at driving game.

After that,. therewas a lull in domestication until around 10,000 years ago.
The animals domesticated at thattime, like goats and cattle, were largely kept
around for hides and meat.

It took afew thousand years longer for people to figure out that they could use
them for“renewable” resources like wool, milk, and labor.
