BEING  A COMPILATION THERE MAY  BE ERRORS

Q1         If you use liquid drain cleaner and theclog is not cleared, can the
drain cleaner come back up and will it bubble ifit does?

A1          Stuart Sjalund, no degree inElectronic License, Fanshawe College
(Graduated 1989)Dec 14

Most drain cleaners are sodium hydroxide. Yes this cancome back up and bubble.
Bubbling shows it isconverting oil to soap.

My note- In flats the drain pipes  are interconnected withinspection area. The
flat engineer may come/ depute a person to set right theproblem in southern
states as I have observed.

In homes there are inspection boxes indrain  and local plumber will clear
theproblem with in minutes by pushing hosepipe  withwater through these
inspection points.

Q2         How can we buy a train engine fromIndian Railways?

A2          Realistic Person, Sun

You can'tby a working train engine. It's a Government Propertyand not for
personal use. Where will you drive it?

However you can buy train engine when it's retired fromit's service. After
using train engine for33–35yrs, Indian Railways either scrap the Engine or put
them inside RailwayMusium or in Railway Station for Display. In some cases
Railway put their Retired Railway Engineson Auction. From there you can buy it
and put it outside your Factory orBuilding as a Display.

You can get retired Train Engine at approx80–90 Lakhs.

You can only get the shell of Engine whichmeans it's internal Engine and all
internal Electrical Components will he removedby Railway.

You can also buyRailway Coaches for personal use and open a Restaurant and
Hotel in it.

You can also buyAeroplanes and open Restaurant in it.

My note- In Telecom department also certainattractive  store items were sold
@3-4times of their prize earlier times. The purchaser had to keep thereceipt
always mentioning item purchased and amount paid. Two such itemspurchased were
smallinsulators in ceramic holding wire, and another lightening spike on top of
thepost. They were used on compound walls for beautyafter purchasing  by
rich. Now Land telephones are sold but only to subscribers.

Q4         Why are empty glass bottles hung by theIndian Army on the barbed
wires at the border?

A4          Rohit Virmani, I love learning newthings22h

Empty bottles are hung, so that if someone tries toinfiltrate, the army
personnel is alerted by the sound of the bottle hittingthe steel wires.

A slightest ofmovement in the wires cause the bottles to collide and it makes
sound enough toalert the army personnel.

It is a simple and easy technique to check & ward offthe infiltrations, if any.

My note- Nowwe can see plastic bottles are hung by internet cable people every
where. Theseare to keep the joints of wires intact, not affected by rain etc.

Q6         What is Rain Water Harvesting? How doesit work? What are its pros
and cons?

A6          Gopala Krishnan, Former AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966–2004)Just now

I am answering fromChennai, India. It is a place experiencing water scarcity
through out the year, worse in summer.

In front of my home water harvesting line passes. It ismade in RCC and most of
us provide slabs over it leaving inspection areas. The RCC square in cross
section slightly sloping and reaching a lake. Water falling in roadand from
compounds via PVC pipe goes to Lake as water reserve. Water is taken from the
lakes mostlydry in summer, is distributed after filtering and removing germs in
powerhouses. A number of such lakes are in Chennai. 90% the harvesting line is
not contaminated with polluted water.

Bonus-RO wateris provided to those require free in my area. Bore-well water
from streetbore wells is processed with medium machines in each street and
supplied in themorning.

Q7         Why do coffee prices tend to outweightea prices?

A7          Steven Haddock, Studied at YorkUniversity (Canada)Sat

The plant that gives us tea is an evergreen shrub and thetea itself is the
leaves, which are pretty muchproduced constantly. It can grow in pretty large
range of climactic conditions, even where the winters can be fairly cold (which
would, for example, killcotton). A typical tea shrub can be productive for a
century.

The plant that gives us coffee is also a perennial shrub. It can be productive
for up to 60 years. That’s pretty muchwhere the comparison ends. Coffee comes
from the fruit of theseplants, which of course only appears once a year. The
“bean” is theseed. Coffee is… particular about where it grows. It doesn’t do
well in warmplaces, but it does like a lot of sun, but also grows better in the
shade. Assuch, the best place to grow it is on the sides of mountains that face
the sunpart of the day, and to plant it under larger trees to provide shade.
However,if it freezes, it dies. It’s so sensitive that climate changehas pretty
much required growers to put the plants higher on the mountains. That makes
coffee cultivation somewhat more difficult than tea cultivation.

Q9         What all things have been inventedby/in India that very few people
know of?

A9          Rahul Jhabak, Former Founder at Thekartistic.com (2020–2021)2y

This guy here:Niranjan Karagi. In what we may call an underappreciated
invention, he usednano-composite technology to create a small bottle cap filter
which cleanscontaminated water 99.9 percent.

Upon observing thatthere was no filter in one of the government schools, he
came up with thisbrilliant solution, along with his brother Pradumn, which took
into accountboth costs and effectiveness: NirNal[1]

He cites, “As an engineer, you are always told to innovateand execute. I was
thinking of a solution that was neitherfeasible nor innovative. I had to come
up with something of my own. Somethingthat fits in well to solve the pertinent
and widespread problem of contaminatedwater”

And what's the best part? The filter costs mere 30Rupees.
