MR Srinivasan Spell bound; it is like the agony of a mother and the
grievances of a handicapped brother. It appeal dto me as if I was seeing
the drama of late Manohar . In the words of Krishna all are decided long
ago so Krishna whose task is completed must leave the land and wipe out
his clan and the nation too. So what was already in the
dialogues framed Gandhari had to say.
Vikarna killed himself in the sense as Karnan did. Both were spared but
salt was more important to them. On the thirteenth day of the war,
depending on the version of the story, Vikarna is either a silent bystander
in the slaying of Abhimanyu or an active participant. On the fourteenth day,
 Arjuna <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arjuna> navigates the chakravyuha
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chakravyuha> of Drona
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drona>, in order to reach and kill Jayadratha
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jayadratha> before sunset. Duryodhana sends
Vikarna to check Bhima's advance. Bhima, who had sworn to kill all of
Dhritarashtra's <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhritarashtra> true-born
sons, calls Vikarna a man of dharma <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dharma> and
advises him to step aside. Vikarna replies that even though he knew that
the Kauravas would not win a war against a side with Krishna
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krishna> on it, he could not forsake
Duryodhana. Pleadingly, Bhima reminds him of the dice game, where Vikarna
had criticised his brother. Vikarna replied: That was my duty then, and
this is my duty now. Fight me, o son of Vayu
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vayu>! Bhima quickly dispatches Vikarna; in
some versions of the story Vikarna asks for Bhima to perform his last
rites. His death brings tears to the eyes of Bhima. After his death, Bhima
laments: Alas, O Vikarna, you were just and knew what was dharma! You
fought in loyal obedience to the call of duty. Indeed this battle is a
curse upon us wherein men like you...have had to be slaughtered. Gandhari
tried to kill bheema. Gandhari and Dridharashtra could have given them the
pandavas five houses. Krishna was neutral and while sleeping Krishna first
gave the offer only to Duryodhana and duryodhana could have asked Krishna
but he did not So dramatically the motherhood as Lankeswaran of Manohar is
presented It was so good to read K Rajaram IRS 7423//6423
