Good one! I have a step ahead in times as I think. GIVING UP *What is Giving Up?*
*Kittadayin vettena mara Tamil proverb If will not get it, better withdraw * *Ennith thuniga karumam, thunindapin ennuam enbhadhu izzhukku. Tirukkural; action must be well thought of and planned; and thinking differently later, shall bring shame. * “Strategic quitting is a conscious decision you make based on the choices that are available to you. If you realize you’re at a dead end compared with what you could be investing in, quitting is not only a reasonable choice, it’s a smart one.” — Seth Godin I’m not saying that if something doesn’t feel right or instantly work out that you should give up on it straight away. Carrying on is also brave and can be the right decision. But if you know that quitting something is the right thing to do, don’t be afraid to do so because of what others might think. Make a change in your life. *We only have a limited amount of time and yet a limitless number of different paths to go down. Don’t waste your time on one that feels wrong, on something that is compromising your happiness. Find something new.* na caitad vidmaḥ kataran no garīyo yad vā jayema yadi vā no jayeyuḥ yān eva hatvā na jijīviṣāmas te ’vasthitāḥ pramukhe dhārtarāṣṭrāḥ BG 2 6 YAD VA JAYEMA OR YADI VA NA JAYEYU; TO CONQUER OR TO QUIT TO GET DEFEATED? TO BE OR NOT TO BE THAT IS THE QUESTION? SHAKESPEARE It’s hard for many of us to give up and walk away because it evokes images of weak-willed people with white flags shuffling off to ignominy. Most cultures have heroic sagas that extol the bravery and courage of the lone hero facing seemingly insurmountable obstacles to succeed in a worthy quest. The heroic spirit is practically part of our DNA, and we see it everywhere from ancient tales of bravery to modern action films. We are presented with a lofty ideal that can either motivate us to go beyond what we think we’re capable of or leave us filled with shame when we reach the breaking point and our quest fails. We rarely consider that sometimes walking away is plain, old-fashioned common sense. There’s no shame in giving up when it’s the best course of action; in fact, walking away may be our bravest show of courage and the hardest step we will ever take. “…After multiple, earnest attempts to reach a goal, it may be worth considering whether there’s a different, equally satisfying goal that we could be spending time on. This doesn’t mean lowering our standards. Quite the contrary: It means valuing one’s time and energy enough to invest it wisely.” The advice isn’t to abandon the goal itself, but to assess the method by which we are seeking to achieve it. Often stepping back and giving ourselves perspective can help us see a more effective approach or more resourceful plan of action. We also may discover that the goal itself needs to change. WITHDRAWL IS ALSO A CHANAKYA STRATEGY. KR IRS 18423 On Mon, 17 Apr 2023 at 15:58, Jambunathan Iyer <[email protected]> wrote: > Before you want to give up...
