CULTURAL QA 04-2023-23 Q1 Whatare the most interesting facts about human behavior?
A1 Krishna Kamat,Lives in Hindustan(2000–present)Tue The very lastperson on your mind before you fall asleep is either the reason for yourhappiness or your pain. People whooversleep tend to crave for more sleep. People who try to keep everyone happy often end upfeeling the loneliest. Thepeople who give the best advice are usually the ones with the most problems. The way a persontreats restaurant staff reveals a lot about their character. Publicly announcingyour goals makes you less likely to succeed. Peopleare more likely to blame someone in the case when something negative happens. The longer you hideyour feelings for someone, the harder you fall for that person. Your brainmakes you remember bad news more than good. The happier we are, the less sleep we require. My note- These are some general statements. Q2 Howmany engines are on a heavy lift military cargo plane? A2 Erika Fernandez,Experience inAviation Field Mar 4 The number of engines on a heavy lift military cargo planecan vary depending on the specific aircraft, but mostof these planes have multiple engines to ensure that they are able to liftheavy loads and fly long distances. Some of the mostwell-known heavy lift military cargo planes include the C-5 Galaxy and the C-17Globemaster III. Both of these aircraft are known for their impressive liftingcapacity and their ability to transport large quantities of equipment and supplies. The C-5 Galaxy, for example, has a maximum payload of 270,000 pounds and iscapable of carrying oversized cargo such as tanks and helicopters. The C-17Globemaster III has a maximum payload of 170,900 pounds and is known for itsversatility and ability to operate in a variety of environments. Both the C-5Galaxy and the C-17 Globemaster III have four engines each, which is a commonfeature of heavy lift military cargo planes. These planes aretypically powered by turbofan engines, which are known for their efficiency andreliability. The engines are mounted on the wings of the aircraftand are designed to provide the thrust needed to lift the heavy loads carriedby these planes. Q3 Ifall humans came from Africa but we just migrated to other continents, why arethere still people in Africa today? A3 ClaireJordan,Degree in biology and folklore; programmer, shop owner, secretary onnewspaper Sat Only small groupsleft Africa at any one time, and they probably did so partly in search of newland because there wereso many people in Ethiopia (which is where most of them left from) that therewasn’t enough available fertile land left there to support them. If you say “Thereare too many people in my home town, I can’t get a job so I’m going to move tosomewhere else” you don’t expect the *entire town* to up and follow you. Q4 Atwhat temperature should I set my air conditioner? A4 Gopala Krishnan, Former AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004 at Department of Telecom (1966–2004)Just now It depends mainly on the outside temperature and area to beconditioned and capacity of air-conditioner. Generally an answer24 degree C can be given. Q5 Whatdo you know about laptops? My note- Also budget Q6 Whoare some great Indians that most people have not heard of? A6 Abhisar Dev, Indian and proud6y Recently, i have visited Ayodhya and during mystay i came to know about a person named Mohammad Sharif, who isliving in Faizabad andi don’t know if he qualifies for being ‘great’ but for me he is great andcertainly one of a unifying pillar in communal heartland. So what does he do? In a day andage when even children look for professional services for the last-bath ritualof their parents, 70-year-old Mohammad Sharif of Faizabad has religiouslyperformed the last rites of nearly 25,000 unclaimed bodies during the last twodecades. Grief over themysterious death of his 20-year-old son and the discovery of his decomposedbody after a month made the then 50-year-old cycle repair mechanic take a vowto give unclaimed bodies a decent burial or cremation. It’s been twodecades, but Sharif has not let go of a single opportunity to perform the lastrites of an unclaimed body.Heis said to have cremated close to 25,000 unclaimed bodies with the money hecollects from residents of Faizabad and from fixing cycles. Sharif Chacha, ashe is commonly known, have been doing his job relentlessly without getting anysubstantial helpfromgovernment and otherwise. To felicitate his good works he was invited toSatyamev Jayate season 1. He reminds me oneof the Kaifi Azmi’s lines: “बस्ती में अपनी हिन्दू मुसलमाँ जो बस गए इंसाँ की शक्लदेखने को हम तरस गए” So, here is this(insan) man doing his part to keep ethos of India alive. He istruly one of the unsung heroes of India. With no Religious Bias, Mohd Sharif Has Cremated 25000Unclaimed Bodies Q7 Whatcountry is poorer than most people think? A7 Rhea Goikoetxea,Updated 1y All of East Asia (Outside South Korea, Taiwan, Japan). East Asia outsideof the aforementioned countries above is surprisingly poor. China can be especially rather poor once you leave biggermodern cities. I know Asia is nota country, it’s a giant region of the world, but I mention Asia as a wholebecause as a region is VERY INFLATED in the US. A lot of Americans assume Asiais a place of tremendous prosperity, technology (Assuming it’s all Japan),where highly educated people are the norm, with tons of opportunity andinnovation. I think it stemsfrom the fact that a lot of Asian-Americans are very successful and Americansassume it extrapolates back to Asia (not realizing a lot of Asian-Americanscome from wealthy backgrounds inside of Asia to begin with). Asia was theworld’s poorest region in the 60’s, but it has thrived massively…. however ithas a long road ahead. A prosperous EastAsian diaspora in the US, (Which is vastly cherry picked thanks to the USimmigration hoops and loops) does not equal East Asia being very wealthy, northe average citizen there being highly educated, productive and wealthy. The US (Yes, it is the US) The US is poorer than what many people think. No, the average American does not live like the characters in Melrose place.Americans work hard , in fact very hard to make it in life, a nation full ofopportunity BUT YOU HAVE TO GO OUT AND HUNT IT and doing so requires very hardwork, money, logistics, resources. Many lack those things thus they will failin the attempt. The Us system isdesigned to make you struggle hence you have to consume: Because of the wayAmerican cities are built, you need to spend money constantly, that is becauseyou need a car to be able to move around, a car requires insurance, gas, maintenance…. and if you want to live close to public transportation it can beVERY EXPENSIVE a small flat up in the thousands a month (most Americans can’treally afford it). So let’s say you’repoor and you do get a job and you have a car to move around…. but you also needa home…. rent in theurban centers of the US is terribly pricey! Want cheaper rent? You got that option, but that means living in the “country”, That is Americanfor “Middle of nowhere”, where you face a commute of at least two hours. Youcould find a local job so you don’t have to go to the city — but you wont havethat much to choose from in regards to jobs, I mean what could you possibly dofor a living in Sugar Ditch one hour outside Memphis? You can also pick atrailer park within the city limits (enjoy the neighbors with rebel flags, theTrump signs, guns, and hordes of teenage thugs running around), or the hood…(fall asleep to police sirens, loud music, and guns shooting in the distance.) In most Us citieswhere the jobs are rents can cost up to 3, 4 thousand dollars a month. Soexpensive cost of living, plus little safety net (despite good salaries) canlead to a life of tremendous stress and anxiety (which is rampant amongst a lotof Americans), IF I LOSE MY JOB, WHAT WILL I DO? Want to get abetter job so you can afford all those things? STUDY! Yes, a good strategy….but education is VERY EXPENSIVE…. many simply cannot afford to study and workand pay all those bills that come with living the American way so they arestuck. Poor? Can’t afforda car? GOOD LUCK GETTING A JOB AT THAT MCDONALDS, how are you gonna get to yourjob if you need a car, and you cannot afford a car in the first place? Because of awfulpublic transportation, poor infrastructure in regards to people being able tomove around, and cities built in a way that cater to the rich who want to stayaway from the poor…. There are food deserts in the US, meaning entire areas ofcities where people who are poor and cannot afford cars cannot go tosupermarkets to buy food, and since supermarkets don’t want to open in thetrailer park nor the hood, then the closest food source for a lot of people is6, 7, 8, miles away!! Too far to walk…. As a result they go and buy food at thegas station in the corner…. and eat things like coca cola and chips fordinner…. One of the reasons why obesity is EPIDEMIC amongst poor Americans. With obesity come disease OH BUT HEALTHCARE IS PRIVATE!! Enjoy not being ableto see a doctor! UK I can already seeit coming, hordes of brits in my comment section complaining….. (ABSOLUTERUBBISH — LONDON THE CENTER OF UNIVERSE!) Many parts ofLondon, many cities and towns around the country are a charm, with gentlerolling hills, lovely abbeys, idyllic villages… however let’s not forget that a lot of the UK isalso an endless ocean of post-industrial gray cities reminiscent of Newark NJ,dotted with rather substandard homes, and surprisingly substandardliving conditions… I read a report that up to 85% of all homes built before1982 in the UK suffer from poor insulation and mold. Add to that a lot of whatI wrote below in regards to France but with worse weather, bad food, terribleinfrastructure, and possibly more crime. I remember sleeping close to theairport in Luton because of an early morning flight and listening to the localLuton news say that 12 stabbings occurred during the weekend locally, two ofthem resulting in deaths. France. (YEAH YEAH YEAH, LA COTE D’AZUR, ANDPAREEEEE!! AND HERMES, CARTIER, CHANEL!!) blah blah blah It’s not thatFrance is poor, it’s a very egalitarian society (at least it tries to - or usedto), HOWEVER, I often findsomething extremely depressing about being a working class person in France. Working class French often more than not live likesardines in awful cement blockhouses located in crappy “banlieues”,far from tourists who think France resumes to touristy areas of Paris. (Don’tlet the creamy colors of the buildings fool you - they are awful places)….. addto that, the fact these buildings are crowded, often smelly, and it is just avery crappy atmosphere. The crappy weather which is common in the northern halfof France does not help either, but it’s not like hot blistering sun ofsouthern France helps either when you live in a crappy banlieue outsideMarseilles. Honorable mentionof course, the giant awful carrefours that dot the French landscape “FrenchWalmart”, always there for you, where “if you live in the aforementionedbanlieues” you walk to if you want to buy cigarettes, cheap wine, terribleFrench coffee, disgusting pre-packaged croissants, pain au chocolat in a veryFrench way. (trust me, I’ve been to every single region of metropolitan Franceexcept Corse) I do not know why, but there is something just awfullyDEPRESSING about French living outside the fancy city centers and the idylliccountryside. Just the whole“Worry not, the state is here to take care of you while you rot in a shittyblockhouse and you see your life and dreams pass you by…. however rest assuredthe government will be there to provide you with shitty subsidies so yoursupply of bad cheap wine and terrible carrefour croissants is guaranteed” Then the Frenchwonder why every couple of years kids from those banlieues go out into Frenchcities and do this. Russia Just because Russiahas nukes and a powerful army and Russian oligarchs show their fortunes off forthe world to see, it doesnot mean Russia and its masses live nicely! In fact, Russiaoutside the nice Europeanized downtowns of Moscow and St. Petersburg can be apretty crappy place, and the farther you get from those two cities, the more BRUTALSKY” itgets. (Sorry Russians no offense), add to that the SHITTY CLIMATE, the brutalcold, brutal architecture, brutal history, brutal society, brutal governmentfull of plutocrats and thugs…. My note- All that glitters is not Gold Q8 Whatare some amazing facts about Mount Kailash? A8 Anurag Pandey,Lives in Bengaluru,Karnataka, India1h Har Har ShambhuShiv Mahadeva Lord Shiva resideson Mount Kailash, butbefore going to Kailash there is another special mountain. Its name is “Om Parvat” (Om Parvat). Even on this theexistence of Lord Shiva is considered. This mountain is present on theIndo-Tibet border. The surprising thing is that there is a natural shape of'Om' on this entire mountain. This shape isformed by the snow that falls here every year. The height of OmParvat is 6,191 meters (20,312 ft) above sea level. According to Hindu beliefs, there are eight places in the Himalayas where Om has been found, but so far Omhas been discovered only at this place. Many mythological stories are associated with Om Parvat. People believe thatit is God's miracle to have naturally formed wool on the mountain.Coming herewhere one can see the beautiful shades of nature.Whereas, spiritually one getspeace of mind. Here thetravelers hear the sound of Om naturally, but experts believe that this may be due to the snow falling on themountain. When the first rayof the sun falls on the top of this mountain, the golden aura of the word Omstarts shining. Although, this mountain has been situated here forcenturies, but this mountain came tothe public's notice in 1981. Let us tell youthat there are still many peaks in the Himalayan mountain range, where gods andgoddesses are believed to reside. Q9 Whydo animals give birth to more kittens while humans give birth one or two at atime? A9 Anita Brown, Worked at family petshop. Sold cat & dog supplies and food Sat Cats reproductivesystem is made to have several kittens at once. ***From her uterus to how many nipples she has to suckleyoung, a cat is designed to raise kittens. Most cats haveabout 4 to 6 kittens at a time. A female cat can have several litters per year.Kittens stay with their mother and nurse fir 8 to 12 weeks. A single litter canhave more than one father. The female cat can mate with several makes and partof her litter can be from different fathers. Humans are designed to have one or possibly two babies ata time. Our babies need much more time with theirmother. Human babies will nurse over a year. Our children take longer tomature. Nature designed each creature including humans to give themthe best chance of raising their young to maturity and so the species wouldsurvive. I don't know aboutanyone else but I love to see six fat little cute kittens but as a mom, I wouldnot want to have a litter of kids. They are hard enough one at a time. My note- Goats have only two nipples but give rise to 4-5kids Q10 Isthere a historical basis to suggest that manuscripts in southern India of ourancient texts like Mahabharat and Ramayana are more authentic due to thebarrier created by northern India against invasions? A10 Ram Abloh,Hindu 23h Certainly, more manuscripts of ancient texts have beenpreserved in southern India, especially Kerala, due to the remoteness of accessfrom the rest of the continent through land invasions. The question ofauthenticity cannot be uniformly answered for all manuscripts. Each manuscriptneeds to be individually and critically examined and compared with otheravailable manuscripts. So,there is no automatic certification of “more authenticity” for manuscriptsfound in the south. If only one manuscript of a text has ever beenfound, even then there are ways of deciding how much of it is authentic, through cross-references to other texts, the age of the linguistic style, etc.Sometimes, the only option is to publish the text found in the singlemanuscript, with remarks that future discoveries may amend the text. However, ancient manuscripts have been found and are beingfound even today, in every part of India. EspeciallyMahabharata manuscripts have been found in abundance across the land. Themonumental 50-year project of BORI (Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute) inlate 19th/early 20th century to create a critical edition of the most ancientform of the text available, revealed that there were broadly 2 recensions of the Mahabharata —northern and southern. After careful studyof nearly 200 manuscripts from north and south, they concluded that the northern recensionpreserves the more ancient form. The southern recension was found tocontain revisions and additions from later centuries. Many additional storiesor different versions of events therefore are found in the southern recension. In general, the southern recension tends to “soften” harshsituations found in the original events, and create a more surreal mythologicalcladding to the more realistic original events found in the northern recension. The case ofmanuscripts of Vedic texts is a different category. Different Vedic recensionsbecame, over time, gradually more prevalent in certain parts of India, andhence, the manuscripts of the recension that is dominant in a region isnaturally more easily to be found there. Of course invasions and loss of livesand livelihood have obliterated many Vedic recensions over the centuries. So, forexample, more manuscripts of the Taittirīya recension might befound in the south, more of theVājasaneyi in the north, more of the Atharvaveda Paippalāda in Rajasthan and Gujarat (and in factSindh before the Islamic conquest) more of the Kāṭhaka in Punjab (theundivided Punjab) (perhaps in earlier centuries) more of the RāṇāyanīyaSāmaveda in western Karnataka (and to some extent Goa, southernMaharashtra) more of the Jaiminīya Sāmavedain Kerala with the Nambudiris The exception seemsto be the Śākala recension of the ṚgvedaSaṃhitā,which is widespread across India. Even Max Muller in the 19th century marvelledat the uniformity and complete convergence of all manuscripts from differentparts of India, which did not differ by even a single letter. Other noteworthycases where the manuscript has been found only in Kerala so far, include: Śānkhāyana recension of ṚgvedaSaṃhitā,and KauṣītakiBrāhmaṇa, KauṭilīyaArthaśāstra, Bhāratīya Nāṭyaśāstra, the dramas of Bhāsa, who is more ancientthan Kālidāsa All the above QA are from Quora website on 19-04- 2023.
