Somewhere around the 70s whenI just started learning computer assembly language BASIC , with a small cell phone size computer in my hand, sitting in the class of an institute, many wrote in the media that computer entry will make this land jobless. My way of looking at life was different; when I just joined the service, after passing out the exams of center, I thought why would not I start a fiberglass boat project and be a businessman. I applied for leave . Then travelled all over India including then Bambay, where the only Indian co was FIBERGLASS PILKINGTON who was selling the raw material. But after preparing the project report and going for the bank loan, they were so peevish. When I wanted to make it a venture capital, many arajakas demanded a profit share ratio of 70 to 90% for 5 to 10 years. In the meantime, a lot of media goofe that all will come to the street were there. After 3 months of tarin, I threw the project into the wooden box, and felt my 750 gross was much better. Then I went to learn C++, different algorithms and sometimes I was in the setting up of the computer divisions in my office also. All of us worked fully and retired safely with the pension. The number of posts were expanded. The unemployment ratio was at the ebb and flow as usual. Now this AI. I understood one thing. Nothing can destroy anything. Only, we don't have brains. Every progress, as YMji says , might shut down nature, but not the expansions of the job potential, house constructions, marriages, child births etc-nothibg. AI may do so many; even men and women may have the sexual pleasures aalso. But passion and emotion AI cannot impart. And AI can do only what humans proposed with his intelligence that day. Even today , I strongly believe that why all the science explosions were only after 1800AD? Because, the British stole many write ups of the Indian Vedas, which opened up the frozen brains of te western. Unfortunately what we had were only the uncoded Vedas which Sir C V Raman like cannot have access to. West read and decoded to discover so many. Ayurveda then did not evoke much interest and hence those private family property were only here. E=Mc2 is sure from, Vedic maths only. Or else why the scientists , including the Scopheners, spoke so tall about our scriptures?. Einstein knew; Bohr knew; but we are foolish. So AI is one which shall be fed from what we know day after day. Or else, they are dead. Also if the electricity or other fuels are depleted, AI is dead. Humans have to defend themselves only. AI may open up offices where middle managers may be needed to control and feed the AI.
