Q1           What is a suggested filter for akitchen sink?

A1           Gopala Krishnan, Former AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966–2004)Just now

In Chennai vesselsshops have stainless steelhigh quality filter costing around
100–00. Depending on the size ofsink outlet three models are there. The one
suited to your sink can bepurchased from them.

One in fibre model is also there with metallic edge. Theproblem is if water is
filled in sink, it will float.

There are manyflats with small kitchen sink where vessels are cleaned in the
sink itself byfilling water. One small plate is placed above the sink outlet to
prevent waterflowing out through sink outlet, sink filled with water and
vessels cleaned. Inthose sinks fibre model is not suitable.

I have fittedstainless steel filter cups in 2 sinks in my home, one in kitchen
and anotherin work area before about 10 years. They have not corroded till date.

My note- Cleaning the filter  every day along withvessels will give a
glittering appearance to filter es[ecially in stainlesssteel sinks.

Q2           What are the uses of ceramic tiles?

A2           David Lopez, Marketing Analyst10mo

There is a reasonfor the immense popularity of tiles in the world of
construction. Today, it isimpossible to envision constructing a home without
the use of tiles. They haveleft no element of the construction process
untouched, from our kitchen to ourbathroom, and from our flooring to our walls,
we can see tiles everywhere.

And tiles will continue to hold a significant role in theworld of building for
a very long time due to their affordability, diversity, and ease of use. One
such tile is Ceramic Tiles.Ceramic tiles are commonly used for flooring, walls,
worktops, backsplashes, and bathrooms. Ceramic tile may be the only flooring
option that works in everyarea of the house.

Ceramic tiles have a firm, solid surface that will notcollect or retain dirt,
dust, pollen, or other allergens.Ceramic tiles are also popular among
homeowners and tile installers. That isbecause of its classic appearance and a
vast selection of potential designs. Though ceramic floor tiles arebecoming
more popular, keep in mind that this sort of tile has its own set ofadvantages
and disadvantages.

Ceramic tiles aresuper strong, long-lasting, and abrasion-resistant. If you
have a professional installation, thetiles can last up to 20 years or even
longer if you maintain them properly.Even if one tile cracks, it is usually due
to a hard impact, and you will findit simple to repair one tile.

As a result, you'llbe able to keep your overall costs low because you won't
have to replace tileson a regular basis. Oneof the things that people like best
about tiles flooring is how simple it is tokeep clean. If any stains, dirt, or
liquids get on it, they will all sit on topand not be absorbed, making it easy
to clean.

Q3           How do you make ceramic tiles lessglossy?

A3           Mayank Thakur, Construction GeneralManager (2011–present)May 13

There are a fewdifferent methods you can use to make ceramic tiles less glossy:

Sandpaper: Youcan use sandpaper to rough up the surface of the tiles and reduce
the shine.Use a fine-grit sandpaper, such as 220-grit, and sand in a circular
motionuntil the shine has been dulled. Be careful not to apply too much
pressure oryou could damage the tiles.

Vinegar: You canalso use vinegar to reduce theshineon ceramic tiles. Mix equal
parts water and vinegar in a spray bottle and spraythe solution onto the tiles.
Let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub with a soft-bristledbrush. Rinse with
clean water and dry with a soft cloth.

Commercialproducts: There are also commercial products available
specificallydesigned to reduce the gloss on ceramic tiles. Look for
productslabelled as "tile deglosser" or "tile etching solution" atyour local
home improvement store. Follow the instructions carefully toavoid damaging the
tiles.

It's worth notingthat these methods will only reduce the shine on the surface
of the tiles, notchange the color or texture of the tiles themselves. If you're
lookingfor a more significant change, you may need to consider replacing the
tileswith ones that have a different finish.

Q4           How do I make ceramic tilesnon-slippery?

A4           Design7 Architects, May 29

Making ceramictiles non-slippery involves modifying the surface of the tiles to
increasetraction and reduce the risk of slipping. Here are somemethods to make
ceramic tiles less slippery:

Surface Texture: One effective way to improve theslip resistance of ceramic
tiles is to create a textured surface. This can beachieved through different
methods:

Purchase tiles witha textured or rough surface specifically designed for
non-slip applications.

Opt for tiles withnatural textures like a matte finish or slight relief
patterns that offerbetter grip.

Use abrasivetechniques, such as sandblasting or etching, to create texture on
the surfaceof the tiles. However, this method requires specialized equipment and
should be performed byprofessionals.

Anti-Slip Coatings: Applying an anti-slip coating tothe surface of ceramic
tiles can enhance their slip resistance. These coatingscreate a thin layer on
top of the tiles that provides improved traction.Anti-slip coatings are
available in various formulations, such as epoxy orpolyurethane, and can be
applied by professionals. It's important to choose coatings that
arespecifically designed for ceramic tiles and suitable for your
intendedapplication.

Anti-Slip Treatments: Anti-slip treatments arechemical solutions that can be
applied to the surface of ceramic tiles toincrease traction. These treatments
work by altering thesurface texture or creating microscopic indentations that
enhance grip. They are typically applied to clean, dry tiles and require proper
applicationand curing time. It's advisable to consult with professionals who
specialize inanti-slip treatments to ensure effective and long-lasting results.

Non-Slip Mats orRugs: Placing non-slip mats or rugs on ceramic tile surfaces
canprovide immediate slip resistance. These mats have rubberized or
texturedbacking that helps prevent slipping. They are especially useful in
areas proneto moisture, such as bathrooms or kitchens. Ensure that the mats or
rugs areproperly secured to avoid tripping hazards.

Regular Cleaning and Maintenance: Keep theceramic tiles clean and free of
substances that may make them slippery. Clean the tiles with non-sliptile
cleaners and avoid using excessive amounts of wax or polish, asthese can make
the surface slippery. Promptly wipe away spills or moisture toprevent the tiles
from becoming slick.

Remember, the effectiveness of these methods may varydepending on the specific
type of ceramic tile and itssurface characteristics. It's important to consider
the intended application, consult with professionals, and conduct thorough
research to determine the mostappropriate and effective solution for making
ceramic tiles non-slippery.

Q5           What is the deffrence betweenvitrified and ceramic tiles?

A5           Divine Energy Vastu, vastu &cosmic energy consultant.& Astrology6mo

Ceramic tiles have a coarser texture than vitrifiedtiles, which are known for
their glossy look. However, ceramic tiles have a more natural and earthy look
than vitrifiedtiles, whose glassy appearance gives an artificial touch. The
process of vitrification makes vitrified tiles stronger than ceramictiles.

Vitrified tilesdo not absorb water and are not very slippery when wet.

They arepreferred for toilet or bathroom flooring. Vitrified tiles already
possessmore anti-skid properties as compared to ceramic tiles.

Q6           Are ceramic tiles porous?

A6           Cindy Douglass, Imaginative artist w/a passion for clay, paints, &
copper. 4y

Interestinglyenough, the clay used tomake ceramic tiles is generally divided
into 3 types of clay bodies, and thoseclay bodies are determined by their
porosity!

For example, Earthenware, after being fired in a kiln to vitrification
(madeglass-like), can absorb as much as 10% - 15% ofits weight in water. This
is a general rule. Some earthenwareclay bodies can absorb less.

If made intotiles, and used on the floor of homes in a desert area, they could
help keep ahome cool just by mopping the floor.

Stoneware usually absorbs about 2%-5% of water.Again, this is a general rule.
Some stoneware clay bodies can absorb less. Depending on the clay body recipe,
this could be a good choice fortiles used around fireplaces.

Porcelain usuallyabsorbs 0% - 1% of water. This is a great choice for tiles
aroundpools and bathrooms. Some liquids we don’t want on the floor, even in a
desert!

If you have somedry tile around and want to test it, first bake it at 185ºF for
a couple ofhours to ensure total dryness. Then carefully weigh it on a gram
scale.

Next, boil thattile in water for an hour. After the time has passed, take the
tile out of thepot, pat it dry with a towel, and weigh it again.

Q7           Can you install an electrical outletinside a kitchen cabinet?

A7           Gopala Krishnan, Former AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966–2004)Just now

Yes is theanswer. Some types of LPG stoves have provision to ignite through
electrical spark. Byrotating the knob and hold for about 10 seconds , spark
will ignite the gas inthe burner. For thespark electrical  power is extended
froma plug inserted to the socket wired inside kitchen cabinet.

Switch to operate the spark supply willbe in the general switching panel. These
types of LPG stoves are highlysophisticated.

There are simplestoves in which a spark is created when rotating the knob by
electrical spark. These sparks are created by a heavy duty dry sell insidethe
stove suitably fitted inside the stove. I was having such a LPG stove.

During my kitcheninterior work such a power socket was provided inside the
cabinet. However I felt it can betterused for a light inside the cabinet and
provided a low wattage LED fittingoperated by the switch when needed.

In my opinion inside kitchen cabinetprovision of any electrical provision other
than for low wattage LED lightingis not desirable. That too when absolutely
necessary.
