Q1           Will a BSNL SIM from India work inDubai?

A1           Norbu M Ashraf, Founder and ChiefExecutive Officer at Team Moplet
(2007–present) 6y

It should work andit will work if international roaming is activated with your
connection.

Etisalat and DU arethe two operators in Dubai and both of them have tie up with
BSNL.Charges are really high. Be careful.

2ND ANSWER- Hari Kaimal, Engineer at BharatSanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL)
(2003–present)6y

You *can* activateInternational roaming on BSNL SIM card. The calls will be
very costly.

Considering you’re the cost-conscious type, use yourpassport to get a local SIM
card if you have to make outgoing calls.

You will receiveyour incoming calls on your roaming-enabled BSNL number, of
course, but it will havesignificantly high roaming charges.

3RD ANSWER- Nilesh Doshi, Lived in Dubai, UnitedArab Emirates (2009–2016)6y

Yes it will work ifyou have activated the international roaming, you will get
amazing networkbecause they have tie up with local companies du or etisalat.

Call to BSNL andactivate the international roaming, make sure you have enough
balance to getthe calls, per min call charges would be around rs.125, incoming
and outgoing.

Takethe Du simcard from Dubai airport and use thatfor local use.

ANSWER 4 Arghya Chatterjee, Ask me about BSNL products, notBSNL jobs6y

If you haveinternational roaming activated and if BSNL has a tie-up with some
UAE partner,it will work. But the calls will be prohibitivelycostly. It is
advisable to take a local SIM there for the duration.

E.g., I hadinternational roaming activated in my Airtel SIM and after an HDFC
card swipein UK, I received acall from HDFC bank verifying the transaction. The
call costed me 50/-.

ANSWER 5 Sumit Jain,Studied at MBA in Finance6y

You'll need to getInternational Roaming activated and you can then expect it to
work.

Or get a local SIM cardwhen you land at your destination. Your passport would
be enough to get that.

ANSWER 6 Jeevan Kr,Lives in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates(2012–present)1y

This can only bedone before going to UAE. Go to your nearest BSNL shop or
Exchange and request themto replace your SIM with an international SIM. They
will provide aninternational sim (this will not change your mobile number)
which will takearound 6-24hrs to activate.Cost for new SIM is 50 INR. After
that do a special roaming recharge of 168 INRwhich is valid for 90 days. You
are all set to travel.

After reaching UAE,go to BSNL SIM menu and go to Network and select
International. After sometime, it will show the range and you can send or
receive messages and calls.

My note- In 2008, my son applied visa for me andmy wife to visa for visiting
him in Jeddah. Authorities permitted visa for heronly.

For conversationwhile at Jeddah I made my Airtel SIM  Internationalroaming and
gave to her. Airtel had intimated about higher tariff then onwards. Talking of
arrival atairport to son, later I had  foodpoisoning and admission in hospital
after attending my brother in law’s housewarming. She made 4-5 emergency calls,
the bill came above 6000-00

Q2           What is it like to live and work inDubai?

A2            Akbar Syed,, lives in Dubai, UnitedArab Emirates
(2018-present)Updated 3y

I have been workingin Dubai for more than two years now. Before I moved to
Dubai, I worked inIndia for about 4 years. Few highlights about living in Dubai:

Man- Made Wonder - With very few natural sites, there are so many man- made
wonders here that you cant help but appreciate thehuman limits.

Sunday to Thursdays - The working days are Sundayto Thursday and not Monday to
Friday. Some companies also have Saturdayworking.

Salaries without tax - We don’t pay any taxes onthe salaries we get here.
Whatever we get is our take-home salary. There is 5%VAT though which we pay for
buying products/

Some nationalities do pay taxes to their home countries.

Lifestyle - Many people spend extravagantly here, some can actuallyafford and
some live on the edge. I have seen many people living inposh areas, buying
high-end cars, living on credit cards to maintain thesocietal status. I believe
that you can save significant amount of yoursalaries and also maintain a decent
lifestyle if you live within your means.

Food - There are plenty of restaurants catering to allkind of tastes and
budgets. Being a vegetarian, I love the food here and thenumber of options I
have.

My note- Butcharges are heavy. When I visited Dubai in 2004, I was charged one
iddali @1.5Dirham(at that time 15-00) at Hotel Saravanabhavan.

Hub for all the nationalities - You can see peoplefrom all the countries here
so English becomes the common language here. Due to presence of abig no of
people from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, Hindi & Malyalam arealso quite
common.

Work Culture - It really depends on the companyyou are working for. Also,
depends on your level. I have not seen much of “workfrom home” culture here but
many companies provide you flexibility in work.

Law and Order - You can roam around freely atany hour and no one will harm you,
you drop your wallet on the road and youshall get it back. People respect law.
Cars will give way to the pedestrians even during peakhours. Though there is
crime, but it is very very low. The fines are also very highdue to which people
follow the rules.

Q3           What happened to Yadavs afterGandhari cursed Lord Krishna?

A3           Nidhi Pareek, A proud Hindu3y

“If my years ofShiv Bhakti have been true, and if I have been true to my
husband, then, may you die in 36 years from today. May Dwaraka be flooded and
may every one of yourYadava kin perish by killing each other, just as you made
the kins of Kuru killone another. May the Yadavas die out…. may the Yadavas die
out….”

This was the curse Gandhari gave to Lord Krishna but soonafter she was close to
tears her anger all gone, and she fell down on her kneesto the Lord’s feet.
Krishna lifted her up, his smile stuckonto his face and said “Maathey, that
curse of yours will take effect, not only because of your true devotiontowards
me and your husband but also due to the ever-changing sands of time.

In the meantime, let’s attend to the tending of the dead and sending them away
on their journey to the heavens.”And supporting Gandhari, Krishna walked past
the startled Pandavas.

Yadavas were toopowerful than under Krishna's protection and no outer force can
defeat them. Ifthe Yadavas themselves areleft unchecked, at some point in time
in the future, they will become a burdento the Earth. So, when Gandhari curses
Lord Krishna and his race, He thanks herfor having solved his problem.

Days flew by afterthe coronation of Yudhishtra as the king of Hastinapura.
Krishna went back toDwaraka to rule over the beautiful island kingdom. The
Yadavas were in eternal bliss in Dwaraka. Somuch bliss, that they forgot good
conduct, morals, and the importance ofdiscipline and humility. Consequently,
once when some learned men came toDwarka, the Yadavas sealed their destiny.

It so happened thatonce great sages like Vishwamitra, Durvasa, Vashista, Narada
among others wereon a pilgrimage. After visiting various places, they visited
Dwaraka to meetLord Krishna and Balarama. The Yadavas, which included Bhodakas,
Vrishnis,Kekeyas, and Andakas, who were once virtuous devotees of Krishna, had
losttheir sense of culture and discipline and were little more than hooligans.
A group of Yadava boys who sawthe great sages decided to play a prank on them
in order to test their powers.

They dressed Samba, the son of Krishna and Jambavati, asa woman and tied many
robes to his belly so he'd appear as a pregnant woman. They approached the sages
and asked them to predict whether the 'lady' would give birth to aboy or a
girl. The Rishis realized the truth through their divine visionand were
enraged. In anger, the sages cursed them saying that the disguised boy will
givebirth to a lump of Iron which will destroy the entire Yadava race.

The Yadavas, shocked though they were, were too arrogant to even apologize. They
left thescene, laughing off the curse as the speech of one who had lost all his
sanity.Things were however very different the next morning. Sambha developed
labor pains and soon delivereda mace from within him. The Yadavas were now
struck with fear. Theyimmediately rushed with the mace to Akroora and Ugrasena
and in the presence ofKrishna himself; they narrated the weird tide of events.

Akroora immediately ordered, “Grind the mace to a finepowder and cast it into
the seas.” The Yadavas nodded and retreated.Outside the palace, the Yadavas had
obeyed Akroora’s command to the dot. Theyhad ground the mace finely.
Everythingwas ground except a sharp triangular piece which appeared to be very
hardindeed. And then they had thrown the fine powder and the lone piece into
thesea. Happy that they had taken care of the matter so easily, theyreturned
back to their general state of intoxication and bliss.

Time rolled by. The triangular piece of the mace was swallowed by a fish. The
fish wascaught by a hunter, who upon finding the piece in the fish’s
entrailsimmediately used it to craft a fine poisonous arrow. The fine powder,
onthe other hand, washed back ashore and deposited itself on the beautiful
coastof Dwaraka. A certain grass grew in lush abundance in the areawhere the
powder was deposited. Everything was set for the final showdown.

The Yadavas soonforgot all about their curses. The consumption of alcohol was
banned in theentire kingdom of Dwaraka. However, after 36 years of Mahabharat
war, lots ofomens used to appear in the Dwaraka city. The Sudarshanachakra,
Panchajanya shankh, the chariot of Lord Krishna, and the plough weaponof
Balarama disappeared from the earth. One day, the Yadavasgathered on the beach.
The liquor that they drank made them lose their sensescompletely.

They startedteasing one another, bringing up the gory pasts and gruesome
mistakes of eachother. Satyaki and Krithavarma acted as the starting points of
the doom ofDwaraka. Satyaki had fought on Pandava’s side in the battle of
Kurukshetra andKrithavarma, on the Kaurava side. They taunted one another,
bringing backmemories of the horrific war. In a fit of rage, Satyaki jumped on
Krithavermaand cut his head off. The friends of Krithavarma pounced on Satyaki
and a greatbrawl followed.

Pradyumna, the sonof Krishna, innocent though he was, found himself in the
thick of the fight andwas killed. As they have come to the seashore for
pleasure, they didnot carry any weapons along with them. They saw the long
grown grass inabundance along the seashore. They picked up the grass stems and
beat andkilled each other. Those grass stems are nothing but blades made ofthe
powder of the same lump of Iron born to Samba. Thus the curse of
saintsfructified.

Each blade ofgrass became a mace, smashing into the Yadavas, killingthem
instantly. It was a matter of moments before the Yadavas lay dead, killedby
their own clan members and in front of their very King. Except Krishna, all
Yadavas were killed. Krishna’s charioteer Daruka and another one called Babhru
also survived. They both approached Sri Krishna and said: “O Krishna! All
Yadavas were killed.Whereabouts of Balarama are not known. It is better to
search for him.”

Balarama was in deep meditation under a tree.Seeing this, Krishna told Daruka,
“O Daruka! you immediately go to Hastinapuraand inform Dharmaja about the mass
massacre of Yadavas and bring Arjuna here. He will lookafter everything.” said
Krishna. Accordingly, Daruka rushed towardsHastinapura in a chariot. Krishna
went to the place where Balarama was sittingand said “O brother Balarama!I will
sit in meditation along with you.”

But there was noreply from Balarama. Along serpent came out of the face of
Balarama. Balarama left this mortal body. His soul travelled into the sky
through the sea. As Balarama was theincarnation of Adi Sesha, the Naga
community welcomed back Balarama. Balarama attained Vishnu Lokaand joined
Vishnu. Krishna saw Balarama putting an end to hisincarnation. Krishna thought
that time has come for him to leavethis world and go back to his original abode.

Krishna startedthinking about the ways and means to leave this body. He
remembered the wordsof Rishi Durvasa.Once, as per the wish of saint Durvasa, he
applied Payasam (liquid foodprepared with milk, sugar, and rice) throughout his
body. As his legs wereresting on the ground, he could not apply it to his feet.
Durvasa observed itand said: “Krishna! Youhave not applied Payasam to my foot.
Your death is in your foot.” said SaintDurvasa.

Krishna laid downunder a tree and went into Yoga Samadhi. At that time a hunter
Jara enteredthat forest. That hunter misunderstood the moving foot of Krishna
as a lurkingdeer and shot a lethal arrow that pierced into Krishna’s feet.As
soon as the hunter reached Krishna, he realized his mistake and pleaded theLord
for forgiveness. Lord Krishna consoles him and tells him howhis death was
inevitable.

Krishna saysthat in his previous birth as Rama in the Tretayuga, Rama killed
Vaali(Sugreeva's brother) from behind. So, Krishna has now reaped the price for
thesame through Jara who was king Vaali in his previous birth.

This storybeautifully brings out the very important fact that, even for the
Rulerof the Universe, the laws of Karma remain the same. Hence, Lord
Krishnaleft the mortal world. Thetime from which lord Krishna died is
considered to be the beginning ofKaliyuga.

Daruka, sent by SriKrishna, met Pandavas and informed them about the tragic
deaths. On hearingthis, Pandavas plunged into great grief. After taking
suitableinstructions from Dharmaja, Arjuna reached Dwarka.

Dwarka was supposed to be flooded within seven days ofKrishna’s death; hence,
Arjuna decided to take the leftover people toIndraprastha. Krishna's father
left for heavenlyabode while being in meditation. The wives of Krishna and
Balarama pounced intopyre as Sati. Arjunaperformed the last rites for Krishna
and his kinsman.

All the ladies andchildren started moving towards Indraprastha along with
Arjuna. As the people walked away fromthe Dwaraka city, the city sank into the
sea. On the way, some thievessaw that only one man with a bow accompanied the
ladies. They tried to robthem. Arjuna who was once avery great archer found it
very difficult to even lift his bow. When he triedto invoke his Divya astras,
he forgot all those incantations. The thieveskilled many people and kidnapped
women.

Some of the ladiesfell into the nearby river and gave up their lives. Some
burnt themselvesalive. Arjuna arrived at Hastinapur in a dejected condition.
The Pandavas visited sage Veda Vyasaand narrated the Yadavas destruction,
Krishna's death, and Arjuna’s inabilityto save the Yadava women. The sage
consoled the Pandavas and told them thattheir purpose on the earth is served.
The Pandavas coroneted Parikshit and embarked on their final journeytowards the
Himalayas.

Note: I mentioned the story as per my bestknowledge. Kindly put the suggestion
in comments if you have a different storywith you.

My note- There is a small contradiction. At oneplace it is stated except
Krishna, his chariator, Balarama, all were dead.Another place it is stated
since Dwaraka was immercing, Arjuna left toHasthinapur with left over people.
Probably most were dead instead of all weredead is better description.

Q4           What are some curious facts fromhistory that most people don't
know yet?

A4                   RI Shohag,5h

A very interestingstory happened to Napoleon during his campaign in Egypt. In
Egypt, he discovered thatJosefina was having a very public affair.

He was devastated.Shortly afterwards, he met the beautiful wife of one of his
officers, Pauline Fourès.

She had beensmuggled into Egypt by her husband dressed as a Cavalry Hunter.
When Napoleonsaw Pauline, he knew it was a perfect opportunity for revenge. A
few days aftertheir meeting, the couple struck up a relationship and the army
began callingPauline their Cleopatra.

Napoleon sentPauline's husband, Lieutenant Fourès, back to Paris with
supposedly importantdispatches. The round trip from Egypt to Paris took three
months, which suitedNapoleon perfectly.

Unfortunately for Napoleon, the ship carrying Pauline'shusband was intercepted
by the British the next day.Rather than arrest him, the British sent him back
to Alexandria, hoping to playa trick on Napoleon (they had already intercepted
his mail, and by then theaffair was common knowledge). The husband reappeared
in Cairo ten weeks before he was expected only tofind his wife living with
Napoleon in his palace. A very public andunpleasant scene followed and there
was nothing for Fourès to do butdivorce his wife, whom he had married a few
months before.

Soon Paulina becameNapoleon's official mistress in Cairo, acting as hostess in
his palace and sharinghis carriage. Josephine knew what was going on, but given
her own infidelity, she couldn't complain. When Napoleon left Egypt, Pauline
becameJunot's mistress and later Kleber's mistress. She would eventuallymake
her fortune in a Brazilian logging company and finally settle down in Paris
with her pet monkeysand parrots. She lived to be 90 years old.

Q4           What is the description of HinglajMata Temple?

A4           Surendra Kumar Kumawat,Mar 30

Hinglaj Temple (Nani Temple)

The desert extendsfor 150 km from Lasbela in Pakistan touching the Arabian Sea.
River passingthrough 1000 feet high sandy mountains beside. The world's largest
mud volcanoon the left. Far awayin the midst of the forests there was silence
and the sound of 'Jai Mata Di'coming from the middle of this silence. The only
Shaktipeeth located in Pakistan *'HinglajTemple'*, which is considered to be
the first place of Mother Goddess on earth,is in these paths.

The journey toHinglaj is more difficult than Amarnath ji...

The sins of previous births are also destroyed in thistemple which is about 2
lakh years old. Everythinghappens in this temple from Garba to Kanya Bhoj
during Navratri. The celebration of Navratri inHinglaj temple, one of the *51
Shaktipeeths* of the Goddess, is almost similarto that of India. Sometimes it
becomes difficult to guesswhether this temple is in Pakistan or India. The
placewhere the Hinglaj temple is located is one of the largest Hindu dominated
areasof Pakistan. A fair is held here throughout Navratri within 3 km. Garba
danceis performed by women who come for darshan. Pooja-havan takes place. Girls
are fed. Theechoes of mother's hymns are heard far and wide.

Overall, everyfaith is seen which happens during Navratri Puja in India. In
Navratri, oneearns equal to the expenses of the whole year. The number of
devotees visiting Hinglaj temple can begauged from the fact that in 9 days of
Navratri, the people here earn equal totheir whole year's expenditure. - The
head priest of the templeMaharaj *Shri Gopal Giri ji* says that even during
Navratri, there is nodifference between Hindu-Muslim in thetemple. Many times
the priest-servants are seen wearing Muslim caps. So therethe Muslim brothers
meet standing together during the worship of the MotherGoddess.

Most of these are from Baluchistan-Sindh. There is maximum crowdhere in the
2 Navratras that fall every year. About 10 to 25 thousand devoteescome to
Hinglaj daily to visit Mata. Among these, the countries around America,Britain,
Bangladesh and Pakistan are prominent. - Since, Muslimsconsider Hinglaj temple
as 'Nani Bibi ki Hajj' or Pirgah therefore people fromcountries like
Afghanistan, Egypt and Iran also come to Pirgah.

Hinglaj' became 'Hinglaj' after the head of Shivji wifeMata Sati fell down.
According to Hindu religion, scriptures and Puranas,Sati's father Raja Daksh
was not happy with his daughter's marriage to LordShankar. Angry Daksh had
insulted the daughter a lot. Saddened by this, Sati burnt herself in the
firepit. Seeing this, Shankar's Gana had killed King Daksha. Shankarjireached
Daksh's house as soon as he got the news of the incident. Then liftingSati's
dead body on his shoulders, he started dancing in anger. In order to pacify
Shankarji,Lord Vishnu cut Sati into 51 pieces with his discus. Wherever these
pieces fell, those 51 places are known as Devi Shaktipeeth.

Out of the pieces, the first part of Sati's body i.e. the head fell on 'Kirthar
hill' whichis known as Hinglaj today.Because of this first part i.e. the head,
the Hinglaj Temple of Pakistan is called the firstplace of Mother on earth.

Q5           Did Napoleon visit the Great Pyramid?

A5           Jean-Marie Valheur, lover ofhistory3h

He did, in 1798. Napoleon visitedthe pyramids of Egypt, and even fought a
famous battle there against theOttomans, which he won decisively. The French
Emperor was amazed by the ancient Egyptians, visiting great tombs and even
gazing upon the face of a freshly unearthedpharaoh’s mummy, in pristine
condition.

Prior to battlinghis Turkish adversaries, Napoleon gave a speech to his
soldiers. In it, he saidthe following lines, which echo through eternity:

“Soldiers! You came to this country to savethe inhabitants from barbarism, to
bring civilisation to the Orient andsubtract this beautiful part of the world
from the domination of England. From the top of those pyramids, forty centuries
are contemplating you!”

Forty centuries arecontemplating you… The words of a man well-aware of what
precedes him. Aware ofhow, as historical as his deeds may ultimately become, he
is but a tiny speckof dust in the eye of eternity.

Q7           Can online banking be done fromanother country?

A7           Nikita BhattacharyaHR Specialist2y

Yes of course, the biggest benefit of online banking isthat it can be done
anytime and from anywhere. You can easily do so from any country the only thing
is if you are tranferringamount from your country to any other country or vice
versa their will becharges levied on such transactions which can be on a higher
side.Resteverything remains almost same.

My note- All banks in India have internet banking. But itis very difficult to
keep in memory the login name, password, super word etc. So it is best to keep
internet bankingwith one or two banks  and keep alldetails in a confidential
diary.
