After watching the advertisement aboutMYLO drink among TV serials, I got an interest to write about the furnitureSTOOL. In the advertisement the slightly stout and less height mother asks herson to keep a tin on the upper shelf standing on the stool. The son comes, moves the stool away, standing on thefloor keeps the tin on the upper shelf telling STOOL is for sitting. Content of the advertisement- MYLODrink gives good health and growth and height during the period of growth. This is a time pass posting aboutfurniture item STOOL. 1. Stool is an oldfurniture item. During my boyhood days stool was afurniture item for sitting. It was provided by the side of table, in theveranda, dressing table etc. In tea shops it was provided by the side of tablefor sitting and eating snacks. Before chairs became very common, stool was used95% for sitting. I can recollect in my middle school days, it was used to standand wind wall clocks in homes and offices. After use, it was wiped and kept forusing it for sitting. 2. Standard stools. The normal size stools are used asadditional seats in dining table when persons are more to sit. Present daynormal size stools are made of wood and top finished with mica sheet pasted. 3. Steel stools and stainless steel stools With the appearance steel furniture,stools also started appearing in steel. These sturdy stools were welcomed more,since they could well use for sitting and standing. Probably appearance was lagging,stainless steel stools started appearing mostly with a circular top. Thesestools are widely used in small restaurants, shops etc. 4. Appearance ofplastic stools. Irrespectiveof type of plastic, normalsize stools though sold very much, it is mostly used to keep waterbarrels in homes. Standing on it may break the stool. Sitting for a short whileit is OK. In many homes two stools are made in to one making it sturdier,placing one over the other. 5. Different types ofplastic stools. While steelstools are standard type, plastic stools comes with different sizes andheights. Round type stools with 2 inches height are widelyused by servants to sit on it and clean vessels in extension working area. InChennai, when houses are built provision is given for an extension area afterwork area. Washing stone and Grinding stone are provided here. A small platformto keep washed vessels, a water tap is provided. The flooring is with brokentiles. These arrangements are as per vasthu. Bathroom stools Bathroomstool is very advantageous to elders who cannot sit on floor and take bath.These stools are above 6 inches in height, circular or rectangular in shape.They are sturdy enough to sit and take bath and easy to get up. Only thing they have to be cleaned frequently.Similar stools of better appearance are used to apply oil in feet by elderssitting in sofa etc. Wash room stools. Stoolsspecial type with central hole are provided for use in Indian type toiletscomfortably sitting on stool, as in western style for elders in rented homes where house ownersmay not be interested to provide western type toilet. Special Wooden stools Specialmica toped wooden stools slightly rectangular are provided with dressing table. Aboutfour feet height workingstools are provided for masons painters etc. to stand and work.
