Thanks Sir. Only Valmiki Ramayanam is the real Ramayanam and hence it is one of the two Itihasas, the other being Vyasa's Mahabharatham. I doubt very much whether what Kamban has stated here was what happened as I have not heard or read about Surpanaka's nipple being cut off. Nose yes, but not the nipple. That being the case, blaming and passing harsh judgements are certainly not in order. It is grossly unfair. If one has read only Kamban and not Valmiki, one might arrive at wrong conclusions. So the author may also state wherever it differs from Valmiki's Ramayanam so readers will know Kamban is not stating the truth but has added colour and costumes. There are so many places, where with my limited knowledge, I have written Kamban differs from Valmiki - Not fair to either Valmiki whose original version Kamban tried to translate or to Rama. The author is also a party to that though unwittingly.
