Q1     What are some of the longest runningexperiments ever done?

A1     Jean-Marie Valheur, just an amateur wholoves some science3h

There was some oldwives tale that cracking one’s fingers causes arthritis. Dr.
Donald Ungerwanted to know if this was true, as he strongly suspected it
wasn’t… so forsixty years, he cracked the fingers and knuckles on his left hand
every day.

He never cracked thefingers and knuckles on his right hand even once, for the
duration of thesesixty years. By the time Unger was an old man, the experiment
running to aclose, he had both hands extensively researched. Neither of the
hands had anysigns of arthritis. Both hands were exactly the same. It’s funny
because Iremember my grandmother scolding me as a kid whenever I’d crack my
knuckles, telling me it is “bad for my joints”.

Mr. Unger ended upwinning the Ig Nobel Prize — a prize given out each year for
“unusual ortrivial achievements” in scientific research. Now, thanks to Mr.
Unger, I cancrack my knuckles to my heart’s delight, without fear.

him

“Mumma, that Uncle was very old and nobody wasbuying anything from him. So, I
bought all and it’s Diwali tomorrow, it willgive him some money to celebrate”
He said smiling holding her hands which werebusy in taking out the things from
the packet.

“Okay! But you could have given him some moneyinstead. What will I do with
these Brinjals?” She said looking at him.

“If he wanted money for free then why would hesell vegetables? I didn’t want
to make him feel pity for himself” he said and Icould see the changing
expression of my mom’s face from anger to love.

She didn’t sayanything but I know she was proud of her Son.

“Well done bro! Finally you proved you toohave some sense” I said patting hard
(hit hard to be honest :D) on his back andour dog fight began :D

Well, that was verysmall thing and didn’t cost much to him but I smiled just
imagining the smileof that man.

And yes! It gave meone more reason to love my bro even more.

Q4     What are some things every Indian shouldknow about Indian history?

A4     Ankit Kumar Singhan IT professional, trapped in a concrete jungle.1y

Today, Sri Lanka isalmost bankrupt; however, did you know that India was once
in a worse statethan Sri Lanka is now?

India had a closedeconomy in the 1990s. The government owned the majority of
the companies inIndia, and foreign direct investment was restricted. Policies
of previouscongress government was weakening indian economy day by day.

Oil prices were atan all-time high in August 1990 as a result of the Gulf War.

Non-resident Indianswere unable to send money to their loved ones in India.

As a result, India'sforex reserves were reduced to 600 million dollars.

Indian reserves wereonly enough to keep the country running for a few weeks.

Then came ManmohanSingh, India's finance minister at the time who took some
unpopular butcritical decision.

He immediatelyobtained a 2.2 billion dollar loan from the IMF and sold 600
million dollars ofIndia's gold to international banks. To make Indian exports
more competitive hedevalued Indian rupee by 20%. He also took some long term
step. He brought newIndustrial Policy and opened Indian market for foreign
investors.

He Ended hisParliament Speech for the budget session with the statement :

“No power can now stop the growth of India”.

The foundations foran economic powerhouse was already laid.

By 2009, India hadbeen able to repurchase the gold it had sold in 1990, as well
as absorb theshocks of US sanctions against India in 1998, the Kargil war in
1999, and the2009 global economic crisis.

In the decades thatfollowed India was one of the fastest growing economy in the
world giving toughcompetition to china.

Peace.

Q5     What are some facts about pyramids?

A5     Inshal, Writer at Quora (company)(2017–present)23h

More mind-blowingfacts about the world's most enigmatic structures:

1. They are alignedto the true north with incredible accuracy. The Great
Pyramid is just 3.4arcminutes off perfect alignment or precision of ~1
millimeter per meter of thelength of its base.

2. The Great Pyramidwas the tallest building in the world for around 3,800
years until it wassurpassed by Lincoln Cathedral in the 14th century.

3. They do notcontain any hieroglyphs or paintings, nor were any burial
treasures or mummiesfound within. By contrast, the tombs at the Valley of the
Kings are decoratedwith intricate hieroglyphic texts and artworks from floor to
ceiling.

4. They were oncecovered in gleaming white limestone casing stones (as
pictured). Someresearchers also think the capstones at the top were plated with
preciousmetals.

5. ~2.3 millionstone blocks make up the Great Pyramid, averaging 2.5 tons in
weight. Quarryingthese with little else than copper saws, chisels, and pounding
stones, thentransporting and lifting them into place, is the most remarkable
engineeringfeat ever accomplished.

6. The casing stonesand inner chamber blocks of the Great Pyramid were fitted
together with suchhigh precision that a knife's edge could not fit between them.

7. The Great Pyramidweighs nearly 6 million tons in total. Today, the only
structures exceedingthis are the Great Wall of China and the Three Gorges Dam.

8. When Napoleonvisited the Great Pyramid in the late 18th century, he
correctly calculatedthat it contained enough material for a 10-foot-high wall
around the entireperimeter of mainland France.

9. Of the thousandsof hieroglyphs found across Egypt, none of them mention how
the pyramids werebuilt or how the Egyptians cut stone. There are very few
ancient Egyptian textsthat mention the pyramids at all.
