On Money:

Q1 What is the differencebetween life insurance and term insurance?
A1 HDFCLife, One of India's leading life insurance companies. Nov 21
A life insurance plan is an important part of yourportfolio diversification.
Thereare two types of life insurance plans, namely term life insurance and
wholelife insurance. Many often confuse one for another as both providebenefits
in case of the policyholder's demise. However, both options vary interms of the
policy tenure, cash value, and premium amount, among others.
About term insurance
As the namesuggests, term insurance refers to the payment of premium for a
fixed period of time. In case of the policyholder'suntimely death during this
period, the insurance provider is liable to pay thedeath benefit amount to the
beneficiary or the nominee. In case thepolicyholder survives during the term of
the plan, ***no maturity benefit is provided.
My note- ***Maturity benefit is given to the policyholder by LIC of India to
the sumassured with bonus accrued
Understandingwhole life insurance
Whole lifeinsurance plans offer dual benefits of investment and protection for
the entirelife of the insured. Whole life insurance plans generally come with
an upper age limit of100 years. Such a plan also offers the advantage of cash
accumulation that builds during the entireperiod of the policy.
Term insurance or whole life insurance: Making theright choice
Both term insurance plans and whole life insurancepolicies have their set of
features and benefits. Individuals may make theright choice between the two
life insurance options by comparing the benefitsand choosing the one that is
best-suited to their needs.
Following arethree major distinguishing aspects of term insurance and whole
life insurance.
1.Premium
Term insurance plans often have a lower premium thanwhole life plans. It is
also important to know that in a term plan, the entirepremium amount is
allocated to providing insurance coverage.
The same is notthe case with whole life plans. Part of the premium is used for
insurance coverage whilethe rest is invested. In casethe policyholder
withdraws, surrenders or lives up to the maturity period, theaccumulated amount
is returned at the sum assured value. Policyholdersmay also enjoy the benefit
of bonus in case profits are earned on the investedamount.
2.Tenure
By its nature, term plans offer coverage for a fixedtenure, such as 5, 10, 15,
or 30 years. Whole life insurance plans, however, come with flexible tenures and
are usually applicable till the policyholderreaches 100 years of age.
3.Cash value
As opposed to term plans, a part of whole lifeinsurance premiums is invested in
financial instruments. A cash value is,therefore, built over a period of time.
This may be used by the policyholder toborrow loans at a low interest rate.
Term plans, however, do not offer such abenefit. Additionally, whole life
insurance policyholders may withdraw a partof the cash value during the tenure
of the policy.
Individuals may, therefore, take into consideration the aforementioned features
and benefitswhile deciding between the two life insurance options. The best way
to make theright choice is by keeping two important aspects in mind, the age
and thepurpose of buying the insurance policy. Individuals may opt for a term
plan if they are in theyounger age bracket, andmay consider converting it into
a whole life plan later in life. However, individuals in the olderage group,
such as 40 years and above may consider availing of a whole lifeinsurance plan.
Such an option offers coverage for the entire life andis also cost-effective as
term plans levy a higher premium for olderindividuals.
Individuals may, therefore, opt for the right planbased on their age, financial
situation, and the purpose of the insurance plan.
My note- I have added this QA for the term plan difference– Maturity amount and
bonus are paid byLIC, but nothing ispaid by HDFC.

Q3 When did you realize smallthings matter?
A3 HajiAbdessalam, Updated 4y
Once, when I was sitting in my physics exam, therewas this girl who was an
assistant in the exam room. She watched and kept eyeson us so that nobody could
cheat. She also organized all the stuff that wasrelated to the exam.
She came to meand asked me for an extra pen, so I gave one to her, and I put my
head back tomy test. I keptwriting and I didn't raise my head till the time was
over.
I got up from my seat and gave them my papers andthey asked me to sign; I did.
Everything was normal; I got out and met myfriends. We started walking and
talking. We probably walked an hour away from the university.
And…
Suddenly, I saw acar coming directly towards us, and the driver was a girl. She
stopped in frontof us dramatically with the sounds of breaks screeching and
smoke everywhere.
She came out of the car. I saw that she held my penin her hands.
It was her; the assistant girl from the exam room! What blows me awayis that
she did all that to bring my cheap pen back to me!
I mean it wasn't even easy to find us after we walkedso far, and I'm sure she
had more important things to handle there in theuniversity than to go out and
look for me!
I always thoughtthose kinds of people no longer existed, but they do exist and
they are sobeautiful and pure.
***Sorry for my English, but if you get the story in general, that's morethan
enough for me because I'm glad to share it.
My note- This culture and decency I appreciate very much, but lags with few.
Q4 Can you give me someexamples of short philosophy quotes?

Q5 Was the Earth born from theSun or did it come from another star?
A5 CELESTIAL.,have read and watched quite no.of articles and
documentaries2h
The Earth didnot originate from the Sun or any other star. Itsformation is
instead linked to the existence of a vast cloud of gas and dustknown as a
protoplanetary disk.
Within this disk, gravity caused tiny dust particles to clump together, forming
small, rockyobjects called planetesimals.
Over millions ofyears, these planetesimals collided and merged, progressively
forming largerbodies called protoplanets.
Through numerous collisions and mergers, theseprotoplanets eventually coalesced
into the planets we see today, includingEarth. The Sunitself formed at the
center of this protoplanetary disk, acting as agravitational force that
dictated the movement of the surrounding material. Theremaining matter,
including the building blocks of Earth, orbited the Sun andultimately formed
our planet.
Therefore,Earth's origin lies not in the direct creation of the Sun or another
star, butrather in the complex and fascinating process of protoplanetary disk
evolution.
