SRIRAMAJAYAM’S ADVICE TO EMPLOYEES
I DON’T KNOW IT IS RIGHT OR WRONG AS SOME REFLECTS SWERVING WITH
DISHONESTY AND WITHOUT MORAL APTITUDES, THOUGH GENERALLY IS/ARE WELCOME.
1. Build a home earlier. Be it a rural home or an urban home. Building a
house at 50 is not an achievement. Don't get used to government houses.
This comfort is so dangerous. Let all your family have a good time in your
house.
KR One who is permanently is going to reside at one spot may choose
his own residence. On the contrary, you build or buy calculating
instalments and deductions on loans, home in the place of your station at
present or home town etc, then 1 only tenants will stay for 30 years and
when you take over it will be a dilapidated construction , not of your
dreams to reside; or 2 Your wife and children alone will be staying their
if unemployed wife is there while you will be a visitor often , as an
unknown building to you or 3 only your relations will be (including your
parent) residing there and may see some worn out after years od service,
or 4 may sell that out and but some new elsewhere at 60 to reside. So,
buying will be only an investment. Hence buying home or constructing home
depends on the intensive ideas of the individuals.
2. Go home. Don't stick at work all the year. You are not the pillar of
your department. If you drop dead today, you will be replaced immediately
and operations will continue. Make your family a priority.
KR I beg to differ. Because partly it is correct; nothing runs on our
head; if so, why PM shall work for 18 hrs? And when he works, the feeders
must contribute more; even in Public and Private sectors, similar
situations do prevail. My view is never postponing anything which needs
your attention on time; and also, never seek your colleague and sub
ordinates to do your work and you escape telling the above words. What will
you do in your own establishments, you have to work for your salt.
3. Don't chase promotions. Master your skills and be excellent at what you
do. If they want to promote you, that's fine if they don’t, stay positive
to your personal development.
KR May be partly true. However, your advise is good in Kritha treta
yugas. Merit yes; but keep watching quota and political influencers
overtaking you. May be -NO CROW CATCHING. I don’t understand personal
development; corruption? own business; business in wife’s name? No one can
work as LDC all huis 30 years.
5. Don't ever compete with your bosses. You will burn your fingers. Don't
compete with your colleagues, you will fry your brain.
KR Again competing with boss is healthy; controversial competence on
difference in perceptions is also OK. After all, only in a private sector
one can be hired and fired. In Govt and even in PSU, the bosses may not add
one rupee extra nor deduct one rupee. No one will come to your rescue. So,
you have to travel along or disagree or agree as the situation and the
consequences are awaiting.
6. Ensure you have a side business. Your salary will not sustain your
needs in the long run.
KR Except small private ltd, earning while in service other than is
also a corruption. And then para 2,3 4 etc is only about lazybums. This is
treachery and non-dharmic. If you think you want more money resign and do
whatever you want.
8. Borrow a loan to invest in a business or to change a situation not to
buy luxury. Buy luxury from your profit.
KR It is not universal statement and may hardly apply only to a small
percentile.
9. Keep your life, marriage, and family private. Let them stay away from
your work. This is very important.
KR Again doubtful; in many circles it will be known; may be all need
not know but there will be a circle; hiding is doing clandestinely for
personal progress.
10. Be loyal to yourself and believe in your work. Hanging around your boss
will alienate you from your colleagues and your boss may finally dump you
when he leaves.
KR Early concept above differ from here; Togetherness with Boss is not
for crow catching; it is the necessity or spotted in bright light. Your
colleague may be your enemy too.
11. Retire early. The best way to plan for your exit was when you received
the employment letter. The other best time is today. By 40 to 50 be out.
KR Thought and action may not sync. Savings and expenditures are
planned; but GOD may think differently.
12. Join work welfare and be an active member always. It will help you a
lot when any eventuality occurs.
KR May be western thoughts all these advises and not of an Indian.
Union may not at any point of time can elevate you; it is a post of respect
as management respects; but exploitations will see one off too.
14. Start a project whilst still serving or working. Let your project run
whilst at work and if it doesn't do well, start another one till it's
running viably. When your project is viably running then retire to manage
your business. Most people or pensioners fail in life because they retire
to start a project instead of retiring to run a project.
KR West oriented; in India impossible.
15. Pension money is not for starting a project buying a stand or building
a house but it's money for your upkeep or to maintain yourself in good
health. Pension money is not for paying school fees or marrying a young
wife but for looking after yourself.
KR True but survival is the root cause.
16. Always remember, when you retire never be a case study for living a
miserable life after retirement but be a role model for colleagues to think
of retiring too.
KR Again depends as to who were you then?
17. Don't retire just because you are finished or you are now a burden to
the company and just wait for your day to die. Retire young or energetic to
enjoy waking up for a cup of coffee, enjoying the sun, receiving money from
your business, visiting nice places that you missed, and spending a good
time with family. Those who retire late, spend about 95% of their time at
work than with their family and that's why they see it difficult to spend
time with their family when they retire but end up looking for another job
till they die. If they don't get another job, they die early.
KR Contrast against 11. Retirement is constitutional in India Unlike In
USA, Some parts of UK and Aus and Norway Sweden etc.
18. Retire at your house than at government accommodation so that when you
retire you can easily fit into the society that raised you. It's not easy
to adjust to living in a location after spending more years at a company
house or at a government house.
KR I don’t understand ; if you are Governor of RBI at Mumbai how can you
enforce transfer to Chennai because you have a home?
19. Never let your employment benefits make you forget about your
retirement. Employment benefits are just meant to make you relax, and get
finished whilst time is moving. Remember when you retire no one will call
your boss if you don't have a viable business.
KR What were you called when you were WITHOUT, is getting repeated
WITH MONEY. So make others care for you.
20. Don't hate to retire because one day you will retire either voluntarily
or involuntarily.
KT No one can decide when to retire when the inability takes over. In
sone nations there are no retirements decided by Govt.

Your observation may be right Sir to the post retirement persons put in
situations described by you.
The contents are applicable to those who fit in the conditions described
therein.
A retiree taking up post retirement assignment may deal the situation
subject to the ground conditions/ realities.
For most of the readers the contents are of academic interest only,it is
felt!
