Dear all
Yesterday I saw out of 3 parts , part 1 of "100 years blue source", in
Netflix OTT; Dan an American wants to know why 5 islands people all over
the world, people live 100 years plus as a research work. And the first
episode speaks about an island now owned by Japan as transferred from the
USA, as a WWII base once, where 100 years old are all over. It is quite
interesting And after seeing Island Sardine let me write about it. Now
about OKINAWA:
Okinawa Island was the site of one of the bloodiest campaigns in the
Pacific theatre during World War II. In April 1945 U.S. troops made an
amphibious landing on Okinawa, which was heavily defended by the
Japanese. Since
the islands are located at the eastern perimeter of the East China Sea
relatively close to Japan, China and Southeast Asia, the Ryukyu Kingdom
became a prosperous trading nation. Apprehensive of western interest, Japan
tightened its grip by sending a military detachment in 1868. Weary of
Okinawan objections to its military forces, Japan abolished the royal
government in 1879 and annexed Okinawa as a prefecture. Compared to other
cities in Japan, the cost of living in Okinawa is relatively affordable.
The cost of housing, transportation, and food is lower than in cities like
Tokyo and Osaka, making it an attractive option for those looking to live
in Japan on a budget. Money & currency in Okinawa. The Japanese yen is the
currency used in Okinawa. In recent years a growing number of currency
exchange centers have opened in central Okinawa, particularly in Chatan and
Okinawa City, where major U.S. bases are located. Today, most Okinawans
speak Okinawan Japanese, although a number of people still speak the
Okinawan language, most often the elderly. KR IRS 3 1 24
