Dear all Sekar friend's experience is genuine. The minus problem living in USA is Hospital, Medicine and appointment and entry through emergency and then hospital and most of all, Kaiser-Permanente like will not consider Indian Insurances, even if it is STAR health or TATA-AIG,(partner is american ins co) and so your relations must pay and you may have to claim in India , in Rupees, only as reimbursements. There is one MEDI-CARE in the USA and to adopt that by your relations, you must lie that YOU ARE SO POOR AND YOU DON'T HAVE ANY BANK AC OR ENOUGH BALANCE. All manuals provided by the insurer that by dialling 1 800 to Delhi, immediately some one will rush and make the payment on the spot are bogus. If you take Insurance from the USA, your son or daughter will bleed over the premium. After all the formalities, final settlement will be funny, by normal standard deduction and disallowables almost all, (which you may have to fight) are taken off, and say out of 21000 5695 is given to you (simple surprises like that and not exactly). But for respiratory problems, once, Kaiser gave that puffing machine and purchase of medicine through The Wall Mart; and prescription will not be given to you; it will be sent to your nearby (residence) Mall cum Medical shop. And on one occasion, One big hospital, in C A , debited my expenses of Indian Rs 25000 as free of cost , collecting the amount from USA charities, connected to them; my son offered but they refused; and I felt so ashamed; after returning back to India, as my star health reimbursed it fully on the basis of papers I brought as signed by the hospital doctors and discharge summary, I took a draft from SBI and posted it to that hospital, worth a covering letter; alas; USA customs, did not allow the letter sent through FedEx, then $20 ; there were a lot of calls across to customs of USA from myself and my daughter in law, but in vain; the funniest part of it was the cover was not sent back also(may be I might have paid another $20) . After 3 months as the draft payment was not made, SBI on my letter credited it back to my account. Every year I come back to India for 2 or 3 months, only to carry the medicines for the year. Indian doctors are there; but their consultation charges are high; and governed by the insurance and USA regulations. In spite of all these things, through Indian doctors' incognito help, and people who are regularly travel -across, bringing our medicines-help, some thing can be done. Thank you KR IRS 10124
