Q4         What is a cool story about RichardFeynman?

A4          Daniyar,Updated Oct 9

One day, while teaching a class at the California Institute of Technology
(Caltech), Feynman decided to have some funwith his students.

He walkedinto the lecture hall wearing a big, goofy hat adorned with feathers
andcarrying a bag full of props. The students, accustomed to
Feynman'seccentricities, were both curious and amused by his appearance.

Without saying a word, Feynman pulled out a rubberchicken from his bag and held
it up foreveryone to see. He thenproceeded to give an entire lecture on quantum
electrodynamics using therubber chicken as his visual aid. He waved the chicken
around, making exaggerated gestures and using it todemonstrate various
scientific principles.

As Feynmanpassionately explained complex quantum concepts with the rubber
chicken, the students couldn't help butburst into laughter. The combination of
Feynman's undeniable brillianceand his whimsical teaching style made for a
hilarious and unforgettableexperience.

Despitethe absurdity of the situation, Feynman managed to convey the intricate
detailsof quantum electrodynamics through his unorthodox methods. He used the
rubber chicken as a metaphor, comparing itselasticity to the behavior of
subatomic particles, all while keeping hisstudents engaged and entertained.

Q5         Why did the Britishers choose to ruleIndia from Delhi?

A5          Ratnakar Sadasyula, My countryIndia,Oct 27

Lord Hardinge was the Viceroy of India when thecapital was transferred from
Kolkata to Delhiin 1911. Apparently his explanation was that Kolkata being in
the extreme eastern end, was notsuitable to be capital, while Delhi had a
better location.

The real reason though, was the Partition ofBengal in 1905, ostensibly for
administrativereasons, and the massive backlash it received. The partition
announced by LordCurzon, then viceroy, separated the Muslim dominated eastern
Bengal from theHindu dominated western part.

The decisionhowever was protested strongly by the middle class in Bengal, who
saw this as a tactic to lessen their authority. The protests that
initiallystarted only in Bengal, began to receive the support of other
nationalists inMaharashtra, Punjab and North India, and also saw the extremist
section inCongress gaining popularity over the moderates, who still believed
innegotiations with the British.

While theMuslim leaders were initially against the proposal, feeling that East
Bengal’sinterests would not be served well under a central comissioner, Curzon
reached out to them, statingtheir interests would be better served, and also
promised to make Dhaka as thecapital.

This led to most Muslim leaders supporting the partition, though therewere
some like Khwaja Atiqullah who opposed it. Basically with alleducational,
commercial activity centered around Kolkata, the Eastern part had remained
backward from long, as the Muslimleaders felt an independent Eastern Bengal
would be better off.

The hugeprotests in Western part of Bengal, and the rise of the revolutionary
movementaround that time, as well as the vocal opposition of Tilak, Aurobindo
saw theBritish reverting the decision, as both parts of Bengal again became
one, whileAssam, Bihar and Odisha were separated. And above all, realizing
thatKolkata was too volatile now, with the revolutionary movemet gaining
traction, they found Delhi to be a much safer base, which led to the shifting of
thecapital.

Q6         Is it a myth that Muslim rulers inIndia destroyed thousands of
temples?

A6          MuhammadAamir Khokhar,Avid reader of Indo-Pak History5y

If you have readAncient Indian history, you will agree that its no myth but
reality that someMuslim rulers in India destroyed Hindu temples and built
Mosques over it.

This is Qutb Minar and Quwwatul Islam Masjid, animportant tourist site in
Delhi. Some people may not know that it was built over 20–27 Hindu Temples.

This is SomnathTemple of Gujarat. It was destroyed 17 times by Mehmood Gaznavi.
It wasreconstructed in May 1951.

This is Shri Krishna Janam Bhumi Mandir (Temple ofbirthplace of Lord Krishna).
It was destroyed during Aurangzeb’s era and Eidgahwas build over it. It was
reconstructed after Independence of India in 1947.

This is Gyanvapi Mosque which was built afterdestruction of Kashi Vishvanath
Temple in Varansi by Aurangzeb.Kashi Temple is considered as one of the most
important Shiva temple inHinduism. Remains of Kashi Temple can be found
alongwith GyanvapiMosque (in mud color).

This is old picture of Babri Masjid which wasdestroyed by radical Hindus on Dec
06, 1992. It isbeing said that it was built after destruction of Ram Mandir
during Babar’srule. Construction of Ram Mandir in India at the moment is one of
the hottestpolitical topic.

My note- New temple consecrated on 22-1-2024

These aresome examples and I know there will be plenty of places where Hindu
templeswere destroyed. We need toacknowledge this harsh reality whatever did by
some Muslim rulers cannot bejustified in any way.

My Muslimbrothers just consider it for a while what would have been our
emotions andreactions if these incidents were happened with us instead of
Hindus?.

Just assumeif any Hindu ruler had demolished number of mosques and constructed
templesover it??.

I don't want to create any bad blood betweenMuslims and Hindus but we need to
have rational approach over it.No one should feel proud or happy over
destruction of any religious place nomatter if it belong to any religion in the
world. We Muslims still feel the pain over destruction of BabriMasjid but look
at those countless number of Hindu temples destroyed by someMuslim rulers and
we need to understand their emotions as well.

These sitesI listed above have significance in Hinduism so it is very hard for
commonHindu to forget everything in a while. This is one of the reason you will
seemany Hindus maintain strong views about Muslim rulers on the basis of
it.Situation gets critical when some Muslims feel proud on such incidents
anddefend the atrocities of some Muslim rulers I mentioned above.

We cannot undo the history however we can reconcileour behaviors. Muslims and
Hindus need tostop fighting with each other on incidents happened in past. We
need toacknowledge our mistakes and shake hands for better future of
subcontinent.
