Q1         Is “Sri Lanka” the “Lanka” of the Ramayana?

A1          HiteshMohan, Rama Bhakta 1y

No Sri Lanka is not the Lanka ofRamayana. Many peopleare often getting confused
that Sri Lanka is the Ravana Lanka mentioned inRamayana. Even I believed it for
many years but afterreading the Valmiki Ramayana it will be concluded that
Ravana Lanka is not whatis called Sri Lanka today.

Many people are thinking andconfidently stating that Ravana Lanka is in fact
present day Sri Lanka, situated south-east of India. However, the narration
given by the SageValmiki in Sundara Kanda of Ramayana gives a different picture
about thelocation of Ravana Lanka.

Here it is,

According to Valmiki Ramayana thedistance between the land from where Sri
Hanuman flew towards Lanka of Ravana was100 Yojanas,ie., nearly 1200 Kms. In
Sanskrit language 1 yojana = 12.3Kms,hence 100 Yojanas = 1200 Km approximately
whereas the distance b/wIndia & present day Sri Lanka is only 35 Km.

Hence according to Valmiki Ramayana,Shri Hanuman flew 1200 Kms i.e 100 Yojanas

As per the Ocean God's assurance toSri Rama, the Rama Setu got constructed by
Sri Rama would collapse after the toand fro journey of Sri Rama and his army
towards Lanka.

"O, Rama! I shall make it possible to see that you are able tocross over. I
will arrange a place for the monkeys to cross me and bear withit. As far as the
army crosses me, the crocodiles will not be aggressive tothem."

   अयम् सौम्य नलो नाम तनुजो विश्व कर्मणः | पित्रा दत्त वरः श्रीमान् प्रतिमो
विश्व कर्मणः || २-२२-४४

"O, excellent man! This one, named Nala, a glorious person, is theson of
Vishvakarma; who was given a boon by his father and is equal toVisvakarma."

   एष सेतुम् महाउत्साहः करोतु मयि वानरः | तम् अहम् धारयिष्यामि तथा हि एष यथा
पिता || २-२२-४५

"Let this greatly energetic monkey build a bridge across me. I canhold that
bridge. He is just the same as his father."

So the Rama Setu got constructed bySri Rama would be in place, as long as He
and his army pass over it, ie., itwill remain intact for their to and fro
journeys. There after it will collapse.

Sri Rama performed the return journeyby Pushpaka Vimana along with Vanaras and
hence the bridge was collapsedimmediately thereafter.

According to the boon given by SriRama to Vibhishana, Vibhishana will rule the
Ravana Lanka upto the end of KaliYuga but we don’t see Vibhishana in present
day Sri Lanka. Valmiki Ramayanastates, after the completion of Rama avatar on
the Earth, Vibhishanashifted the Ravana Lanka to an invisible dimension on the
Earth. Hence ,people in Kali Yuga will not see it & will not be having access
to RavanaLanka.

Summingup all points

The distance b/w Rameshwaram toRavana Lanka is 1200 Km approximately , hence
the actual place of Ravana Lankawould be somewhere in the middle of the Indian
Ocean marked below

The length of Rama Setu is approx is1200 Km long and it’s width is approx 120
km as per Valmiki Ramayana

After the completion of war, the RamaSetu was collapsed by the Samudra Deva
(Ocean God). Rama along with Sita &Vanaras returned to Ayodhya on Pushpaka
Vimana.

That’s it.

Now you may ask what about thepresent day Sri Lanka?

Sri Lanka was called Sinhala Dweepaupto 1960s by it’s native people which means
an Island. In1960 the Sinhalese people renamed their country to Sri Lanka but
it doesn’t mean SriLanka is the Ravana Lanka mentioned in Ramayana because
according to Ramayana,Vibhishana is one of the sapta chiranjeevi & he will rule
the Lanka tillthe end of Kali Yuga. But currently Sri Lanka is not under the
ruling ofVibhishana.

After the end of Rama’s avatar,Vibhishana shifted Ravana Lanka to an invisible
dimesnion , people in Kali Yugacan’t access that dimesnion on Earth. So Sri
Lanka is not the Ramayana’s Lanka.

What about the formation b/wIndia & Sri Lanka? Isn’t it Rama Setu?

According to Valmiki Maharshi, thelength of Rama Setu is 100 yojanas, which is
apporximately 1200 kms length andit’s width is 120 Km. So, the present day
formation b/w India& Sri Lanka could be a part of 1200 Km long Rama Setu.

Finally the Rama Setu & actuallocation of Ravana Lanka should be something like
this

The geography of Earth duringRamayana period should be something like this 👇👇

Vrishabha Parvata mentioned inRamayana is today’s Antarcitica.

Q2         What is the funniest joke you have ever heard?

A2         EliotDemers, Demers Fine Woodworking Sun

One of the funniest jokes I've everheard is the classic "elephant joke." So,
there's this guy who walks into a bar with a tinyelephant on a leash. The
bartender looks at him and says, "Heybuddy, you can't bring that elephant in
here!"

The guy says, "Don't worry, thisis a really well-trained elephant. He's not
going to cause any trouble."

The bartender reluctantly agrees tolet them stay, but warns the guy that if the
elephant makes a mess or causesany problems, they're out.

The guy and the elephant take a seatat the bar, and the guy orders a drink.
After a few minutes, the peanuts arrive, and the elephantpromptly grabs them
with his trunk and gobbles them down.

The bartender is fuming, "Hey!That elephant just ate all the peanuts!"

The guy calmly replies, "Noproblem, I've got this." He reaches into his pocket,
pulls out a $10 bill, and placesit on the bar.

The bartender is stunned. "Wait, you're just going to pay for the peanuts?"

The guy nods, "Of course. Ialways pay for what my elephant eats."

The bartender is still a bit miffed, but he accepts the money and goes back to
work.

A little while later, the guy ordersanother drink, and this time the bowl of
pretzels comes out. Sure enough, theelephant swiftly scoops up the pretzels
with his trunk and devours them.

The bartender is livid. "Hey! Heate all the pretzels!"

The guy reaches into his pocket, pulls out another $10 bill, andplaces it on
the bar.

The bartender can't believe it."You're just going to pay for the pretzels too?"

The guy nods, "Of course, Ialways pay for what my elephant eats."

The bartender shakes his head indisbelief, but he takes the money and goes
about his business.

A little while later, the guy ordersone last drink, and this time a huge bowl
of mixed nuts comes out. The elephant eagerlyreaches his trunk into the bowl
and starts gobbling them up.

The bartender is beside himself. "Hey! Stop! That's toomuch!"

But before he can say anything else, the elephant farts loudly and sends a
cloud of dust and peanut shellsflying everywhere, coating the entire bar.

The bartender is coughing and wavingthe dust away, furious. "GET OUT! GET THAT
ELEPHANT OUT OF HERE!"

The guy calmly reaches into hispocket, pulls out a $20 bill, and places it on
the bar.

The bartender is dumbfounded."Do you really think $20 is going to cover all
this damage?"

The guy shakes his head, "No, that's not for the damage. That's for the
elephant fart."

Q3         What are some mind blowing facts about lions?

A3         RajkumarSindal,M.Sc. in Zoology & Animal Behavior, Education
(Graduated 2020)10h

Lions, majestic apex predators, encompass a plethora of mind-blowing attributes.
First and foremost, their social structure sets themapart – living in prides,
lions establish intricate bonds that aid inhunting and territorial defense. A
notable feature is the lion's resonant roar, audible up to 8 kilometers away,
facilitating communication within the pride.

Contrary to common perception, lionesses typically do themajority of hunting,
employing strategic teamwork to take down prey.Astonishingly, lions exhibit
remarkable strength, capable of dragging carcassesheavier than themselves into
trees, safeguarding their meal from scavengers.

The distinctive manes of male lions are not merely ornamental;they signify
maturity and dominance, with darker manes linked to heightenedtestosterone
levels. Beyond appearances, a lion's tongue is equipped with tiny, sharp
papillae, aiding in grooming and efficiently stripping meat from bones.

Their agility is often underestimated, as lions can achieve speeds up to50 mph
in short bursts, showcasing their prowess as both stealthy huntersand
formidable predators. Furthermore, lions boast exceptional night
vision, enhancing their hunting capabilities during low-light conditions.

Intriguingly, lions can endure extended periods without water, derivingmoisture
from their prey. Their territorial markings, achieved through scentmarking and
roaring, establish and defend their domain. Additionally, lionsshowcase
maternal care, with lionesses collectively nursing and safeguardingcubs.

Adaptable survivors, lions have mastered the art of conserving
energy, alternating between periods of intense activity and rest. This
amalgamation offacts underscores the multifaceted nature of lions, making them
captivatingsubjects in the realm of wildlife biology and conservation.

Q4         What's the smartest thing you've ever seen someone do?

A4         MaverickImran, A proud Indian 6y

Witha simple Hack, these Meerut students saved 100 litres of milk from
gettingwasted on Shivratri.

As reported by TOI, Karan Goel, 24year old youth from Meerut has come up with a
system that has helped preventwastage of milk on Shivratri.

Karan along with his friends deviseda mechanism and then managed to convince
the priest at Bileshwar Nath temple in Meerut to set up thesystem in the
premises on Shivratri.

Karan talked to TOI about theapparatus developed by them,

Devoteespour milk on the kalash which is placed right above the shivling. We
made two holes in the kalash — one on its base and the other one ata certain
height. Thekalash had a capacity of seven litres. So we devised a system which
ensuredthat after one litre ofmilk trickled down on the shivling, the remaining
six litres flowed into a container through the pipe attached to thesecond hole.

The apparatus was set up on a tripodstand on the shivling and thedevotees were
given pamphlets to make them aware of this initiative.

Thegroup was successful in saving more than 100 litres of milk on the day
ofShivratri. The milk was then donated to the needychildren and the orphans.

The apparatus has been handed over tothe temple authorities. Every Monday, a
portion of milk offeredby the devotees will be sent to underprivileged
children. Smartest thing everdone.KEEP EVOLVING AND BEING BETTER..
