sa sasädh-vasa-sänandam, govinde lola-locanä | sinjäna-manju-manjiram, praviveshä niveshanam || Rädhä’s was in total bliss as she glanced at Govinda with her restless eyes. Her jewelled ankle-bells tinkled alluringly as she began to enter His retreat. ” radha-vadana-vilokana-vikasita-vividha-vikara-vibhagam | jala-nidhi miva vadhu-mandala-darshana-taralita-thunga-taragam ||1|| All His emotions crested when He saw Radha’s face, like the sea waves cresting when full moon appears. harim eka-rasam ciram abhilashita-vilasam | sa dadarsa guru-harsha-vasam vada-vadana managa-vikasam || dhruvapadam|| Hari blooms with jubilation on beholding her face, just as the ocean becomes turbulent with high waves upon seeing the orb of the full moon. hara mamalatara-tara murasi dadhatam parilambya viduram | sphuatara-phena-kadamba-karambitam iva yamuna-jala-puram ||2|| Hari toyed with necklace of bright pearls, adorning His vast chest. It looked like river Yamuna churning shining swells of foam. syamala-mrudula-kalevara-mandalam adhigata-gaura-dukulam | nila-nalina miva pita-paraga patala-bhara-valayita-mulam ||3|| Hari has worn Pitambhara on His soft and lustrous body. It seems as if a blue lotus flower has become drenched by its anther of golden pollen. tarala-dhrug-añcala-chalana-manohara vadana-janita-rati-ragam | sphua-kamalodara-khelita-khañjana yugam iva saradi tatakam ||4|| Krishna’s enchanting face is beautiful as a fully blossomed blue lotus flower in the pure water of a lake during autumn. The expressive sidelong glances of His restless eyes, which appear to be the sporting of a kanjana (golden) bird upon a lotus, are inflaming Rädhä’s emotions. vadana-kamala-parishilana-milita mihira-sama-kundala-shobham | smita-ruci-rucira-samulla-sita-adhara-pallava-kruta-rati-lobham ||5|| The beauty of Krishna’s jewelled ear ornaments is carassing the beauty of His lotus face. His sweet lips red as the morning sun, shining with the lustre of His radiant smile, His quivering flower-bud lips are arousing Rädhä’s emotions. shashi-kirana-cchuritodara-jaladhara-sundara-kusuma-sukesam | timirodita-vidhu-mandala-nirmala malayaja-tilaka-nivesam ||6|| Flowers tangled in His locks of hair, looks loke moonbeam caught in cloud breaks. The splendour of the sandalwood paste tilaka on his forehead looks like moon rising to eliminate darkness. vipula-pulaka-bhara-danturitam rati-keli-kalabhiradhiram | mani-gana-kirana-samuha-samujjvala-bhushana-subhaga-shariram ||7|| The brilliance of His jewels adorning His splendid form, has assumed an exceedingly captivating aura. And Krishna responds to Radha’s loving glances. sri-jayadeva-bhanita-vibhava-dvigunikta-bhushana-bharam | pranamata hrudi vinidhaya harim ruciram suktruto-daya-saram ||8|| The splendour of the multitude of Krishna’s ornaments has been doubled by the variety of ornamental expressions composed by SriJayadeva. O tasteful devotees! Krishna is the fruit of all your pious activities. Rädhä cast a charming sidelong glance at the face of her most beloved Krishna. From his exuberance in fighting with the elephant, it seems as if his arms are smeared with vermilion and decorated with mandära flowers by the goddess of victory. May those broad arms of Krishna, the conqueror of Mura, be ever-triumphant. Make the sound of your voice soothe my ears.” mamapi viphala-rusha vikali-krutam, avalokitum adhunedam | Milati lajjita vimanayanam tava, virama visruja rati-khedam Radhe Radhe ||7|| “Radhe, your eyes are ashamed to see me tortured by baseless anger. Glance at me and end the despair.” sri-jayadeva-bhanitam idam anupada, nigadita-madhu-ripu-modam | janayatu rasika-janeshu manorama, rati-rasa-bhava-vinodam Radhe Radhe ||8|| Sri Jayadeva describes the rapturous amusements of Madhuripu Sri Krishna in every word. May his song awaken the playful pastimes of the delightful amorous rasa in the hearts of the devotees who are expert in tasting pure transcendental mellows. ******** pratyüha-pulakän kurena, nibila-shleshe-nimeshena ca kridä-küta-vilokane, adhara-sudhä-päne?, kathä-narmabhi: | änandädhi-gamena-manmatha-kalä-yuddhe’pi, yasminn abhuth udbhüta sa tayor babhüva, suratä-rambha: priyam bhävuka: ||9|| Then they began the astonishing and supreme bliss, for which they had both been hankering for a long time. She pushed His hair back, to shower Him with the nectar of her lips. märänke rati-keli, sankula-ranä-rambhe, tayä sähasath- präyaàm, känta-jayäya kancid upari, prärambhi yat-sambhramät | nishpandhä jaghana-sthali, shithilitä, dor-vallir utkampitam vaksho militam akshi paurusha-rasa:, strinäm kuta: sidhyati ||11|| “Displaying her passion, in love play she launched a bold offensive above Him & triumphed over Purusha.” tasyä: pätala-päni jänki muro, nidrä-käshäye drishau nirdhauto adhara-shoni mä, vilulita-srasta-srajo mürdha-ja: | känci-däma dara-shlathäm cala-miti, prätar nikhätair drisho yebhi: käma sharai:, tad-adbhutam abhüt, tatyur mana: kilitham ||12|| Her eyes were red due to sleep deprivation. The red cosmetic on her lips had been wiped away by prolonged kissing. The garland of flowers that had been woven into her hair had withered. When the five arrows confronted Krishna’s eyes in the early morning, His mind was impaled by the five arrows of Kämadeva yet again. Her cheeks had become wet with perspiration and the brightness of her lips had faded. éshan-milita-dristi mugdha-hasitam, shét-kära-dhärä-vashäth avyaktä-kula-keli-käku-vikasad-dantämshu-dhautä-dharam | swasho-taptha-payodharoo pari, parish-vangii kuraìgi-drisho harshotkarsha, vimukta-nissaha-tanor dhanyo dhayat-yänanam ||14|| Rädhä began to speak courteously to Govinda, expressing her desire to be decorated by Him.
