Dearfriends, Todayin one of the responses, revered Mr Narayanaswamy quoted the above sayingcommonly used by Kerala iyers. The Malayalam translation was used by otherKeralites. The same saying may be used in other states also. The roughEnglish translation is “Because of her beauty, Seethai had all the problems; Because of the talkative nature Panchali hadall the problems in her life. I thoughtof expanding how the saying appeared. In factthe saying is sometimes used as two also. First part -Just like Seethai azhakalkettal and second part just like Panchali Vaayal kettal. In fact SeethaiVayal kettal, Panchali azhakal kettal isalso correct. Gopalakrishnan9-3-2024 1. Occasionfor the saying Seethai azakal kettal SreeRama left for forest life, for keeping up the boon given by King Dasaratha to Kaikeyi.Sree Rama had his abode near Panchavati. At that time Soorphanaka sister of Ravana came across their abode. She wasattracted to Sri Rama and requested him to marry her. Sree Rama told he ismarried, better go to Lakshmana, who is not married. Soorpanakha placed herrequest to marry her to Lakshmana. He too told he was married. She startedplacing her request again and again to both, she got ridiculed. She saw the beautiful Seetha inthe abode and started attacking her. In the on-going fight, her nose was cut by Lakshmana. “Rejected,Shurpanakha then approached his younger brother, Lakshmana, who said that he isonly second to Ram and therefore not worthy of her. Infuriated by theirdismissals, the humiliated and envious Shurpanakha returned to her demonic formand attacked Sita, but was thwarted by Lakshmana, who cut off her nose” Google search. She wentto Ravana, explained hermeeting Seetha, the beautiful woman, who is well suited to him than SreeRama and provoked him to get Seetha. SoRavana devised plan to kidnap Seetha, appearing in the form of a bhikshu. He compelled Maricha toassist him by threatening. Maricha took the form of a deer and appeared nearthe abode of Sree Rama. Seethawas attracted to the beauty of deer, desired Sree Rama to get it for her. SreeRama started to catch the deer, instructing Lakshmana to ensure, he is nearabode.. Minutes passed. Deer started jumping away fromSree Rama and suddenly called Lakshamana, come for help, in Sree Rama’svoice. Lakshmanaremained unchanged, but Seetha forced him to go to aid Sree Rama, her words were not pleasant, doubting immorality with Lakshmana. He drew a line beyond which sheshould not cross called- Lakshmana Rekha and started to help Sree Rama. Ravanaappeared as Bhikshu, without doubt Seetha brought alms, she remained well behind Lakshmana rekha, but Ravana could not go crossing Lakshmana rekha, he requested Sita to offeralms crossing the Rekha. She offered crossing Lakshmana Rekha due to some mesmerism.Bhikshu changed his form to Ravana and kidnappedSeetha and carried her in Pushpaka Viman to Lanka and kept her under women guardsin Ashokavanam. “OnceLakshmana leaves in search of Rama, the rakshasa king, Ravana, arrives on thesite in the form of a mendicant, and asks Sita for alms. Not suspecting theploy, she unsuspectingly crosses the Lakshmana Rekha to provide alms to him.Ravana promptly kidnaps her and flies her to Lanka upon his Pushpaka Vimana”Google search. Lakshmanawould not have left the abode unless Sita used immoral words at lakshmana.Ravana would not have kidnapped her unless she was very beautiful. HenceSita Azhakal kettal and vayal kettal, both are correct. Regarding Panchali Iwill post tomorrow. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Thatha_Patty" group.
