Q1      What are some of the greatest examples ofpresence of mind?

A1        YaminiManoharan, Studied at College of Engineering Guindy, Tamil
Nadu, India6y

I readthis joke in a weekly magazine.

AJunior Software Engineer, a Team Leader, and a Manager were in hell and
let'scall them JSE, TL, and M respectively.

In thehell as per their Karma accounts, each were to be flogged with a whip
100times.

Butthey were also granted 2 Wishes to decimate their punishment.

TL

Wish1: Reduce the blows to 50.

Wish2: Tie 2 beds of thickness 5 inches around me.

Yetthe beatings were so harsh that he is injured severely.

Manager

Wish 1: Reduce the blows to 25.

Wish 2: Tie 4 beds of thickness 5 inches around me.

Yetagain the blows were so harsh that he is also injured severely.

Here comes the JSE.

Wish 1: Increase the blows to 200.

( M and TL speak to themselves that JSE evenin hell proves his absurdity and
what a blunder they committed in hiring him).

Wish2 : Tie the manager to my front and the TL to my back !
JSE rocked !

Q2       What are some of the greatest examples ofpresence of mind?

A2      Rakshita Nagayach, I know something abouteverything9y

Thishappened to a friend of mine last summer. She was riding back from her
coachingto hostel at 8.30 pm in Bhopal on her scooty. Her hostel is in a hilly
areaoutside the city so there were no street lights on the road. On the way
shelost balance of her scooter when she ran it over a few stones. As she was
goingat about 40 kmph speed, she got thrown on the road due to the jerk. Face
first. Her jaw was hurt so bad it started bleeding immediately, and profusely.
Stillshe managed not to panic and took out her phone from her pocket and called
afriend of hers. But the hostel was a couple kilometers away so she knew
she'llhave to at least stay conscious. Moreover the road is not a very busy one
sovehicles run at pretty good speeds on it.

So sheturned the torch light of her phone and started waving it on so that no
speedyvehicle would run over her, and if lucky, stop and take her to the
hospital.

And that iswhat happened. A guy on a bike stopped the instant he saw her and
took her tothe hospital. She also saved herself from coming under 2 cars asshe
kept on waving her phone.

And withthis she was declared the smartest in the group!

leavinghim the only male bear in the world.

Mr. Rabbitrevs the engine of his motorcycle and says, "I wish that Mr. Bear
changed to female!" and ridesoff

Q4      What is the most ignorant thing someonehas said to you?

A4      It happened almost four years back.

I wentto my relative’s home, who was living near our home, then, to
distributeladoos, along with my mother after getting my class 10th results . I
had scored92% and we all were quite happy with it until we visited their house.

Likein almost every indian households, my relatives were more interested in
knowingmy marks than me. So,the lady living there, for the sake of
simplicity, let'scall her ‘O’ was following the live updates of the results
through various newschannels in her TV.

She came running to us, forgettingher knee pain, when she saw us . And the
following conversation took place

O -Bhame, how much did you score ? (Bhama is my pet name,by the way)

Me,quite humbly-92.2%

O-What? What? I didn't hear you properly. Did you get 99.9%?

Wewere baffled hearing that. I was confused whether she was pulling my leg

Me-Umm,no…

O- Howmuch did you get then?

Me-92.2%

O,withher face twisted with disgust- Ayye,is this the mark you got? Why did you
go tothe school then? Didn't you study anything?

Me-Umm,actually…

O-Such bad marks you got. Aren't you ashamed of yourself? You should score at
least99% out of 100. What the purpose of studying, otherwise?

Ifound her words , especially her facial expressions, quite demotivating at that
time. My mother tried to make herunderstand that nobody scores 99.9% and all.
But she was adamant and didn'tbudge from her opinion.

Two yearslater, I went to the same person’s home to give laddus after knowing
my 12thresults, this time, with my brother. Only her husband was at home in that
time

Let'scall him K

K-Aah, how much did you get ?

Me-90%

K-What? 90%? Bad. Very bad

Mybrother- It's 90. Not 19

K-Yes. I heard it right. So, you didn't study properly and went to write
theexam, right? Where will you get admission with this marks?

Me-Ummm…

K-What are you going to do after this? Are you writing those entrance exams?

I waspreparing for entrance exams at that time, but was keeping it a secret, on
mymother's insistence in order to keep prying eyes away

Me-I'm looking into it

K-Merely Looking is not enough. You should work hard like my son ( His son is
adentist. A Quite humble and pleasant person, to be honest). Aah,
anyway, youwon't be able to crack them too with this marks

Mybrother ,in an innocent tone- How much should we get then?

K-Definitely not 90. Children near our place got 95,97and 90 percentages and
gave us ladoos yesterday

Me- But wasn't the result announcedtoday morning?

K,stammering- Aah it was 10th results. State board ahhm..

Anyway,I don't think you will get admission anywhere with this marks. Can sit
quietlyin the house .

He tookthe entire box of ladoos in his hands and was about to wave us goodbye
when mybrother spoke up

‘ Please take one laddoo for yourself. We have to give toother people too.’

Quiteembarassed , he took one ladoo and returned the box.

Both Kand O continued to taunt us whenever they saw asking whether I hadn't
gotadmission anywhere ,during the time I was waiting for the entrance
examsresults and college allotment.

Needlessto say, theynever spoke to us after they heard that I got admission in
a government aidedcollege for engineering

Q5      What was the greediest thing you’ve seenyour in-laws do?

A5      Tumtumtree,13h

My father in law cashed in my husband's life insurance, took all themoney in
his trust, tried to take our house, and as the executor of the estatehe charged
me for the funeral where his friend screamed obscenities atme through my entire
speech and they gave my husband military honors but gavethe flag to his father.

He charged me for all the food and drink at the after party where I left
immediately after entering because that samefriend threatened to shoot me. Oh
and he charged me for all his time. Includingthe time spent attending his sons
funeral. Before you say “how” , he took itout of the proceeds from the sale of
the house. Which he is allowed to do as executor.

Our son was 3 months old when myhusband died, and Ithought my father in law and
I had a good relationship. Imade him lunch every day (my husband worked for
him), cooked all the holidaymeals, filled his fridge with healthy food after
surgeries… I was a gooddaughter in law. I'll never understand it. My son and I
now live with my parents, since I can'tafford to support him and pay rent/a
mortgage on my own.

It'sdisgusting greed. Oh, and my father in law is also incredibly wealthy and
inpoor health and probably won't live the next 5 years.
