CULTURAL QA 04202426

Q1             Whatare some useful basic math tricks that most people don't
know about?

KR          As usualsomeone west does something; and another stupis says “yes
sir 3 bags full andalso says I did it and he is correct; Maths tricks so many
here includingmyself had written here; at that time the stupid did not read;
but when somewest says something, his ears pricks?  Am I correct about you sir
your character which I always described andstill you hold high tongue? INDIA
HAS ONE BY NAME SHULPA SUTRA VEDIC MATHSWHICH YOU HAVE NOT LEARNT SO YOU THINK
QUORA IS LEARNED RIGHT?

Q2             Whatare some mind-blowing facts that sound unreal but are
actually true?

KR        Truth willnever sound unreal that is a fallacy. Againwest glory.

1. “Albert Einstein” is ananagram for “ten elite brains.”

KR         What kindof anagram one has to steal from west? Is it that name?
Don’t we have vikatakavi, Sivaji vayile jilepi intamil?   Samskritham is
KASHMIRS MAT ;KALIDASAN=SALADAKIN; INDRA IS NADIR THE PEAK;SO ON SO FORTH.

2. You don’t poop or pee burnt fat, you exhale it. So yes,you lose weight by
breathing.

KR     True   and many doctors might have told us

3. We went to the moon before we put wheels on suitcases.

KR   true patentedonly 1970

4. Millions of people wake up at the exact same second fromusing their cell
phone as an alarm clock.

KR      This is unverifiableas may or may not since words used millions in
billion  is tricky

5. In any given year, the dates 4/4, 6/6, 8/8, 10/10,12/12, and the last day of
February will all occur on the same day of the week.

KR              True  But had you played thereason that would have shown you
applied your mind which I am asking you to do;the reason is so simple as in
Maths number 9; Indeed, those dates all fall onThursdays because they are
exactly 63 days apart from each other. In a non-leap year, like 2019,each day
of the week advances by one day from one date to the next date that is63 days
later. This is because there are 7 days in a week, and 63 is a multiple of 7.

6. One of the ingredients necessary to make dynamite ispeanuts.

KR        Again youfailed to say the correct one and the reason; it is not
peanut but its oil as achemical compound; the mention of "peanut in dynamite"
likely refersto a historical fact rather than a direct combination of the two
items. AlfredNobel, the inventor of dynamite, discovered that when he mixed
nitro-glycerinewith an absorbent substance like diatomaceous earth or clay, it
became muchsafer to handle and transport. One of the absorbents he used was
peanut oil. Nobelfound that mixing nitro-glycerine with an absorbent material
made it less proneto accidental detonation, effectively creating a stable
explosive that could besafely handled. While peanut oil was one of the
absorbents used in earlydynamite formulations, it's not directly related to
modern peanut nuts. It's aninteresting historical titbit about the development
of dynamite and Nobel'scontributions to explosives technology.

7. Umbrellas were once only used by women.

KR       Cannot sayexactly A hunch on fashion day practice; but umbrella was
much used only by menin England; as the habit of grace to women.

8. When your cheeks blush, your stomach does the same.

KR       Believed tobe so; not all times; but without any reason outside
stomach will readjust whenyou will feel stomach muscle impact.

9. The cigarette lighter was invented before the match.

KR again repeated

Q4             Whatare the most ironic facts you know?

1. The first man to survive going over Niagara Falls in abarrel died after
slipping on an orange peel.

KR    The storyyou're referring to is about Annie Edson Taylor, who was indeed
the firstperson to successfully go over Niagara Falls in a barrel and survive.
Sheaccomplished this feat on October 24, 1901. However, she did not die by
slipping on an orange peel.Annie Edson Taylor didface financial difficulties
later in life and was often in poor health, but shepassed away on April 29,
1921, due to natural causes.

2. The building holding the patent to the fire hydrantburned down in 1836.

KR       Patentrelated to fire hydrants, there have been numerous patents
related to firehydrant designs and improvements over the years. There is no
specificinformation indicating that the patent for John J. Smith's early fire
hydrantdesign "burned."

3. Charles Darwin, infamous for his theory of evolution andsurvival of the
fittest, married his cousin.

KR        Yes:  Charles Darwin married his first cousin, EmmaWedgwood. They
were married on January 29, 1839. Emma was the daughter ofJosiah Wedgwood II, a
pottery industrialist and the nephew of Charles Darwin'smaternal grandfather,
Josiah Wedgwood. Marrying cousins was not uncommon duringthe Victorian era,
especially among families of wealth and social standing.Despite their close
relation, Charles and Emma had a loving and supportivemarriage, and they had
ten children together.

Q1             What are some useful basic mathtricks that most people don't
know about?

A1           Alex Mazanek   , Studied at Pima Community College Updated 8y

Very simple one I learned in 5th grade that I stilluse to this day that most
people don't know: what's 4x18? This isn't the mostcomplex problem but it would
take people at least a couple seconds to solve andsome may have to write it
down. Instead what is 8x9? Just double the firstnumber and halve the second,
will give you the same answer in half the time.

My note- I havetried 4 cases and found correct.

1)   5x16. Doubling firstdigit 10. Half of second digit 8

(10x 8=80)

2)  3x 18 Doubling first digit 6, half of second digit 9

( 6x9= 54).

3)Seconddigit I have changed so that half of it is with decimal digits
4x17 Doubling first digit 8 half of second digit 8.5. (8x8.5=68)

  4) First digitI have changed to have decimal  3x24  Doubling first digit 6
Half of second digit12  (6x12=72)

Q3             Are there any bone disorders thatresult in the growth of extra
bones instead of the loss of existing ones? Howprevalent are these disorders?

A3             KenSaladin, Author, Anatomy & Physiology—The Unity of Form and
Function8h

There are two processes in which people growadditional bones, only one of them
pathological.

Throughout life, people normally develop extra bones, usually embedded in
tendons near the joints. They’re commonly rounded,pea-sized bones called
sesamoid bones, but the largest of these, the kneecaps, are present in nearly
everyone.

The pathological growth of bone tissue in abnormalplaces is called ectopic or
heterotopic ossification depending on where thebone is forming. In these cases,
the new bone tissue is often very irregular inshape and may be very painful or
even disabling.
