Living with nature in modern times can be both challenging and rewarding. On one hand, modern conveniences and technology have made life more comfortable and convenient, but they can also create a barrier between humans and the natural world. Many people today live in urban or suburban environments, where they may have limited access to green spaces and natural habitats.
However, there is a growing movement towards reconnecting with nature and living more sustainably. People are increasingly recognizing the importance of preserving the environment and protecting biodiversity. This has led to initiatives such as sustainable farming practices, conservation efforts, and the promotion of eco-friendly lifestyles. Living with nature in modern times requires a conscious effort to minimize our impact on the environment and to appreciate the beauty and value of the natural world. It may involve making choices such as reducing energy consumption, supporting local and organic agriculture, and spending time outdoors to reconnect with nature. While it can be challenging to break away from the conveniences of modern life, many people find that living closer to nature brings a sense of fulfilment, peace, and harmony with the world around them. Adapting to a life more closely intertwined with nature in the modern era involves several considerations and conditions: 1. *Sustainable Practices*: Embracing sustainable practices is essential. This includes reducing waste, conserving resources such as water and energy, and minimizing one's carbon footprint. KR: Can we drink water as received in the tap so that water cans and bottles plastic waste are saved? Can we cook ourselves 6 times a day to feed home lovers, so that the waste of food purchased through Zomato can be avoided? Then woman or man must be at home only to take care and will anyone agree? Keep asking similar questions to live with the nature and the problem will be bizarre. 2. *Self-Sufficiency*: Striving for self-sufficiency by growing food, generating renewable energy, and minimizing reliance on external resources can help individuals live more harmoniously with nature. KR Can we live on sunlight energy only? Can we avoid Television and all electric gadget including Laptop and cell phones, to cherish nature? 3. *Minimalism*: Adopting a minimalist lifestyle reduces consumption and waste, which aligns with the principles of living in harmony with nature. KR Minimalist life style is living as in Vedic periods; can we adopt? There was a famous architect at Trivandrum who sad in 1980s, that homes shall be designed and built according to the geographical locations and only with the materials found around the homes. But I find in Kerala, transformation from tiles to Chennai types modern bungalows, people say, Dubai funds. Can we build only same pattern homes, with the minimum needs? and have articles of only needs controlling the buying spree? 4. *Proximity to Nature*: Choosing to live in environments closer to nature, such as rural areas, forests, or coastal regions, allows for a more direct connection with the natural world. KR No one has homes in the forest; in that respect USA homes are built in the same pattern, not leaving out their products and culture, including even a single home, in the midst of a dense forest, facing everyday Jungle problem. We are not ready to do it. 5. *Respect for Biodiversity*: Respecting and preserving biodiversity is crucial. This involves protecting natural habitats, supporting conservation efforts, and promoting sustainable land use practices. KR Bio diversity is not living only in a particular place for easy access, but live in the spread areas of the earth so that cluster do not harm the living area. 6. *Cultural Integration*: Integrating indigenous knowledge and practices into modern lifestyles can help foster a deeper connection with nature and promote sustainable living. KR Where we are telling I don’t know the language and practices of my ancestor, shall not think about living with the nature. 7. *Education and Awareness*: Educating oneself and others about environmental issues and the importance of living sustainably is essential for fostering a culture of environmental stewardship. 8. *Community Engagement*: Engaging with local communities and participating in collective efforts for environmental conservation and sustainable development can amplify the impact of individual actions. 9. *Adaptability*: Being adaptable to changing environmental conditions and embracing innovation and technology that support sustainable living is vital in today's rapidly changing world. KR Are we not adopting to building homes in the lake areas? And are we not adopting? 10. *Mindfulness and Connection*: Cultivating mindfulness and fostering a sense of connection with the natural world can enhance one's appreciation for nature and promote a more sustainable way of life. KR Are we a responsible citizen? A whistle blower? Or we talk tall and act differently? Are we courageous enough to oppose and support those who oppse the villainy of the society, for example- an auto having a write up of anti-Hindu slogans? Living in harmony with nature in the modern era requires a holistic approach that encompasses environmental, social, and cultural dimensions. By embracing sustainable practices, respecting biodiversity, and fostering a deeper connection with the natural world, individuals can lead fulfilling lives while minimizing their impact on the planet.
