RespectedSir/s,

SUBJECT:CROW …IDENTIFICATION

Ascrows are very social creatures, large groups will roost together
during wintermonths. Though the birds like to perch on tall trees in wooded
areas, it isextremely common for them to nest on rooftops in cities and
suburbs, as homesprovide ample food, water, and shelter.

CROWS are large birds that haveshiny black feathers. Crows flock
together in large families. These birds arerecognized by their loud voices and
also, they are marked by theirintelligence. Crows are very clever and curious
birds who have a reputation asthieves and even pranksters (a mischievous or
malicious..  plays trick at the expense of another).

It is usually seen singly, in pairs orsmall groups. It is an
opportunist and generalist omnivore. It may soften itsfood by dropping it in
water, and have also been observed to eat sand afterfeeding on meat from a
carcass. They have a range of cawing vocalizations.

 ·       Two caws = “Where are you?” (I will often hear a distantreply of two
caws, as in, “I'm over here.”)

·       Three caws = “Danger!”(They’ll do it whenever they see a dog or a
person they don't know.)

·        Four or more caws = Territorial

CROWS are one of the most underrated birds.

1.  Crows are supersmart. ...

2.   Crows mate for life. ...

3.  Crows can rememberfaces (aka hold a grudge). ...

4.  Crowshave regional dialects. ...

5.  Crowshold funerals for the deceased. ...

6.   Crows have huge brains! ...

7.  Crowscan make tools. They'll take a stick, strip all the leaves off, and
turn it into a hook by bending the tip...

8.   Crows hide their food.

Crows live half of the life span of humans. The life spanof crows in the wild
is upto 15-20years. Crows under very special care areknown to live up to 30
years. Under the records, the longest known lifespan is40 years.

They have the largest brain to bodyratio of any bird. Humans have around a 1:40
ratio, equal to about 2.5%. Thesebirds have a 1:80 ratio, equal to about 1.3%.

A crow familycan eat 40,000 grubs, caterpillars, armyworms and other insects in
one nestingseason. That's a lot of insects many gardeners and farmers consider
pests. These good environmentalcitizens also transport and store seeds, thus
contributing to forest renewal.

Inquisitive and sometimesmischievous, crows are good learners and
problem-solvers, often raiding garbagecans and picking over discarded food
containers. They're also aggressive andoften chase away larger birds including
hawks, owls and herons.

Crowsare extremely intelligent birds. They are known for their
problem-solvingskills and amazing communication skills. Forexample, when a crow
encounters a mean human, itwill teach other crows how to identify the human. In
fact, research shows thatcrows don't forget a face.

Hindus believe that crows are the link between theworlds of the living and the
dead; ancestors (it is said) visit the living inthe form of a CROW. Every year
following a loved one's death, the familycooks a feast filled with all of their
relative's favourite foods. Crows are also associated with theancestors and
rice-balls are offered to them during memorial ceremonies(Sraddhas).

Lord Shani is considered to be thegod of justice and a crow as his vahana has
many different meanings. Significant planetary deity in Hindu astrology, is
accompanied by a crow ashis vahana

In Native American culture andmythology, crows were usually seen as symbols of
the highest forms ofwisdom. Several tribes believed that crows had the
abilityto communicate with human beings. They are signs ofknowledge and law.
Seeing one of these black creatures isoften a mark of good luck, justice, or
wisdom.

Some people eat other birds but no one eatsthe crow; hencetheir proliferation
and domination in India -

SUPERSTITIONS ABOUT CROWS:

Crows are universally recognized as power animalsthat bring messages from the
spiritual world. They symbolize various things, from newbeginnings, joy,
harmony to bad luck, or even death. Black crows are seen assymbols of prophecy,
transformation, change, and freedom.

·        If a crow sits on balcony and makes heavy sounds, it indicates that
guests are expected to arrive at your place. According to Rishis, such
behaviour of crows signifiesthat family members or friends who are living in a
foreign land will visit yourhouse soon

·      According to shakun shastra,(சகுன சாஸ்திரம்) :  it is considered good if
a crow makes a noisein the north direction at noon.

·      Similarly, if the crow makes noise in the east direction, it is
alsoconsidered auspicious.

·        According to Shakun Shastra, if one sees a crow drinking water from
avessel, then it is considered very auspicious. It meansthat one is going to
get financial gain in the near future or you are going toget great success in
some work.

·        Seeing a single crow is often thought to be a bad omen, but seeing two
couldindicate good luck is coming.

·        Seeing three suggests impending change.

·          Seeing a crow in a dream is never a good sign.It means that one
will hear bad newssoon.

However, these interpretations are not universal, and different cultures have
their own unique perspectives on crows.

Why do people like crows?

Some are fond of them, perhapsbecause the crow's apparent intelligencemakes it
more humanlike than most otherbirds. Or perhaps it is because of the
person'sfamiliarity with a pet crow at some time in their life.

IDENTIFICATION BY CROWS.

Dear friends,

In Chennai by5.30 AM it is dawn nowadays. I woke up by 5 AM and after
responding some mails,I just opened the portico door and went to open the front
gate. One crow was walkingin the bituminized road in front of the gate. On
seeing me it started cawing.

After openingthe gate immediately I came out with biscuit tin. I took 4
biscuits and by thetime I put the first biscuit as bits on compound wall it
came to wall andstarted eating.

By the timeanother 4 more crows appeared. They sat on the parapet wall. One by
onethey too ate the biscuit bits leaving nothing. No crowding.

I felt somemore crows or sparrows may come or the bits will be eaten by ants,
and put twomore biscuits as bits.

After twominutes, one or two bits remained, eating by ants. Once ants touch,
crows willnot touch the biscuit bits.

I wasastonished at the identificationand confidence by the crow walked in the
road. It was so confident;I will provide biscuit bits, sometimes from
experience.

I believe thecrows are my deceased four brothers and two sister in laws for
whom Gaya srardhais still not performed.  I insist myelder brother’s sons to
perform Gaya srardha, for some reason or other it isprolonging.

I hopesimilar experience may be occurring to many of you.

Crows are notmuch interested in cooked rice or any other items.
