*Mar*The Test of Democracy

Democracy means, the real freedom that enables the symbiotic self
actualization. It must mean the symbiosis of all organisms of the
Biosphere, and must get over the anthropocentricism.

As it is, in our country there is simply no Democracy. One has to visit our
Jails and see the people jailed there, most of them undertrials, jailed for
fake or very trivial offences, but detained for years and years, as the
Judiciary is busy with persons like Salman Khans, Avinash or Sasikala and
other VVVVIPS, employing five star lawyers. It is alleged that the
undertrials are deliberately put under detention to work as the servants of
the VVVIP prisoners. The small police constable has the power of life or
death over the slum dwellers, living by the side of a sewerage stream. The
stream contains terrible toxic chemicals, not simply the drainage from
homes.

The VVVIPs start industries and huge business empires, all of which are
based on poisoning the land, water and air, the cost of the pollution being
borne mainly by the poor people and also by the biosphere. The VVVIPS have
captive TV channels; besides the so called law enforcement departments.
Democracy has become the great gigantic hypocrisy.

The toxic water of the sewerage streams mixes very often with the drinking
water supply. The water is used to grow vegetables, leafy vegetables,
fruits etc by the poor people on lands which they do not own. They sell the
poisoned crops on the streets.

Breathing leads to emotions. The toxic smells demoralize continuously and
they create fear in the air. The VVVIPS need that general fear in the
population, so that the people just cannot question and rebel and be made
to feel very lowly. The meaningless technical jargon used in economics
which bludgeons the acceptance of the drivel by the oppressed people as
great high brow expertise, has made the simple environmentally
complementing symbiotic livelihood, based on automatic commonsense look
foolish. The economic man has killed the normal human who is a being of
ecology. The ultimate stupidity, where economics is not based on ecology
but on mechanics based on Newtonian Physics, is being bludgeoned
continuously. We are now a generation of big fools that we are not normal
and ecological beings but are only the machines, the economic men. This big
flock of economic men is led and consumed by the VVVIPs.

Today, we are finding a caution, not to be drenched by rain water as the
rainfall is not water falling as rain but acids, sulphuric acid and nitric
acid falling as rain.

The only happiness we can get is the fact that thieves also along with us
are falling into the abyss.

The essay titled "The Test of Democracy" offers a scathing critique of the
current state of democracy in the author's country, highlighting severe
social, environmental, and judicial issues. The author argues that true
democracy, which should ensure freedom and symbiotic self-actualization for
all organisms within the biosphere, is fundamentally absent. The critique
is multifaceted, targeting the judiciary, the influence of VVVIPs (Very
Very Very Important Persons), environmental degradation, and the
dehumanizing nature of modern economics.

### Key Points of the Essay:

1. **Judicial Inequity:**

   - The author asserts that the judicial system is heavily skewed in favor
of the wealthy and powerful. High-profile individuals receive
disproportionate attention and resources, while undertrials languish in
jail for minor or fabricated charges.

   - Allegations of undertrials being exploited as servants by VVVIP
prisoners are made, illustrating a gross abuse of power within the prison
system.

2. **Environmental and Public Health Crisis:**

   - The essay underscores severe environmental pollution caused by
industrial activities of the VVVIPs. These industries release toxic
chemicals into the environment, disproportionately affecting poor
communities.

   - The contamination of water sources and subsequent use of this polluted
water for agriculture poses a direct threat to public health.

3. **Social Hierarchy and Fear:**

   - There is a stark power imbalance between law enforcement and
marginalized communities. The poor live in constant fear of arbitrary
violence and exploitation by the police.

   - The pervasive environmental pollution not only harms physical health
but also demoralizes and instills fear among the populace, maintaining
social control.

4. **Economic Critique:**

   - The author criticizes the modern economic system for being detached
from ecological realities. Economics, driven by mechanical and Newtonian
principles, ignores the fundamental interdependence between humans and the
environment.

   - This system, promoted by the VVVIPs, reduces humans to mere economic
units, stripping away their ecological and symbiotic nature.

5. **General Hypocrisy and Systemic Failure:**

   - Democracy, in its current form, is described as a "gigantic hypocrisy"
that benefits a select few while oppressing the majority.

   - The author laments the collective ignorance and foolishness of society
for accepting an economic model that is fundamentally flawed and
ecologically destructive.

### Broader Implications and Reflections:

- The essay calls for a re-evaluation of what true democracy should entail,
emphasizing the need for a system that respects all life forms and ensures
ecological balance.

- It suggests a paradigm shift from anthropocentric to eco-centric
thinking, where human activities harmonize with natural ecosystems rather
than exploiting them.

- The piece is a powerful indictment of systemic corruption, environmental
neglect, and the dehumanization inherent in current socio-economic
structures.

### Conclusion:

"The Test of Democracy" is a passionate and thought-provoking essay that
challenges readers to reconsider the meaning and practice of democracy. It
calls for a holistic and inclusive approach that values ecological
integrity and genuine social justice over economic exploitation and
superficial political freedom.
