Interesting question. I don't know the legal position but would assume that
the mother will be entitled (if she so desires) to have custody of the
child till a particular age, when the child which is now grown up, can
decide.

I would also suppose that the biological father must ensure proper alimony
is paid unless of course the mother gets married to someone else.

Recently I saw a Tamizh film "Bachelor" where the boy and the girl choose
to have a "live in" relationship (concepts unknown to us Sr citizens) and
the girl becomes pregnant and the scan shows it to be twins.

While the girl gets attached to the babies she is carrying, the boy compels
her to have her pregnancy aborted. She refuses and they part ways. The
girl's side sues the boy and even as we expect a court decision in her
favour (girl's side uses some forged evidence to show they were married),
in the climax the girl tells the court she withdraws her plea and just
walks away - leaving the boy feeling guilty. There ends the story with the
girl showing some gestures with her hand which I could not understand.

Perils of live in relationships which our girls particularly, should be
aware of.

But then, this is now a permissive society and each is on his own -
traditions are being given a go by and you are labelled a conservative /
not modern etc. if you care to advise. Women's lib.

Our girls should realize the well meaning Tamizh words
"whether the saree falls on the fence or the fence falls on the saree, it
is the saree that will get torn".

Kali Kalam, people commit harakiri, who are we stop? If we try, we will be
asked to mind our own business and stop being a nuisance.
