Reviving faith in nature
Chapter 13: TEXT 21 B G
karya-karana-kartrtve***
hetuh prakrtir ucyate
purusah sukha-duhkhanam
bhoktrtve hetur ucyate
karya—effect; karana—cause; kartrtve—in the matter of creation;
hetuh—instrument; *prakrtih—material nature*; ucyate—is said to be; purusah—the
living entities; sukha—happiness; duhkhanam—of distresses; bhoktrtve—in
enjoyment; hetuh—instrument; ucyate—is said to be.
Nature is said to be the cause of all material activities and effects, whereas
the living entity is the cause of the various sufferings and enjoyments in
this world.
The different manifestations of body and senses among the living entities
are due to material nature. There are 8,400,000 different species of life,
and these varieties are the creation of material nature. They arise from
the different sensual pleasures of the living entity, who thus desires to
live in this body or that. When he is put into different bodies, he enjoys
different kinds of happiness and distress. His material happiness and
distress are due to his body, and not to himself as he is.
$$$ In his original state there is no doubt of enjoyment; therefore, that
is his real state. Because of the desire to load, it over material nature,
he is in the material world. In the spiritual world there is no such thing.
The spiritual world is pure, but in the material world everyone is
struggling hard to acquire victims who present different pleasures to the
body. {Material world is thinking only in terms of the comfort zone and ,
crossing over the comfort zone} It might be more clear to state that this
body is the effect of the senses. The senses are instruments for gratifying
desire. Now, the sum total-body and instrument senses-are offered by
material nature, and, as will be clear in the next verse, the living entity
is blessed or damned with circumstances according to his past desire and
activity. According to one's desires and activities, material nature places
one in various residential quarters.
The being himself is the cause of his attaining such residential
quarters and his attendant enjoyment or suffering. Once placed in some
$$$ *particular
kind of body, he comes under the control of nature because the body, being
matter, acts according to the laws of nature*. At that time, the living
entity has no power to change that law. Suppose an entity is put into the
body of a dog. As soon as he is put into the body of a dog, he must act
like a dog. He cannot act otherwise. And if the living entity is put into
the body of a hog, then he is forced to eat stool and act like a hog.
Similarly, if the living entity is put into the body of a demigod, he must
act according to his body. This is the law of nature. But in all
circumstances, the Super soul is with the individual soul. ($$$) That is
explained in the Vedas as follows: *dva suparna sayuja sakhaya.* The
Supreme Lord is so kind upon the living entity that He always accompanies
the individual soul and in all circumstances is present as the Super soul
or Paramatma.
Chapter 13: TEXT 22
purusah prakrti-stho hi
bhunkte prakrti-jan gunan
karanam guna-sango 'sya
sad-asad-yoni-janmasu
purusah—the living entity; prakrti-sthah—being situated in the material
energy; hi—certainly; bhunkte—enjoys; prakrti-jan—produced by the material
nature; gunan—modes of nature; karanam—cause; guna-sangah—association with
the modes of nature; asya—of the living entity; sat-asat—good and bad;
yoni—species
of life; janmasu—birth.
The living entity in material nature thus follows the ways of life,
enjoying the three modes of nature. This is due to his association with
that material nature. Thus, he meets with good and evil amongst various
species.
This verse is very important for an understanding of how the living
entities transmigrate from one body to another. It is explained in the
Second Chapter that the living entity is transmigrating from one body to
another just as one changes dress. This change of dress is due to his
attachment to material existence. As long as he is captivated by this false
manifestation, he has to continue transmigrating from one body to another. Due
to his desire to load it over material nature, he is put into such
undesirable circumstances. Under the influence of material desire, the
entity is born sometimes as a demigod, sometimes as a man, sometimes as a
beast, as a bird, as a worm, as an aquatic, as a saintly man, as a bug.
This is going on. And in all cases the living entity thinks himself to be
the master of his circumstances, yet he is under the influence of material
nature.
*** Yesterday we saw Krst, kama, krt, a beautiful usage of the root
word kri, while using crisply, giving more meaningful actions of a person;
action in inaction and inaction in action. Today, KARANA, KARYA, KETRTVA
root word kri is used for the CAUSE AND EFFECT AS THE CAUSE OF NATURE
DRIVING ONE TO REACT WHICH ALONE COULD BE THE EFFECT, WHICH AGAIN RAISE A
CAUSE TOWARDS AN EFFECT-AND THUS GOES ON AS A CHAIN REACTION. The science
of nature spoken by THE BRAHMAM. Newton spoke long long after; but Indians
in Majority do remember Newton only even if uneducated.
$$$ Next science taught by B G is Darwin theory. How species evolve;
the guna determines every species; and that is impossible to change. BASIC
CONCEPT SPOKEN HERE IN BG IS NATURAL SELECTION AND ADAPTATION TO THE
ENVIRONMENT. Where Darwin theory is turned controversy is to explain the
theory as evolution from one species to another which he mistook as natural
selection; hence his next theory of adoption failed miserably. But 3100 BCE
revealed that, GUNA KARMA VIBADA is because of natural selection by senses
and adoption to that environment, created the karma. That one made the soul
reborn as a species; and if that is the cause; then bow-wow is the effect
of that Janma.
The Botany and the Biology is so easily dealt in B G. Even if the
entire population as an act of respect, grew along with the nature only,
there will be rocks slides, TOBA volcano, Ganges and Brahma Putra flowing
across, Saraswati River drying and all that the nature had to do as a
PRAKRITI. If you do not cut the trees or use the timber, the entire earth
will be filled with only shredded leaves and branches; dried by the SUN;
heated by the agni; spreading the co2; and again, out of rain refurbishing
a greenery. WHY? Because KARMA- LESS IS ONLY THAT Brahmam. Good and bad is
nature, which provokes cause and effect. K Rajaram IRS 30724 31724
