Satya is the Sanskrit <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanskrit> word for
truth <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truth>. The highest truth can mean God
Himself, or it can mean an ethical virtue, being true and consistent with
reality in one’s thought, speech and action. vedanta society Southern

Satyam (Truth)

By
Sri Swami Sivananda <https://www.dlshq.org/saints/siva.htm>

Truth is the seat of God. Truth is God. Truth alone triumphs.

Truth is the basic law of life. Truth is the means and the goal ultimate.

Truth is the law of freedom, falsehood the law of slavery and death.

Truth is justice, fair play, adherence to the fundamental laws of ethics.
Purity and truth are the twin factors that unfold and awaken the divinity
that lies dormant within you and lead you to perfection.

Truthfulness is the first pillar in the Temple of God-realization. Truth is
the gateway to the Kingdom of God.

Truth is like a ladder. It leads you to the Kingdom of Immortal Bliss.

THE ALL-INCLUSIVE VIRTUE

Speaking truth is the most important qualification of a Yogin. Truth is the
queen of virtues. Truth is the supreme virtue.

Truth constitutes the essence of the Vedas. Control over passions
constitutes the essence of truth. Self-denial or refraining from worldly
enjoyments forms the essence of self-control. These attributes are always
present in a virtuous man.

Truth is righteousness. Righteousness is light, and light is bliss. Ahimsa
<https://www.dlshq.org/teachings/ahimsa.htm>, Brahmacharya
<https://www.dlshq.org/teachings/brahmacharya.htm>, purity, justice,
harmony, forgiveness, peace <https://www.dlshq.org/messages/peace.htm> are
forms of truth.

Impartiality, self-control, modesty, endurance, goodness, renunciation,
meditation, dignity, fortitude, compassion, and abstention from injury are
the various forms of truth.

All the above virtues, though seemingly different, have but one and the
same form, namely, truth. All these hold up truth and strengthen it.

When the path of truth is trodden, everything else also is done. When the
root is watered, all the branches are automatically watered.

*Satya* is widely discussed in various Upanishads, including the Brihadaranyaka
Upanishad <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brihadaranyaka_Upanishad> where
*satya* is called the means to Brahman
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brahman>, as well as Brahman (Being, true
self) In hymn 1.4.14 of Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, *Satya* (truth) is
equated to Dharma <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dharma> (morality, ethics,
law of righteousness) as

Nothing is higher than the Law of Righteousness (*Dharma*). The weak
overcomes the stronger by the Law of Righteousness. Truly that Law is the
Truth (*Satya*); Therefore, when a man speaks the Truth, they say, "He
speaks Righteousness"; and if he speaks Righteousness, they say, "He speaks
the Truth!" For both are one.
— Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, I.4.xiv

Taittiriya Upanishad <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taittiriya_Upanishad>'s
hymn 11.11 states, "Speak the *Satya* (truth), conduct yourself according
to the *Dharma* (morality, ethics, law)".

Truth is sought, praised in the hymns of Upanishads, held as one that
ultimately, always prevails. The Mundaka Upanishad
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mundaka_Upanishad>, for example, states in
Book 3, Chapter 1

*सत्य*मेव जयते नानृतं[20] <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satya#cite_note-20>
Translation 1: *Truth* alone triumphs, not falsehood.
Translation 2: *Truth* ultimately triumphs, not falsehood
Translation 3: The *true* prevails, not the untrue
— Mundaka Upanishad, 3.1.6

Sandilya Upanishad of Atharvanaveda, in Chapter 1, includes ten
forbearances as virtues, in its exposition of Yoga. It defines *satya* as
""the speaking of the truth that leads to the well being of creatures,
through the actions of one's mind, speech, or body.

TRUTH IS ALWAYS ONE ONLY AND THERE ARE MANY TRUTH WRT MAN SITUATIONS
DIFFERENT BUT IN EACH SITUATION TRUTH IS one only. Facts are too many.
Deduction of truth is tough. Truth hence satyam the brahman. KR IRS 8 11 24
